That’s what my folks did. They got married and my dad adopted my two older sisters and I was born a couple of years later. And I didn’t realize it until I was like 9 and I was looking in the wedding album and was like why is everybody in the wedding but me 😂😂😂

I was just about to say this. People have been claiming and adopting their step children for decades. Especially if the other birth parent has died, have given up their rights, is incarcerated, isn’t in the picture or have abandoned their child(ren) (or whatever you want to call it). This isn’t a new thing people. If everyone else in the household has the same last name except the one child who was born prior to that new marriage or relationship, that child may be asking questions or feels some type of way. Especially if they see their step parent as their ‘real’ parent since the birth parent isn’t around. I honestly see nothing wrong with them changing her last name. It’s also easier for insurance and school purposes when dealing with younger children.

So do I; it is very becoming on her. 😊
