I’m not sure about that. People genuinely hate the way he plays especially old heads because they hated Harden as well. We just have to accept it’s a generational gap. If you lose playing iso ball the old head will come out the woodwork
@marcus8030 not buying it. Old heads are racist af usually so that doesn't really change much, we already know who is saying what. Comparing his style to Harden is such a lazy basketball take also. He is world's better.
What's up w/ y'all. Perkins praises Jokic and Caitlin Clark (just like Stephen A.🤷♀️) they just hate on Luka b/c he's European who plays like a blk player🔥🔥🔥
@@AprilHarmony9 and they try to say black people use the race card wrong lmfao they should never use it for what lmao dude defense sucks and iso ball don't win shit but individual stats
They said Booker was better. They said Zion was better. They said Morant was better. They said SGA was better. They said Edwards was better. They just hate Luka because he is white because Luka is clearly the best.
when was this? im assuming it was when trae and the hawks made it to the ECF and luka was out first round or something like that. If it was during this time then the opinion was valid at the time, but was obviously wrong in hindsight.
I just find it hilarious people pretend the exact same criticism of Luka didn’t happen with Harden. They have an issue with his iso ball offense heavy superstar
@@JoSaltzProtectionSquadno its cuz hes black ofc because you see everything has to about race no matter what. Even if you complain to the refs every play, play no defense and are overweight you cant get any criticism because thats racist to white people
@@fenixchief7 He was talking about his top 5 OFFENSIVE players of 2024 season [so current yes] and left a guy who has 34 with 10 assist per game off. Not best overall players even, but offensive focused. I don't think you can get more obviously racist than that.
Luka Doncic doesn't deserve the hate he gets, he's hardly ever been praised for the things he's done. EDIT: Stop slandering Luka's defense, he's never been a great defender, but this season he's massively improved, Luka legitemately overall played decent defense in the playoffs this season and he played some of the best lockdown defense I've ever seen out of his career in game 4 against the celtics. Anyone who says he doesn't play defense either is just a Luka hater or just has 0 ball knowledge.
Luka has been playing injured and made it to the finals on a team that wasn't projected to be anything but a fringe playoff or even play-in team at the start of the season. Crazy anyone can give him a hard time. Oh and he leads in steals and deflections BY A MILE. So he's definitely not useless defensively.
@@bikeman9419actin like other stars don't whine just as much. If anything, Luka is just more emotional. If he wasn't whining yall would have for sure found something else to hate him😂
Luka Dončić this season and he has taken two completely different teams to the Conference Finals in 3 years: • 34/9/10 • 1st in points • 2nd in assists • 73 point game (4th highest ever) • First 33/9/9 season in NBA history • Most 30-PT TD’s since MVP Russ • 1st in 25-point games • 1st in 35-point games • 1st in 40-point games • 1st in 45-point games • 2nd in 3’s made • Top 10 in steals • 61.7% TS • Highest scoring season in Mavs history • Most PPG + RPG + APG since the merger. • Most consecutive 25 point triple-doubles ever • Most consecutive 30 point triple-doubles ever • Lifted Mavs from 11 seed to 5 seed • Most games missed by teammates among all playoff teams • Mavs 50+ wins • Mavs 1st in clutch win% • 6th best record in entire NBA
And this Mavs team has only been together for 1 YEAR! Josh Green and Kleber are pretty much the only guys that have been there for a few years. This team is pretty young, they should be scary the next couple of seasons with Lively getting better and playing more minutes.
1st in getting the best out of the teams assets 1st in giving the ball to Kyrie at the right time (should be a stat for that!) 1st in inspiring his teamates to rise above 1st in pissing of Kendrik 1st in pissing off Stephen A 1st in pissing of Brian Windhorst 2nd in complaining to referees 1st in circus shots 1st (tie) in understanding the weaknesses of the NBA game (tied with Jokic) 1st in not choking
@@alrice2012yes it should discredit everything he says. He was a diversity hire, diversity in a sense that espn should have one guy who speaks all ass to create controversy
Analyst? Perkins is really just a commentator. A true analyst gives logical analysis with unbiased data to back up their info. But he’s all just strongly biased opinion and very racist. I think Perkins is by the worst and then SAS. Nick is after that, at least with Nick he is more knowledgeable although he is biased.
@@MmaMadman85No. Nick Wright manipulates stats ( just show part of it or a “sample size”) to push lies. Example: he will say that LBJ is the most clutch player ever because he has the most buzzer beater but won’t show you his actual full clutch stats. The full stats is that LBJ is 20 out of 114 shots with the game on the line , it’s abysmal. He is also very inconsistent with his arguments depending on who he is talking about. Terrible analyst and very dishonest.
