He lost the mvp race purely because of team seeding. He had a few minor injuries aswell. Also he never finished a season having the highest ball possesion %. Now include subjective factors like Luka taking insanely harder shots than both Jokic and Embiid who are centers, getting their points mostly from the inside. Luka always takes the clock end shots. His teamates were mostly not good catch and shoot guys otherwise he would have averaged an easy 10+ assists every season so far. Also he has been the most double teamed per possesion player for the last 3 years. Oh and by the way hes years younger than all of his mvp co contenders. If there is a person in the world who deserves and has earned his mvp title it's Luka Dončić. In reality Luka is miles ahead of everyone in the league. Don't even have to be a Mavs fan to see that

@@laxus6442 last season he had a game with 60 points, 21 rebounds, and 10 assists. He's only 24 years old right now. So he should be this good or better for the next 8 years or so.. and since he's not a player that relies on athleticism much at all, he should have a longer career than most.

If you twist that ankle or leg too badly one random night and it's pretty much over, over you are not the same player anymore. But like I said, he's got a better chance than anyone, because certain players would get a mild injury and then they are not the same player anymore because it limits their insane athleticism. They put creams on him, bandaged the swelling and he was back playing and win in pain that would have caused any other player to leave the game and immediately start treating the injury. Once Rick Carlisle talked about it and said he had never seen anything like it in his life. For Luka, there is no fear that he will not be at the same level after returning after a serious injury, because he comes from an environment with a particularly strong mentality quality and perception that such a thing is impossible.

The mavs are worse with kyrie. Luka and kyrie dont have good chemistry like other duos in the league. Hence bouncing from 4th seed to 11th last season. And if you watch the mavs this season, you can clearly see kyrie going out his way to take a step back and let luka be luka. With Exum and tim hardaway on court, it works better for luka as he has the entire floor to work with.
