I always felt so bad for Luigi. The lower his health, the weaker he calls for his brother, until his voice is cracking with desperation and what is only assumed to be pain.

I got Luigi's Mansion was I was 5 or 6 I remember being so scared that I couldn't play it that Christmas. 2-3 years later I decided to brave the ghostly mansion a second time with a stronger will and better skills. A few moments I can remember like they happened yesterday. 1. Seeing Neville for the first time. Every portrait ghost seemed to have this powerful presence, they knew Luigi was there but they weren't afraid of him. With Neville being the first he left quite an impact on me. Every other room up to that point was chaotic, multiple ghosts chasing you, never being able to stand still. But the Neville's room was relaxed, there was just one ghost in there, but he was stronger than anything I had faced up to that point. 2. The Blackout: At the age of 8 I still hadn't mastered playing this game, and I was nervous every time I entered a dark room. So when that blackout happened I was terrified. I had to go all the way back in the dark, fighting boards of ghosts the whole way. The sense of relief I felt after turning the lights on was amazing. 3. The basement: Reaching the basement was a huge accomplishment for me, I had overcome all the trials and was getting closer to King Boo. But the basement seemed so terrifying, it's a dark place where the sun doesn't shine and the exit is so far away. It didn't help that I was afraid of my own basement in the dark. But once I got down there I was greeted with some of the most interesting rooms and ghosts in the entire game. Overall Luigi's Mansion is a very emotional game for me, I'm not sure there is any game I remember more than this one. Every room and ghost is so deeply engrained in my mind, I can picture everything like I'm experiencing it right now. It's an amazing and should be held up as one of the greatest Nintendo games of all time, at least in terms of atmosphere and immersion.

I really love the “creepy aura” in Luigi’s Mansion, too. It’s a feeling I’ve never felt from any other game, and it’s absence from Dark Moon was probably one of the reasons why I couldn’t enjoy it as much as other people did. I haven’t gotten much far in Dark Moon, but, despite my dislike for the mission system, change in tone, etc, I still think it’s a pretty darn good game. 3 looks like it’ll follow something along the style of Dark Moon, but I’m still excited for it, and I’m glad that they’re keeping the series alive.

Although I love dark moons more comedic approach which made sense since it was targeted towards younger audiences. The creepy atmosphere of the original is perfect. Everything about it was off-putting in a creepy way. Luigi humming made him as a character more believable, since it is in human nature to do something comforting when scared, like humming. It’s so cool

While wandering the halls i kinda theorized about the portrait ghosts being one big family and figuring out their connections and how they died. Especially the toy soilders, bogmire, and the genie cuz they were odd balls. Then i tried to figure out who owned the actual house haha. Course i know now that king boo owns it and it just randomly appeared. But i liked to picture the ghosts alive and being a family and stuff

I wish they would model the new games off of the original Luigi's Mansion instead of what they've done instead. The original Luigi's Mansion had so much more character, but the new ones just seem more targeted towards a younger audience (which is understandable, but it keeps Nintendo from capturing that same eerie feeling of the original). I just wish they would at least bring back the idea of painting ghosts, instead of having giant, nearly generic boss ghosts. The rooms could use some work, too. I think the room layouts of the original game were better than the ones in Dark Moon. Hopefully the new game helps capture those same feelings. Especially since the Switch is many times more powerful than the GameCube

Well Dark Moon's different structure made sense given it was a 3DS game. The different structure worked better for portability. But the new one seems to follow in the Original's footsteps much more closely since it's also on a home console. Hopefully it fixes some of the problems the original had, since it did have some pretty major issues.

In Conker's Bad Fur Day I had the same moment where I wanted to explore areas that are off limits. I think it was in the catfish/cogs level (I don't remember the name). I've reached the top of the tower and looked at the lush environment, which is actually just a painted skybox. I could see all the locations where the events of the game take place. I knew I will visit them all eventually, but I just wanted to jump off the tower and start exploring everything beyond these areas. And yes, these backgrounds are literally taunting curious gamers. It was so much more interesting to me than what the actual game had to offer. Great video once again.

