As a half swede, half brit the O hull sound (hello etc) reminds me alot of the swedish "ö" sound

Hull is a port town that had a lot of Northen European and German immigrants passing through in the 19th century. Theres still a Danish Seamans Church in the city centre to this day.

Accents are fascinating, I went to University in Hull, I am originally from the Midlands about 80 miles away, for my first 2 weeks there I struggled to understand some of the accent and dialect. I've been here 30 + years now. My son has a broad Hull accent.( I met a Hull lad😊) I reckon maybe there is a Scandinavian contribution to the accent possibly because of the viking influence ( lots of Viking names to our streets) and obviously a century or so ago it was a thriving port City with people from all over the world passing through. I love Hull 😊 it's a really interesting city in regard to history.

That's where it is actually from or so I read. A lot of Hull people have Swedish heritage because of the fishing industry. Myself and my husband both from Hull spanning many generations have some Swedish ancestry according to them DNA tests, and 1 of our daughters is a classic Swedish looking person. She's tall, blue eyes blonde hair

For non-residents of the UK, when this guy says "British" he means "English". A Northern British accent would be somewhere in Scotland, Hull is a Northern English accent. No-one in the UK would ever say Hull is in the North of Britain or people in Hull have a Northern British accent ... because it isn't and they don't.

Mr Aly teach us English with expressions, not imitating speaker. English learning is not about accent or non rhetoric. I will say American accent and in British I love Graham Norton accent and Welsh accent. Not cockney they made mouth like a roll 😊 so I prefer a simple English accent with a good expression. Because you can teach us English with expressions, learning language without expressions and motions won't go well for learners. In English i love prince Charles accent, Lee mack, David Mitchell and other comedians like Angus Deayton, Michael Caine.

@@SlametWahidin-ke6xf OK, so RP is not southern. It's not regional at all. It's a social accent that the middle and upper classes use to define themselves. I live in the northern part of England where there are several regional variations of English AND there are RP speakers, too. For those learning English, RP is the accent to aim for, but I love that there are variations of regional accents that have developed through immigration. If you can find an example of the Yorkshire accent as spoken by Pakistani migrants and their families, it is an absolute delight.
