Truly a miracle that the ziggurat of Ur has stood tall throughout the millennia. Sure it doesn't look the same as in the golden days of the Sumer civilization, but it still puts me at owe how it survived all the conflict surrounding it. Most defenitly a testemony of the enginiering skills of those who built it. Glad that the DAESH can't reach it now and never did. May it remain this way for many millennia to come.

As a descendant of the Akkadian/Assyrian people this video was very pleasant to watch. Also the destruction of our ancient cities is a terrible thing to witness, and I hope that the international community will be more diligent about protecting these valuable sites to help preserve them for future generations to be able to learn about some of the earliest civilizations.

The people back then actually thought the edge of the world was the Mediterranean. I'm thinking that's where they get the whole earth was covered by water in the flood myths. Mesopotamia is very interesting, this is the place where Civilization began and seeing such things makes me realize how much was wasted back then. Only some parts of it survived, sad, at least Egypt could preserve more. Speaking of beginning, a Ancient Sumerian setting would have been a better time to tell the Origins of the Assassins from Assassins creed. Hope we will see a video on Hypatia next.

Lagash-Lagaš is inconsistent on various maps however it's been accurately located. Maps showing it as near-coastal are incorrect, however its extended realm did reach the coast. Akkad-Agade was riverside along deep enough water to accept sea-going vessels. Akkad still hasn't been located. Odd note - the city name itself is not Akkadian.

Hey History Time i really like it when you pick Sumerian history or anything close to those times(egypt etc.) And as always i hyped again ^^ ! Although it really made me sad to see all those ancient art/text destroyed or being severely damaged :'(

Never underestimate the destructiveness of willful ignorance! Besides the wealth of animal life on this planet, I can't think of anything more essential to preserve than our collective human history; Specifically, the architectural iterations that illustrate our evolving minds. These works speak of war but they are for protection. They speak of god but they are so fully human. They declare cultural specialty but they reveal universal commonalities. I hope we can preserve these ancient constructions.

Informative and interesting video! I recommend fixing the issues with audio (music keeps changing jarringly) and avoid the overly-dramatic rhetorical style. Adopting a more natural method of describing these events would help. Just a few pointers!

I made it a point to avoid any information on the destruction of cultural sites by Daesh, knowing how much it would hurt. Now as I've seen this, I feel that all efforts should be made to eradicate such vermin from the gene pool. I was one for understanding and respect, to an extent inclined towards forgiveness even, but a limit seems to have been crossed, the scales have been tipped. This must be 1% of the way it felt for all the ancients that saw their heritage destroyed by the latest despot that decided to conquer their land :(

I'm very curious about if it is at least one city from Ancient Mesopotamia still inhabitted up until modern days? I know that Mosul-Nineveh kinda fits this, but still there were more than 1000 years between destruction of Nineveh and foundation of Mosul.

I'd love to know what texts you refer to, for this summary. I have read the cuneiform from the period (there isn't all that much), and this is nothing like what I encountered. Perhaps you have source material unknown to major online archives. I've never read anything from the period that hint at the kingdoms and campaigns you describe, prior to Sargon. Yes, Lugash was overthrown, but there were reasons for this, set out in the Lugasdh cuneiform cones. They tie into the rise of Sargon. One cannot make such sweeping documentaries of this period, I do not think. There is simply too little actual evidence. Indeed, almost nothing at all can be argued without reference to each specific sentence, as each sentence is very much up for interpretation.

And our God is different from the god of the churches which are around us. And these Catholics, Baptists, Methodists, and all those that you see around us, they are Iraqis, Jordanians, Lebanese, Syrians, Pakistanis and Arabs around us. Israel, it is the valley of the prophets and a son of God follows a living prophet because the prophet is the mouth of God on earth. The Bible is the book of the books of the prophets and a child of God cannot live outside of a living prophet. [Ed: The congregation says, “Amen!”]. 9. Put these things into practice and I say that those spirits that you took from them in the past will be sent back to them. And in the Name of Jesus-Christ, it will be so! Have a mastery of this subject: "the transfer of spirits". Burn those false bibles and the devil will know that he has no portion with you. Let those men know that you are not in the same dimension. 10. For you who come from the evening Message, there are some Branhamists who laid hands upon one another during the washing of the feet. By trying to represent the Lord Jesus Christ, God will make that it is Judas that you will represent and place in your house. 13. Separate from what is impure. You see? We have not yet spent three years together but if I returned after spending three months on a trip, will you not recognize me? Then, how is it that three days later, in broad daylight, Simon Peter, Thomas, John, James and the other disciples who were fishing, did not recognize the Lord Jesus? All the same! You see? And Mark 16 says… let’s read that: "And after these things he was manifested in another form to two of them as they walked, going into the country". Why? Because He is the Almighty God! And you, sons of the devil, you have ended up giving Him a representation. But I have the certainty that this so-called photograph of Jesus is closer to Judas Iscariote than to the Lord Jesus. [Ed: The congregation says, “Amen!”]. 14. And I will end with this: Avoid saying, "God told me" because if it is not God, then you have called Satan your god. Thus, all those who are listening to you will receive that spirit. You can see right and clear revelations and nevertheless, it is of the devil. 15. And if somebody claims himself as a Christian and claims to have the Holy Spirit, if he rejects the midnight Cry, do not fear to tell him that he rather has a spirit of divination according to Ezekiel 33:1-9 and be pure of his blood on the day of the judgement. 16. And you know that it is more advantageous for you to preach the Message to your parents and acquaintances so that they may not seek to pray with you when you arrive at their homes… Go ahead of them! And be pure of their blood. Amen!

Very good mini-documentary; but it's "Sumer," not "Sumeria." More importantly, though, few people give Lugalzagezzi the credit he deserves, and you did. And why are people destroying all this stuff? Is it religious reasons or what?