I was born in the late 64 era, early GameCube, so I used my uncle’s GameCube (my uncle used to live at my family’s house) and I occasionally revisit the game. Every time I do, I get that type of nostalgia you get when looking at pictures of you as a really young child, like you faintly remember doing it. One thing I always did in Luigi’s mansion when I was really young was (even though by then I knew the mansion was an illusion) imagine the people-like ghosts actually living in the house. I found the house sort of like an apartment, but everyone was related and everyone lived together, but you can imagine the rest of that. I also, especially around the time that dark moon was released when I was 9 or 10, drew my own mansions on paper and labeled the rooms and stuff, like the gameboy horror map, and imagined playing them . Occasionally, cleaning out my room, I find these drawings, and It brings back so many good memories. Thank you, whoever is reading this for reading this long. This is by far the longest comment I’ve ever left

I loved the secret rooms in Luigi's Mansion. Although they were optional, I never thought about leaving the treasures in these rooms behind. Sue Pea and her upside-down room was so cool to me as a kid. Bogmire terrified me when I was younger and I remember many a nightmare I used to get had Bogmire in it. I really like the second area the most because that's when the game truly feels open and it contains Biff Atlas, Miss Petunia, Nana, Slim Bankshot, Henry & Orville, and Madame Clairvoya, and Boolossus. Some of my favorite ghosts not in Area 3 are Melody Pianissima, Shivers, the Clockwork Soldiers, Vincent Van Gore, and Sue Pea.

As a kid, I sometimes turned all the switches in my old House of, grabbed my flashlight and played Luigi's Mansion by myself. I also had a Chest in which I putted my Room key. I also used all the other house keys to play a Luigi/Zelda adventure. Seeing the Mansion years later, in a more technical way, is interesting. As a kid, I just saw what the game wanted me to see, but now with all the discoveries you showed us, it makes the game so much more interesting. I'm always excited to see Videos about my first ever played games. Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Sunshine and The Legend of Zelda the Wind Waker are my first ever played Nintendo games. I spend many time playing with my sister and my friends the events of these games. I think that's enough nostalgia for now, but it's always nice to remember these things from my childhood. And it's all thanks to you Swankybox. You make me remember the great times from my childhood.

When I was 5 or six my brother gave me his old gamecube. It had originally 5 games, and the ones I played the most was Super Mario Sunshine and Luigis Mansion. The memories of this game will always be a highlight of my childhood.

Luigi's Mansion is by far, my favorite game of all time. I love it so much. My brother and I got the game when I was 8, (so 2003) and it was of course one of the first games we had on the console. I was so frightened of the game, I wouldn't dare play it by myself for years. I remember writing in the game manual "Don't play this game in the dark or by yourself, you will pee yourself!" But of course, I was 8, give me a break. Bogmire was truly the things that gave me nightmares, he was the scariest thing in the entire game. Everyone else had personality and was fun and had a human form. But he was just a goopy blob of terror. I remember my father had a friend over as my brother was playing the game, and he had gotten to Bogmire (for the 3rd time) and I ran to him for safety, but they were nowhere to be found. I was certain that Bogmire had taken them lmao. Now, as a 23 year old, I have him, Luigi with his Poltergust 3000, and Madame Clairvoya along with various gems and keys tattooed on my arm because of all the fond memories I have of this game.

The Aesthetic of the entire game was the best thing ever. To be honest I feel like the game was more entertaining with the creepy ghosts and the disturbing faces that Luigi makes in the game. It’s something that Dark Moon lacks. The dark aura in the first game was replaced with bright, clumsy ghosts and the sense that something is missing. Call me a buzzkill but I think that The first game was better because it was dark and miserable, I seemed to enjoy it that way. What I also enjoy from the game is the sense that, even if you have all the rooms cleared, you don’t feel safe. The game was made so well that I’d usually just get lost over how great the game was. I hear Luigi’s Mansion 3 developers is taking negative feedback from Dark Moon, and they’re bringing back the aesthetic of the first game (Portrait Ghosts, Darker color, No more “pixelating after every mission” so you can explore as you please, better puzzles etc.) I’m replaying both LM and Dark Moon in celebration of the release of the third game coming out soon.

I really like when you do these kinds of videos about your personal and imaginative experiences with video games, and the interest in unused content, lore, and mysteries within them. It’s something that I can really relate to. When I have a favorite game that I can just play over and over, like Wind Waker, Luigi’s Mansion, Undertale, etc, I become completely obsessed with wanting to know everything about that game as possible, whether it’s even in the game or not.
@dailynonsense9360

A good example of what I’m talking about is the discovery that you can kill the Forbidden Woods boss in Waker with Forest Water, or the beta version of Pokémon Gold and Silver being found out of nowhere, which took over a decade to find. You have no idea how I felt when I found out about that stuff! It’s stuff like that, the mystery of the unknown, the thought that a game you’ve played for years has been hiding something under your nose for so long, when you thought you knew everything there was to know about it, is so interesting. And the discovery itself feels like that long lost excitement you feel on Christmas morning.