@@awesomereviews1561 Bro, what the fuck do you think a debate is? Its a manipulation of facts and statistics to push your narrative. Again, you're mad at him for doing his job. He isn't a reporter or journalist so he isn't supposed to interview athletes and question them directly. He is supposed to give HIS OPINION in an entertaining way.
this is why i stopped watching these nba shows like first take i prefer listening to former or current nba players podcast during these playoffs they are more insightful
They don’t like Europeans or whites, and he’s both lmao. He’s also on a team with the one exception to the rule, kyrie Irving, and we all saw the slander campaign after the uncle drew trade so can’t say this is unexpected. I will say seeing Celtics and wolves fans hating on Luka, when they just gave Edwards a pass for being young and they’ve treated Jason Tatum like he’s still 18 and young, but Doncic can’t get one for having lackluster defense mind you in only this series? He was doing good defensively this entire post season up until the first 3 Celtics games and he’s being held up by duck tape and mental strength, we live in North Korea.
Fr. Yall saw that vid about Luka? That sht got on my nerves. It's another thing if his team was showing up along with his 2nd option. But nope😂kyrie was worse than holiday the 1st 2 games. If anything I'll blame Luka for game 3 but for that's like the culmination of the first 2 games. And he won't give the excuse, but he's also injured a lot.
@@junson3209 jokic doesn't get that though respectfully. He's been put in this pedestal even though his FO and coaching does a good job hiding his weaknesses. They're just clowning on jokic but all the blame currently are on Murray and MPJ. But when mavs lose now it's because of Luka even though Kyrie was sht the 1st 2 games of the finals.
@@junson3209 I like Skap but his Luka vid is dogshit and hes clearly biased towards Jokić because Jokić played absolutely abysmal defense in that game 7 loss to the Wolves yet in HIS case Skap goes for the obvious "his team mates let him down" but Luka is somehow meant to do everything himself at a top level WHILE injured. People in general also brush off the injuries as if they're nothing, the man has to get painkiller injections to be able to play from the Sprained knee, hurt ankle and chest injury.
Luka plays w/ a certain grit that you don’t see in other Euro players in the NBA. What Iverson said about him is why the new and old media hate on Luka🔥🔥🔥.
ESPN is the most hateful network on TV. They spend 95% of their time trashing athletes. Although I’m a Mavericks fan, I don’t want to watch a show that bashes Trae Young for an hour. Luka never does anything that warrants the hatred from ESPN. He had a 73 point game and ESPN and TNT spent all their time bashing him saying they need to change the rules. Not one person praised him for a 73 point 75% shooting game. Everyone must stop watching the mainstream HATER sports shows. Podcast are better. They talk about sports.
I hope his obvious bias is not based on race. Perk is so self- contradicting. Anthony Edwards basically flopped against Mavs and Luka handled the Minnesosta's league best defence. Move the goal post is a good way to put it. PS I'm a mixed race guy from the Caribbean
As it stands, at this age, Luka has a better record than Jordan. He may not end up better but that fact itself is impressive. Plus he's playing with one other recognised great(Kyrie) and then rookies and cast offs. Who, are playing amazing with him and Kyrie, what the Mavs done this year is remarkable.
True but its also meaningless. You can't give Luka a break because his team doesn't play well and then lift him up above Jordan when Jordan had FAMOUSLY horrendous teams for the start of his career. Similarly you can't really lift LeBron up above everyone because "look at how terrible the teams he carried to the finals were" when his conference was absolutely ABYSMAL to the point it makes this years Eastern conference look stacked...
@@DebasedAnon Maybe true, but not fact based. It's a fact Luka's Mav's have had better records and have gone farther in the playoffs than Jordan's Bulls in the first few years. Won-loss records can't be argued. All the 'lifting up teammates' and weak conferences is another argument.
@@greggibson33 I mean... they got eliminated in the first round multiple times then had a great run to the WCF off the back of Luka and Brunson, then missed the playoffs entirely now they made a good team and got to the finals. Jordan likewise lost in the first round to one of the greatest teams ever assembled while his team was literal drug addicts then got a single great player and proceeded to do 2 three peats. Also comparing age 25 Luka and Jordan isnt exactly accurate since Luka came into the league at 19, its not the same number of seasons... The Celtics Jordan went up against were vastly superior to the LA Clippers Luka went up against, they're also superior to pretty much every team in the 2020s. Neither Luka nor Jordan had help but Luka having Brunson (even though he hadn't yet developed into the superstar he is now) is much more help than Jordan had.
SGA is probably better imo, more athletic and better defender but Luka is more of a leader, he wants all the smoke. My top 5: 1) Luka 2) SGA 3) Jokic 4) Giannis 5) Ant
@Te.le.gram_Uncut_Hoops. That was about the content. The "That boy is good" jump cut was a hilarious - and appropriate. Luka and the Mavs did exactly what they needed to. Not just a blowout, but an embarrassing blowout. Anything less and it's just a fluke win to keep from getting swept. A blowout sends the message to everyone "We CAN be the first ever 3-0 comeback." Will they do it? Probably not. But the point is, they COULD. No one believed that, probably not even the Mavs, until the Celtics gave up in the 3rd quarter of game 4. Right then, it became real.
