Lucy Chen Accidentally Auditions for 'American Idol' - The Rookie 

For those who don't know. the actress Melissa O'Neil, who plays Lucy Chen; won Canadian Idol.

She won Canadian Idol in 2005 at 17. She is the youngest winner and first female to win the show. Loved her in Dark Matter. Her and Nathan Fillion were both born in Alberta Canada. Nathan in Edmonton and Lucy in Calgary.

She can act, dance, sing, handle action, dramatic scenes, and can be funny... she's a six-sided threat. Go Melissa O'Neil!

She is adorable lol. And so talented! They should give Melissa another chance to sing. The scene would have been funnier if Tim actually walked in on her "auditioning." Can you imagine him yelling at her? Lol 😆

I fell in love with Melissa over 10 years ago watching old performances of her on Canadian Idol. Last I saw, she had just played Eponine in a Toronto run of Les Miz. What a pleasant surprise to check in on her a couple months ago and find out she's now a legit actress on a Primetime American TV show. I can't think of anyone who deserves it more! 😍

They should add a final scene showing the reaction of the judges after she ran off. That would be gold.

Find the song "Alive" by Melissa O'Neiil. She recorded it in 2005 after she won Canada's version of Canadian Idol. It went Platinum 4x. She was an underdog and ignored in Canada's Idol by the producers in the tryouts and then qualified for public voting by a fantastic performanc. After that surprise and scoring in the top 10 in public votes, they paid attention to her. When the public voting started, the first two weeks, she was in the bottom two and the fear was she would be voted off. Then she took off with her performances and won season 3. She overcame all odds to win that season, then had the hit "Alive." Oddly enough, she only started singing a couple of years before trying out for the show - sort of like it happened with acting. She is just incredibly talented. Note they trusted her voice so much they did not put music to it.