I can agree that Dark Moon isn't ad great as the first game, seeing as they kinda went ham on the strings instead of going for a soundtrack similar to the first. The gameplay was better in some aspects, but could have benefited from being released on the New 3DS. But, there's one thing that the game does better than the first which is objectively true. *They. You talk about all of these GameCube era games, and it just reminds me of my childhood trying to explore the far reaches of Sonic Adventure DX’s hubs and levels as well as my days spending hours on the phone with my cousin talking about some random glitch we found in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and how we felt like geniuses finding off camera secrets that we could never actually access. Those worlds became part of my world as a child, and I don’t think many games nowadays can replicate that feeling. And yes, my childhood experience was limited to Sonic games because, as a kid, I ignorantly only care about Sonic and only wanted Sonic games. But with that said, Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey have been the only recent games that reinvigorated that sense of adventure and wanting to explore everything that I had as a child. As a kid, the worlds of Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 were as big and as real to me as the worlds of Mario Odyssey and BOTW are to me now. I never thought I would feel that same feeling from a game ever again, but those two games felt like a constant adrenaline rush of adventure and new discoveries. I will forever play these games until I’ve found everything, like I did with those games from my childhood. It’s a shame that no recent Sonic games have been able to replicate that feeling for me like Odyssey and BOTW have. I hope there’s a new Sonic game like that one day.

The most interesting room for me was the one down in the basement where everything was cold, and there were ghosts that wore these big fleece coats, and the ground was slippery from the ice. I would spend hours trying to beat the game without taking damage, scowering every room, checking every nook and cranny of the haunted mansion because I always believed that if you got every single treasure, you would get an S Rank Mansion, which of course isnt possible. I always imagined an S Rank mansion would be the A Rank Mansion but golden. Man, Luigi's Mansion was a good game...the remake for 3ds will be a bullet of nostalgia.

I have discovered something strange while I was playing Luigi's mansion during the blackout if you go back down the well and go to the alter you will notice that king boo disappeared then when you turn back on the power and go back to the alter king boo will be back. So the question is where did king boo go during the blackout?

Since you started with Dark Moon you're going to have different opinions on the OG if you ever play it. And I really wish the remake was on other things than just the Switch, so I could actually afford to play it.

I really Love your Luigi’s Mansion videos, because I Love how you get all the scenery and such from one of my favorite games ever made and let the viewers just view upon points of the game we couldn’t access, like on the roof, or the exterior of the mansion, and so much more.

(6:43) So fun fact about the Fortune Teller's room, I believe she is a reference to Madame Leota, a ghostly medium from Disney's Haunted Mansion. But Fortune Tellers in haunted houses are popular in media because they have historical roots in the Victorian Spiritual Era. Many people during those times sought to seek out spirits and ghosts in their homes, and often used Mediums and Fortune Tellers to contact entities, (even creating Seance Circles, dedicated rooms to summoning spirits.) So it makes sense that the former owners of Luigi's Mansion would have a special room for this reason. I like how they used it as a goal in the game, to collect Mario's lost items to find where Luigi's brother was kidnapped.

I have built Luigi's Mansion in Minecraft twice, Halo 5 Forge, and the Sims 3. I love the layout and I have SO much nostalgia for the original game. BTW, Luigi's Mansion in Minecraft is pretty good for hide and seek!

My favorite room was the music room. For starters, I loved the guess-that-Mario-game song minigame that you do to battle Melody, but I also liked trying all the different instruments and all the different combinations you could make.

My personal favorite room in Luigi's Mansion would probably be the Astral Hall, as lighting up the candles and the creepy music shortly following before multiple types of ghosts spawn gave it a more "evil spirit" vibe to it. And walking through the halls gave me a sense of loneliness, Luigi walking through bright, empty halls while whistling to himself, or a sense of paranoia when the halls are dark, walking through, humming to himself to help him keep calm, not knowing whats waiting just around the corner, if there IS even anything waiting there.Sorry that this is so long, I just had an overactive imagination as a kid.

