@@lyinbobbycottonseed Lebron said it best, when you're at this level its not all about talent its about IQ. Its why Boston lost to the warriors in 2022. Now they've grown from that.
Yea they kept raving about their offensive skills. However, Kyrie and Luka are below average defenders. Curry and Klay will be the best backcourt because they complement each other.
Luka’s Defense has been a travesty in this series….. the fact with 5 fouls, he is attempting to go for a charge on Brown with full momentum ahead for Brown. It just displays a lack of defensive awareness, super poor choice.
Not just this series. In 2022 when they lost in 5 to the warriors too. The warriors were telling all the players to just go through luka. I saw rookie moody going at luka for easy baskets. Poole and all the young guys. That was their strategy.. luka's defense has always been horrible.
Answer this, if Lukas supporting cast makes their open shots in game 2 and 3 the Mavs win those. Is it actually hurting his team. Not really. You literally had Tim hardaway have a wide open 3 at the end of the game and it didn’t even come close to going in. That’s all of Luka’s teammates.
@@reybat4969But that isn’t leadership. If you’re gonna go there then recognize the OKC series where Washington shot the best he’ll ever shoot from 3 to give them an unusual boost. His lack of talent AND effort defensively is stain on this series. You can’t simply outscore Boston. They aren’t the Pacers.
A 22 year old physical specimen ‘89 MJ Edwards was exhausted by guarding Kyrie. Yet Minny coaches couldn’t figure out to do the same to Doncic as he rested on defense and played safety. Well, the C’s figured it out. Well done.
They all figured it out, and tried going at Luka, but the problem was, refs were not calling these fouls on him, or the help defense. Dude was hip checking, impeding with his knees and thighs, reaching in, slapping hands all playoffs and there were no calls, plus he was selling offensive fouls, like this last call, so the opponents had to quit going at him - it was simply not worth it.
Luka deserved that criticism. He is turning out to be too whiny like a kid who loses his toy when calls don’t get his way. Other players complain too but Luka is on another level - he whines like a little kid.
There are a lot of people who lost a lot of money because they listened to ESPN and FS1 analysts claim Boston and the East were trash, and the Mavs were a super team. 😂 😭
This man’s insight on Luka was amazing. This was a professional assessment based on what he has seen firsthand. Sometimes these situations are needed for players to grow and mature!
@@irvingzeistman9828that’s not hating, it’s literally just pointing at the stats. Everyone loved to point out Tatum and Kyries shooting inefficiency, why can you do the same for Luka? Why y’all trying to protect him 😂
Two weeks ago the narrative was Luka is on Jordan's level and him and Kyrie are one of...if not the greatest backcourt of all time. Now all of those folk look as dumb as Luka and his turnstile defense
@@lance1097 Brown didn’t flop 😂 your favorite player was lazy and pathetic on defense the entire series, complained to the refs on every play, and then inexplicably jumps in front of Jaylen with 5 fouls, never establishing legal guarding position, and fouls out because of his own stupidity and poor judgment. A little self reflection goes a long way.
@@Toucansam46 brown fell to the ground like a little beitch and got the call. You're gonna tell me he's that weak to fall down when luka got in his way. Either he flopped or he's a weak b!tch
@@DaFactsNoNonsense1713you know it’s common to drink a beer after putting that much energy out. I guess you wouldn’t know that since you don’t know what in shape is.
I don’t understand how a 24 year old man who’s got the best training staff, private chefs, world class medical, can be so winded and chubby. A PROFESSIONAL athlete.
I mean defence is effort zbo was chubby too but he moved his feet. Luka is actually better if he don’t play defence let helpside defenders deal with it instead of trying and fouling dudes
What really spoke to me tonight was the JB dunk at the end of the 3rd. Hauser came off Luka to set the screen on Kyrie and Luka, instead of switching, just stood there and let JB drive into the lane and dunk right over the Mavs big men. One simple lack of effort on defense- sold out his entire team there. Kyrie can’t trust him to get his back. His bigs can’t trust him to slow down an elite slasher before he gets to the paint. For all his absurd talent on offense, his lack of effort and talent on defense has been even more apparent
The Mavs should write Windy a massive paycheck, because his dressing down clearly had an impact. And I'm saying that as the biggest Luka fan out there....
Saying that a 25 yr old superstar will never be a winner is pure idiocy. He has been to the WCF twice and now the Finals. That's winning..Celtics are a better, deeper, and healthier team. Kudos to them. He's one of the best in the league.
It's really rare to see Windy go this hard on a player. Windy is always professional and gives "his" honest opinion always without throwing a player under the bus. Can't say I disagree with him.
In fact i view him as an apologist for the players but the lack of D by Luka and the incessant whining was too much for him to ignore. But then again most people watching had already reached the same opinion. Alan Iverson had more respect for practice than Luka has for playing D
@@jadencandelario7880lol tatum had a 51 point game 7 last year against the sixers… a nba record. But yea this is his one and only playoff moment lol gtfoh you dirty casual.