Luka going to the conference finals and NBA finals by age 25 is nothing to scoff at. The real test will be the next 5 years. Will he get a championship because that's all that matters. I could care less about his superb stats because LeBron and Harden had plenty of stats and they're criticized relentlessly for stat padding
I don’t know who this guy is, but for sure he is the best, real analyst in the world with a very funny voice. Hey ESPN!!!!!!! Give this guy a job so u don’t get embarrassed anymore with all those clowns that u have now😂
Luka has to score first and foremost for the Mavs to have a chance against any play-off team. He has to be all-defensive as well? Sure his defense has room for improvement but PJ and Gafford were brought it for the obvious reason- the team had to improve defensively. Dallas doesn't want Luka being gassed like the Antman, a younger, injury-free candidate for face of the league
Part of the problem with sports analysis is this insistence on asking who's better/the best all the time. It encourages spitefulness and bad faith debate. Who cares? It's a question that will never be answered objectively or conclusively. ESPN used to be so much more legit before they realized the ratings potential in heated debate shows.
Luka has figured out every defensive scheme thrown at him in the playoffs while far from being 100% fit. On that basis alone he can be called the best. The harshest of critics will give reasons why not to..
The face of the NBA is a European White Man. That is not acceptable too people with his mentality. The players all know how good Luka. One simple test. What team in the league if Luka were placed on would he not be in charge of or there Leader. There is not one; he is simply that good.
It takes a lot of effort to do what Luka does on offense. He gets fouled on almost every possession. He is so big, that they try to mug him every possession. So, how does he maintain his energy? He basically goes down and plays a zone on defense. It is smart. Also, he is one of the top steals guys in the league. No one mentions this. People who think Luka isn't playing defense just haven't played sports. Is he a lockdown defender? Nope. But name me a lockdown defender who can average a triple double? There isn't any. Basketball is a team sport. Everyone has their roles.
The thing with Luka is he ABSOLUTELY CAN be a lockdown defender, he was one in Game 4, if you look at the FG% of the players he guarded he was locking them up and got a bunch of steals as well and he's done it several times throughout the playoffs so far so people all turned on him when he stopped doing it in the Celtics series but they ignore the fact that the offensive load has shifted drastically in his direction due to Kyrie not showing up in game 1 and 2 and the Roleplayers not showing up in game 3. I think he has the talent and basketball IQ to easily be a fantastic defender but what keeps him from consistently being one is the fact that he has to give 110% on offense and sacrifices defense as a result, just like you pointed out. And yeah Jokić played absolutely atrocious defense in game 7 vs the Wolves yet everyone cut him some slack cause "his team mates didnt show up" which is fair enough but keep the same energy for Luka in that case...
Luka is kind of fat though. He needs to get in the gym more. He can't defend guys like Tatum or Brown that are just better conditioned physically and shredded. I hate to see Luka become a Melo or Shaq and never reach his peak due to lack of training. Shooting 3s all day in practice is great but hitting that treadmill will help his game much more.
@@richardolney1822 Terrible take. It's not affecting him negatively at all, in fact his strength is one of his greatest assets and hes used it to stop much bigger players as well as bully smaller players. He doesn't need to run faster or jump higher at all... Also what are you talking about he "can't defend guys like Tatum" he literally locked him and everyone else down in game 4... This is the type of bs take that's made from watching 2 games out of the entire playoffs and judging based off that, it's dumb.
Keep in mind that Luka puts the ball in Kyrie's hands a lot. This is a good thing and there should be a stat for that. Not an assist but just letting Kyrie do his thing. It's smart and probably the main reason they are in the finals. They learned how to play together this year. Lively and Gafford are a big impact and gelling nicely with their roles and playing at a higher level than anyone expected of them.. Why? Because Luka and Kyrie are teaching them how to play this style of ball they have created. This is another huge strength of this team. Luka is the reason. He takes assets and uses them to beat the other team. Another stat idea. How much better does Luka make the role players? Plus Perk is a jerk.
The Mavericks have won the minutes that Luka’s been on the floor, that right there disproves these media clowns and their narratives. That was true even before game 4 too.
They glazed the mavs. Not him. You forget that every loss was on Luka. And they lost 5 games before the finals. Shtty thing is they didn't even mention how injured he was. But they all wanna cry "Mamba mentality" 😂
@@jjcometa9333 no they glazed Luka. Then when they started losing they blamed Luka. I watched espn everyday before the finals. They showed HIM all the love and used Kyrie as the sidekick. All that mavs in 4 or 5 talk, was because of him.
Boston cruised through a lame eastern conference while juggernauts in the west were going to war. The only team deep enough to beat Boston would have been the wolves
It's always the same Klutch Sports cronies that hate on everyone not associated with their brand. All these talking heads who were falling over themselves to crown Edwards, where the same ones that were quick to pounce on Luka's game 3 performance. The most pathetic thing is that even so-called unbiased youtubers like SKAP were picking up the media narrative. Props to Uncut Hoops for always keeping it real. These play offs and finals really showed me who' s who.