I picked this game up when It first came out (was 4 at the time) and this game captured my interest so well and so quickly, I used to love investegating the rooms with the portrait ghosts if they weren't an immediate threat, and I really loved how you could scan the hearts of the portrait ghosts to kind of get a sense of their personality, this game was just great, as well as the video!

You perfectly summarized the feelongs this game puts off. These feelings are kinda the games downfall tho, since Dark Moon (and 3 by the looks of it) is just too friendly, not attempting to be creepy at all, like a Looney Tunes parody of a Dracula movie.

Hopefully the remake doesn't change too much, only adding minor charm that doesn't break the pacing of the game. And I SWEAR TO GOD IF THEY DO THE DARK MOON THING AND DROWN THE SOUNDTRACK IN STRINGS.

My favorite event in the game was the blackout too! I always loved when real blackouts happend, where I would then pretend my house was really some kind of haunted house and I had to explore it when I was little. I miss doing that XD. Even though all the ghosts were so annoying during the blackout it was still interesting taking a look at all the rooms during the blackout.

The billiards room always reminded me of how I first played pool with my mom and her friend and this also reminds how I played pool at a baptist church years down the line . Even though I told the kids there in the church I usually go to would not condone to this. The orchestra room reminds me of how musically inclined my family was. My gramps was a bass players. The hallways reminded me of watching Scooby doo and all the antic that happen while shagg and Scoob roam the halls for clues. Lastly Penelopes room reminded me of how I used to wet the bed a lot as a kid. But out of fear of the dark and monsters I had a wild imagination as a kid too so it didn’t help. Yeah I guess a lot memory’s can come a great game

I wanted a mansion not because I wanted a lot of space, but rather due to this game. So many different rooms and a maze-like quality are rather appealing factors. I even have dreams of this establishment where I even find rooms that aren't there originally.

Found myself in a Luigi's Mansion (King Boo) binge, and your videos came up. LM1 was such a fun time, even if I was a kid who got easily scared playing it at times. 😂😅But I would always replay it, no matter what as it was always fun to see the same halls and familiar faces. Without a doubt, the Observatory and the Ballroom are some of my favorite areas in the game. If I could just rebuy a GameCube, I could play my old files once more. Really missing it lately; especially after beating LM3 just recently. ♥

I still have dreams about Luigi's Mansion. Every time I do, it's so much fun that I'm nearly inspired to make a fan-game inspired by it, but my lack of skills in programming is the buzzkill. The dreams are never actually representative of the actual game, but they're clearly inspired by the look and feel.

My Personal Favorite Room (s) Are Actually The First Area Of The Game. I Remember Turning On Luigi's Mansion At A Friends House After Not Being Able To Play It For Years Before, Ever Since Grade School. Starting Up The Game And Showing My Friend (Who Never Heard Of Luigi's Mansion Before I Told Him) And Getting That Feeling Of Nostalgia. I Showed My Friend The Game By Beating The First Area, And He Liked It. I Hadn't Played It For 5 Years At The Time, So Being Able To Play It Again One Last Time Was More Fun Than Ever.

You dont need to capitalize every first letter of a word. All you need to capitalize are names, places, and beginning letters after periods, exclamation marks, and question marks. Sorry, but having every first letter capitalized made it kinda hard to read.

Growing up in the GameCube era Luigi’s mansion is for me what Mario 64 is for many people, it introduced me to the creepy/ horror genre and I still fucking love it, Nintendo will never be as daring and crazy as it was in the early 2000s This, smash melee, and Mario party 4 is what made me a Nintendo fan

Also I hate how Nintendo has portrayed Luigi recently i mean yeah he was scary in the LM series but wouldn’t you if u were going against the supernatural the whole game ? He is the most human of the Mario universe for me showing far more emotions than anyone, he is a badass/introvert dude and has been treated like a dummy lately

The sealed room was my favorite. The secret room, yes that's the name, I always thought was just kind of like a cool way to show off the mouse hole. But the sealed room was different. First off, calling it "Sealed Room" was already a target for discovery, and it felt more closed off because it was first shown from the middle of the game, and you could only enter it after the blackout. Adding the double barded door to the room made me think it was originally a trap or challenge. Even after collecting the treasure it still felt off. I once even unlocked the final door and went back to see if anything changed. Nothing happened, but even today it has like a secret base vibe to me. Also, I was wondering where the room to the boo trapdoor was. They just seemed to pop out of the void. (Which is a funny coincidence because they're spirits) Maybe I was just too sweaty back then.
