I freaked out too when they announced that they were gonna work together! Been following Scouting For Girls since their first album release. So great to see both of them working together for a song and a cause.
I’m guessing that girl was in love with her best friend and told her, and her friend didn’t feel the same way, but she appreciates the honesty and still cares for her friend and wants to make sure her friend is still ok! I relate to that situation, and I love how Lucy has portrayed it
OncerPotterPendragon I thought the same to begin with but I think that it’s simpler than that, one of them has had a break up or a bereavement and the other person is just there. Even if they’re not doing anything her friend is by her side so she’s not alone.
thats a fair interpretation at first imperssion of it. but i actually would respectfully disagree. i have had chronic depression and anxiety disorder all my life. im speaking from a guy's perspective but the thing about mental illness is the struggles are relateable whether man, woman or other identity. each of the stories are about struggles that the person is going through and trying to open up to their friends. The song and video are about the shame and self consciousness people with mental illness go through in trying to open up. There are times you want to open up to a close friend, but you also dont want to be a "downer", there's a part of you that thinks they may judge you, or maybe you'll say something that offends them, they'll get angry with you. whatever it is, there are a million things that go through your head. that to me is what she's trying to do, as with the other two men in the video. then there is the flip side, you can tell your friend wants to open up, you want to be a good friend but sometimes you dont have the strength to handle it, or you are going through your own crap and cant deal right now, so she gets up. i think we've all been on that side of the equation too. But then she realizes "no, i need to go back, my friend is in need, ill be there for her". They talk, she listens and embrace. thats the part i like about each of the three stories - one ive learned to open up and that feeling you get when your friends express that compassion to you is so powerful, game-changeing. anyway, a great video and message.
This song means so much. My younger sister took her own life a few years ago. It was her favourite song I wish she took this song's advice . But it reminds me of her so il keep playing now and then
Just seen Scouting for Girls perform this tonight and my unborn daughter (due in 6 weeks) gave my partner the biggest kicks during this song... beautiful and will now always be special to us both. Thank you Lucy and SFG
I know some days are hard But I know how strong you are The front door's open if you're broken Let's talk the night away Sometimes we get it wrong, stick the kettle on I spend my nights alone I keep these doors closed And it don't help me when they tell me That I should just man up Some days we get it wrong, stick the kettle on And if you're low You're not alone I hope you know Sometimes we get it wrong Stick the kettle on I find it hard to sleep I lost my self belief I didn't mean to but I seem to Have ended up so lost Sometimes we get it wrong, stick the kettle on And if you're low You're not alone I hope you know Sometimes you get it wrong Stick the kettle on It's seems forever, can't remember When I last heard you laugh sometimes we get it wrong stick the kettle on And if you're low You're not alone I hope you know Sometimes you get it wrong and we come undone Sometimes you get it wrong but I won't be long Sometimes we get it wrong, stick the kettle on
I don't know how she does it. She has a way of speaking to my very soul with her lyrics; a lyrical miracle. Well done Lucy for giving me all the feels xXx
@@milliedarby8915 great music to listen to and try to forget everything to, which are your favourites? No idea how her music isn't as big as others it's easily as good if not better :)
Remember peeps we're not alone during this hell we're stuck...we might not be able to pop round our friends and fams for brew in person but can still pop the kettle on and have good natter on the blower! Make sure you check in with your nearedt and dearest during this horrid time peeps...even the people from work! Including those you're not overly fond of. You never know who needs an ear to listen these days or simply some company.
I have social anxiety and depression. This song is good because people claim they know how you feel, but let me say. They really fucking don't. In my opinion, it's different for everyone and no one else can really tell you they know what you're going through because I don't believe they know how I feel, or what I'm dealing with.
Lucy is honestly a lyrical genius! Whenever I'm feeling low or need some music to sing my heart out to, I turn to her songs. I'm desperate to see her live, but can't arrange travel to London (closest gig to me). With two children to care for I can't make arrangements for an overnight stay either. Please come to Southampton or Bournemouth Lucy. 🤞😏💕
Literally Scouting for girls is actually amazing they deserve so much more for the great music they do and then to top it off You have Lucy aswell they both deserve way more amazing song
Was so excited for this song to be released and Spraggs certainly delivered! Another beautiful song, heartfelt lyrics, strong message and pure talent. You've absolutely smashed it, yet again!
Thank you Lucy. Ever since audition 1 x factor I've followed your music. Your very inspirational. You probably won't see this. But thank you for the wonderful years of music. I hope you continue. Your outstanding. Thanks again. Good luck
I believe your time will come Lucy but it just saddens me that you’ve not received more fame from everything that you do!! I’ve been following your journey from your first audition speaking about how you worked as one of them people who holds the clipboard that everyone avoids 🤣 so proud of your evolution!!! 💯💯
This is amazing! I am never disappointed by any of the music you release. Everyone can relate to your music. Stick the kettle on has such a strong and important message & I hope that anyone listening to this who are struggling & finding times hard can find someone to help them, someone who they can talk to in confidence. Sometimes it's hard but talking to someone helps so so much. I think Lucy you have an addiction to tea...but then again isn't that every Brit haha xx
i have been struggling this past year, severe depression and totally relate to the lyrics and video. its been my go to video when i need a boost. such a powerful song and music video!
I discovered this song just yesterday through Spotify and I can't stop listening to it. I've always liked Lucy Spraggan and stopped watching the X-Factor after she left (I felt it had peaked at this point and could never reach those highs again) and Scouting for Girls are a great band but I love the message of this song, and having had a really rubbish day today, it's kind of cathartic to listen to too...
This song is amazing! One of the best collabs I’ve heard! Definitely my fave song now!!! Love your music and Scouting for Girls music so I screamed when I saw you had made music together!!! 💕 xxx
Love this song. Absolutely inspiring and one great tune. It really does help especially when your down and need something to pick you. Also a cup of tea can help alot.
Loooove this gal!! She's absolutely Amazeballs and her voice is everything. How is she not HUGE, I will never understand that, I remember first hearing her song "last night"!!! Best song ever. 💜🎶💙
