I prefer steel, especially for the lower priced drums. My favorite wood snares are a little out of my price range

I put the Ludwig drum head on the resonant side, added a Tama 42 strainer, and Evans HD dry on batter.

I have two of these. The 8" and the 6" depth. Both of them are outstanding. Granted I did swap the batter side hoops for die cast. An amazing snare drum and punches far above its price point.

I have the 6.5, it’s a great workhorse of a snare drum. I upgraded to some Super 30 snare wires and an Evans HD batter, and it just kills.

It’s held up great. I’ve had it for four years, much of that spent in the garage where I play my drums, and the chrome still looks good, everything works like it should.

I recently purchased a 14 x 5.5 Supralite and am very impressed with its overall tone, attack, sustain, and the ability to go quiet and then loud while still sounding great. So, yeah! I enjoy it!

Since the Supralite's came out they've been the best QPR steel snare on the market, imho. If you can't afford a Phonic, the Lite will more than get the job done........and some people actually prefer them. I always thought they were a bit brighter and crispier than a vintage Supra.

Bought this snare drum a couple of years ago. Modified it different ways by putting a small bit of birch in the middle of the shell. It has a crazy good punchy sound. Bright, but punchy.

Are the Supralite tube lugs the same part number as the tube lugs on the LM400T Supraphonic?

@@willymccabe6602 I dont like manipulation too get a drum to sound the way I like it other than quality heads and tuning of course. So many types of snares good to go out of the box imo

To everyone that commented here, this is why steel snares just aren’t good, or at least arent right for everyone. You shouldnt have to dampen a snare AT ALL to get it to sound good, and yet steel in general is just too much. Aluminum drums are just far better for that reason.
