It’s cool that a lot of the exchanges of blows in this episode were callbacks to their fight at Enies Lobby, especially when they use their awakened forms and throw a single punch that sends each other flying back.

This fight was absolute perfection 0:40 The choreography is so beautiful! It's like something straight out of a fighting game 0:54 I love the detail of Lucci still relying on his iconic Finger Pistol even 2 years later 1:13 Luffy's landing was so sick

thing is that luffy wasnt using his techniques or conquerors so on a base level yes lucci can do well but its still clearly in luffies favour with him catching luccis hand and avoiding his attacks

In-universe, Lucci is a prodigy, it was supposed to be shocking that he ever lost. Plus he's been trained in Haki, AND awakened his devil fruit (which may increase his base form powers?). He's kind of insane

Honestly not sure what Lucci was expecting, though even with neither using their Devil Fruits much, the difference in levels still shows - before, Luffy had to use Gear 2 just to keep up with Lucci's Six Powers (before Haki kinda rendered them a bit moot) but now he's keeping Lucci at bay even in base form. It's not just Luffy's power and speed that have improved, it's his technique, too. Last time, Lucci nearly got a hit or two on Franky, but now there's a whole crowd nearby and Luffy's still keeping him easily focused on him.

If everyone went back to their 1st fight you see a massive difference where Luffy had a hard time hitting Rob Lucci and how much he struggled but the tables have turn and it's Lucci who's struggling. You might not notice that 1st punch and kicks made Lucci move, he even felt how strong those hits are even if he had blocked them.

I like how Luffy dodges some of the attacks without even looking at them showing his use of observation haki. Would make sense if you can sense attacks coming you wouldnt need to be looking at them all the time.