He learned from Cuban but now it is part of his DNA. The real stars say it quietly to the ref with a few words or a quick look rather than trying to look like their auditioning for 90 Day Fiance
Which tells you how dumb he is. Its common sense just from human psyche that pissing off refs all night is only going to make every 50/50 call go against him.
Y'all must not be watching the same game I did because Luka gets every call on offense lol he just thinks he's supposed to get every foul when he shoots period lol I've never seen any one think they suppose to get a foul called on every single shot he miss lol
No, refs are just corrupt and favouring Boston, who are already stacked to the gils. By the way let's not count the amount of choke jobs this team has provided in the play offs
He can play pretty decent team defense but he has never been great individually. The Celtics have so many more dynamic scorers than the other teams Dallas has faced so far. The Celtics are forcing him to guard the perimeter by putting 5 shooters on the court but at the same time are attacking him in the lanes and in the paint with slashers. Kyrie is getting targeted too but at least he is contesting shots and making an effort. Luka is okay at shifting, reading offences, and anticipating plays but when he has to actually step out and guard someone he crumbles. This isnt a secret. Celtics just have a great gameplan and the players to actually attack him.
A lot of folks were ready to crown Luka and Kyrie the best duo in the league. Nope, they are playing the best duo in the league and the Mavericks are on the brink of elimination.
Yall all owe Draymond Green an apology. Had the nerve to go in on him when he said Steph and Klay is the greatest backcourt of all time. Everyone said NOOOOO, its Luka and Kyrie...lol. sign your name in the reply to start an apology list.
Suns were up in the finals and Booker dropped 40+ in game 4 and 5. Jrue Holiday outplayed CP3 in gm 5 that swung the series. I think he's one of the biggest reasons the Celtics will be champions.
That’s not remotely true. Their players 3-8 aren’t making wide open shots. These last 2 games are close enough to where if he gets any help from those players they win these games.
Despite what everybody thinks Luka is actually playing decent defense, Celtics only shot 30% last 3 games with Luka as the primary defender although he needs to keep his act together and not cry after every single call, game 3 i've seen 2 plays when he was arguing with the official on the one hand and celtics got a 4v5 fastbreak on the other.
I have been saying this about Luka his entire career. The need to start kicking guys out of games for crying about refs, Even if its my team I do not want to hear the crying
Luka needs to get into better shape, he looks gassed by the time the 4th quarter comes around and definitely should heal up. Plus it doesn’t help complaining when he’s the leader of the team, sets a bad example and shows that they are getting flustered!!!
What is Brian talking about. Luka is the reason they were somehow in the came in every game of the finals. If anything, the supporting cast should start playing and making some shots. How is Hardaway Jr. still in the NBA is beyond me!
Lukas finals actually reminds me a lot of Tatums first finals. Not the shooting obviously, they’re different players. But in terms of body language and how he’s talking to the officials instead of getting back on defense, it’s very similar immaturity and frustration. Tatum has matured since then, he no longer barks at the officials after every play. In fact, he had a fast break dunk in this game which was by far the most egregious no call of the series to date where the guy tried to intentionally foul to prevent points and they didn’t call it. What did he do, shook his head a little while sprinting back on defense. Never said a word about it, that’s what luka needs to change.
NBA is a team sport. Doncic can't do everything. In Game 4, he tried to do more on defense and got caught with 6 fouls for the first time in his Playoffs career. But honestly, too many bad calls against Mavs that Doncic just gave up on referees.
My brother and I said to each other while watching this game "Luka just cost Dallas the game with that last foul." Poor defensive decision making, especially when he already had 5 fouls and Dallas was clawing back that 4th quarter.
Bro is playing injured the whole playoffs allready and ppl keep wanting more and more out of the dude... like come on give a dude some break. Ye he complains and all, i want to see u guys go and play injured and see how u do.
How a player almost averaging a triple-double at 30ppg OWE ANYTHING.??? x 5 = 150 points. A BLOWOUT WIN! Positions in Basketball: C,PF,SF,SG,PG. There is no STAR position! Get a grip of what you say. It's WORSE than trolling... becouse u actually serious.
Doncic is a liability in defense, ok, but still this type of scrutiny on him, and the tone of the judgement are disgusting. Never seen anything similar when analyzing more upsetting performances of american all-stars players.
Yes, Luka is hurt, and still plays poorly on defense cause he's gassed. But, leave it all like it was last night - only change the fact that SOMEONE else on the Mavs not named Kyrie could score - and Mavs win. THJ - 19 min. - 0 points! Maxi - 0! PJ - 12 points. D-live a rookie - 11. Gaff - 6! DJJ - 2! Green - 3! Exum - 2! The rest of the team together scored like one of Kai or Luka. Nobody can win that way. It's TURRIBLE! And they were all set up with open shots, bunnies, dunks - all missed. They are young, and will learn - but those are the facts. A sad team performance.
i have watched the NBA for 50 years and in all that time I have never seen any star player in a Conference finals or Finals be so disdainful of making any effort of Defense as per Luka. Alan Iverson had more respect for practice then Luka has for playing defense which is why he may be a top offensive player but he will never be a Top 5 all around player .
