Remember the guy that challenged Lugh becoming the next head of the house was also a member of his house, but they were not first cousins. The way it works is if they can trace back to a common ancestor that was part of the house, they're part of the house, even if it's 10 generations back. Also, Dia doesn't refer to Lugh's mother as her aunt, or imply in any other way she's the sister of one of Dia's parents. Based on something I read years ago to kill some time, there are parts of the world where families will look to cousins first when looking for potential partners for their children, so as to keep marriages within the tribe/clan. You don't really get defects unless they're siblings. First cousins can, but much less likely. 2nd or further have pretty much the same chance as being completely unrelated, and I'm pretty sure Dia and Lugh are 2nd cousins at the closest. So if you're really hung up on it, you can think of it as they're distant relatives.
