🐙 Meet Lucy, the playful octopus! 🦞 She'd rather hang out in her jar than eat her lobster friend. She's one unique cephalopod! #OctopusLife #LucyTheOctopus #octopus
Maybe she enjoys having a confined space to rapidly exert and release tension back and forth. From what I see she enjoys a lot of room in her tank, so this is probably a unique space for her. Could be the octopus version choosing to walk along a curb to stimulate balance.
In a world full of irregular objects, the inside of that jar must be fairly zen as its so symmetrical and uniform. Maybe she finds the mental model created by constantly feeling around inside it to be relaxing.
They are very intelligent, & just like other smart creatures (e.g. humans), mental stimulation is sought after. Laughing at an image of Lucy relaxing with a crossword puzzle book. 😋
I’m a salt water enthusiast and a new empty nester. I want to set some tanks up and basically do a local rescue ‘tank room’ for salt water friends instead of buying any of my own. I see so many people who don’t know what they’re doing (shoutout Petco). This is inspiring.
Perhaps she is intrigued with the transparency, but feeling of the glass boundary she feels by the pressing her body against the transparent sides. Wish she could tell us what she is experiencing. I notice that she places a tenable or two out of the top of the jar. Maybe someday we can neurolink with an octopus.
She seems to like the smooth texture of the glass! She looks like she is feeling it and rubbing her beautiful body against the inside of the glass! I may be completely wrong, but that’s what it looks like to me!❤❤😂
Probably needs some stimulation. The tank is basically a boring open Space. Give it some shells to play with and hide in. Some tunnels/caves to crawl through.
WOW Dude! I honestly don't know why this is so enthralling...kinda creepy but I'm ignorant about octopi...I've eaten many, but as a pet? Fascinating!!!