Luka was outplayed by SGA in Rd-2 & being outplayed by Jaylen Brown so far. But most of the so-called experts declared him the Best player in NBA after they beat the TWolves...Kyrie 10ast, 8reb & 2 stocks in 3 games.
Haters gonna hate . They don’t hate him for his performance they hate him for his race . Pro basketball has a racist problem neeeds to be addressed hope the networks at least grow a pair and address it .
@@jacoblozano1787 I happen to do a lot of critiquing professionally and that is not constructive criticism, just a bunch of jurnalist assholes having a go at Luka, not being able to contain themselves at any time. It is obviously you who is not capable of understanding what a sacrifice and doing something through pain means.
@@jacoblozano1787so where is that “constructive criticism”for his buddy LeBron? When has he ever called him out for not playing defence? No Windhorst is too fond of that Klutch paycheck
As a mavs fan he told no lies...he is a serious liability on defense...i knew what kind of game this was going to be when he came 1st quarter with back to back 3pt bricks like he was in a And1 tournament...They were up by 10 and he just killed the momentum with that trash
Luka is lucky he didn’t foul out earlier than he did, because he can’t control himself when it comes to yapping at and practically taunting the refs with complaints…not getting back on defense because he’s whining (while already being a defensive liability to begin with) is a glaring deficiency in his overall game that always costs his team valuable possessions that are hard to overcome when it comes down to crucial minutes during momentum swings. He has to get it together on this front or they’ll never get over disciplined, intelligent teams like the Celtics.
He's so good at basketball - especially seeing the floor and leveraging his size - that Luka can often make some decent plays on D when he's giving, say, ~ 70% effort, and can get by with giving a lot less. But that ain't it when you're in the finals playing against a rare team like Boston. Everyone on the Celtics trains cardio/maintains min. body fat% like a maniac just to be able to give max effort on D every game, all game...and the contrast is STARK. But still agree the most frustrating thing is he's still blaming the officials. With 5 fouls and 4 min left in must-win game of Finals, it's ridiculous for the offensive heart of a team to attempt a charge out on the perimeter, period. RIDICULOUS.
Windy is tolerable out of all the big media names. He doesn’t make absurd takes but rather just floats around it. He doesn’t stir drama too. Glad to see Luka being called out, but I’d rather see Celtics get the credit they deserve defending him. We had a game plan against him and it worked. Look at tonight’s box score and you’ll find that Celtics mathematically are destroying the Mavs. Luka has his way on two pointers. But he was 1-7 from 3. Celtics shot as a team, around the same percentage but made 8 more 3’s. It means that when Luka is attacked he gets worn down by the Jays whether they get a bucket or not. He’s using energy. Then on the other end they deny 3 pointers and make the two pointers as difficult as possible. He makes it look easy but halfway into the 3rd he looked visibly tired and started getting blown by again and again. Eventually the math catches up. Celtics had 4 less FGA but won by 7.
Too much being blamed on Luka's defense. Kyrie needed to match Luka point for point in games 1 and 2 and only got 12 and 16 points. You win one of those and this is a different series. By game 3 the writing was already on the wall.
I'm a Mavs fan, I actually work at the AAC where they play and Windhorst is right...most nights luka cries for fouls while the other team is running down court 5-on-4, and when he do get fouls he goes 1-2, or 0-2. I really hope this asswhipping encourages him to step his game further.
Injured ankle, injured knee, & injured chest....OF COURSE Luka is a defensive liability ppl! I agree that Luka has to stop complaining to the refs, but keep in mind he's 25yrs old. Every player goes through growing pains & Kyrie is a perfect example. Its called experience.
Luka has given everything he has this series, i wouldn't be so tough on him. But maybe tough love is required, cause it's true about his back and fourth with the refs all night. That's the worst part of the NBA right now is how players are throwing up their hands after every shot. To be fair, Tatum does the exact same thing, he has slowly been getting better though. You saw it though when Tatum had that huge momentum dunk, big basket for Boston, and instead of celebrating, he throws up his hands and complains about the no foul call.
Seriously - how do you think he has "given everything " with his complete disdain for playing D and do not pretend he has ever played an D. You are not a dragon but a jester. He has a chance to learn from this and grow the F k up
Bro is playing injured give him a break, Boston is a super team, it is crazy you really think Dallas with only kyrie and Luka was gonna win, ain’t no way
@@jrcrit8843 bro is averaging the most points than everyone playing in the series and you don’t wanna take that into factor. You can see the ignorance 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ive been saying this about Luka. He aint going back to the finals imo. His body type, lack of steph curry level conditioning and with the supermax, the mavs wont have enough to pay everyone and with his game/body, and the west, no way he gets back to the finals
And still he cooked your favorite player. You fanboys will never learn. It’s not about who makes the craziest dunks, but about those who actually know how to play basketball
