I'm from PHX. I told everyone all year that PHX would not win a championship lol It's cause the city does not have a championship mentality. The year the Suns lost to the Bulls in the finals, the city threw the team a ticker tape parade for making it to the finals lol the bar is low
If Luka can win a title with this roster the league is in trouble. As good as Giannis is , he's not the half court offensive player that Luka is, and yes Giannis is significantly better on defense but I've always believed TEAM defense is as important as offense but individual defense is not nearly as impactful as an individual offensive player can be. When Luka is making shots I think he's in the same conversation as peak Jordan and peak LeBron as an offensive player, because he knows how to dissect a defense and it always feels like nothing can stop him other than a cold shooting night. He's better than Dirk and Dirk is top 20-25 , Luka is special.
Yeah, how the Suns passed on Luka is a head scratcher. How do you think Suns management feels about taking DA after watching Luka totally abuse the Suns defense? Of course, the Kings took Marvin Bagley ahead of Luka...crazy stuff.
Ayton averaged 24/11 on 68% shooting in round 1 when Booker was out. He’s a scorer, he just isn’t getting touches. Let him leave to Detroit or Pacers to pair with Cade or Haliburton. PHX can go be a 6th seed and keep out of luxury tax. That’s all Sarver wants anyway.
AYTON is a scorer. People forget to look at CP3 over the years. Every Big he play with stats drops (Doug West, Blake G. D. Ayton) the issue is CP3 is a guard that players better with other guards/wings player and not good-elite PF/C.
@@dbuck2862 exactly CP makes bad scoring bigs look good by spoon feeding them like Biyombo but he hurts scoring bigs by not letting them get a lot of touches and trying to play hero ball and putting too much pressure on himself at the end of games.
The Luka/Larry Bird comparisons are so lazy and uninspired. Bird played like a classic forward with remarkable passing ability. Luka plays like a prototypical guard that dominates the ball. But I guess the 2 being tall, White and great at basketball makes it an accurate enough comparison 😑
RU-vid “luka’s passing” and try to say he doesn’t have remarkable passing ability. I think Luka is clearly leagues above bird, but very similar shot and dominance
“All respect to Luka he’s been Luka 30 ppg for his career”. Actually it’s 33 ppg Eddie. I agree though Kidd deserves massive props. It’s crazy how over his head he looked first coaching job but is amazing now. I know it doesn’t happen right away for anyone and only as good as your team but it was hard to predict he’d be this great this soon after his first coaching to around. I just don’t think Kidd (or any coach) deserves more props then the super star transcendent player!
Yeah but his point stands, Luka’s numbers are relatively the same whether we win or lose but you right Kidd was the biggest factor. Got these guys bought in and it’s paying off dividends.. Luka and crew basically just punked the #1 team in the NBA and now everyone’s on notice lol MAVS IN 7
My problem with comments like that he made, and I’ve heard a few ‘Lukas doing Luka and…’ as though his feats are being a little swept under the carpet and let’s look at someone else. Is it possible for them to undervalue just how good this kid is and over look him? It feels that way at times with a lot of presenters. Luka is a phenom, we haven’t seen a play style like his really ever, elements of his game that you could lend to others, but as a whole, no. It’s 33pg Eddie and he’s one of the best to ever play ALREADY. I’m here for the ride! Go Mavs!
@@Allegro_Giusto I think of that as a big compliment. Something lebron had too. Some games with the highlights it’s monotone like oh lebron being lebron when his stat line was like 29 9 11 or something
@@TatankaDavi I guess so in a way. I just think of MJ when he did crazy stuff and put up crazy numbers, and because of the freak athleticism it gets people off their seat and presenters repeat those highlights, and it was deserved. But because he plays below the rim he just kinda misses that extra edge of hype I think. I’m loving watching Luka exactly because of him not just being another athletic hype like say a Zion or a Morant. He’s just unplayable with his skill. Once total 3 gets polished off, watch out even more. He’s that dominant and unguardable, can he be the first player we’ve seen (that I can remember) without a legit second man, take them to the finals and win it? That’s a huge stretch but it’s definitely on my mind. Even if he takes Warriors to 7 games, it’s unbelievable.
@@Allegro_Giusto I feel like he primarily dominates with his athleticism, not the most skilled but he’s an absolute beast athletically. Not sure why you’d think he’s not athletic lol
I just get so mad watching Ayton who has the hand of god on him athletically refuses to go up strong. throw it down, stop laying up. It's a mentality, go break the rim big fella.
I’m old enough to remember a week ago when Colin moronically compared Luka to Harden (who has come up smaller in more big playoff moments. 1-9 in elimination games since 5/27/15 with horrid numbers, horrid numbers in 5 Game 7s, and the one finals he played he was bad whereas Luka has been one of the best game performers of any player ever from teen to 22 years old, having just turned 23). Luka has much better vision then Harden (who gets assists more like Westbrook where as Luka more like LeBron & Larry Legend) and way more craft game in post and in paint. He’s also much more efficient in playoffs. I’m a big Cowherd fan but some of his NBA takes are horrid and prisoner of the moment (go back and look at what he said about LeBron in 2016 finals down 3-1 in to Warriors on RU-vid, or Ben Simmons being more must see tv when 2018 playoffs started vs LeBron), Kawhi top10 ever (I love Kawhi and agree his peak when healthy 2016-2017-2021 is one of the illest ever), Durant better then Giannas when Giannas been best two way player in NBA since 2019-20 and in 18-19 playoffs that was Kawhi and 2011-12 to 17-18 (arguably 2008-09 to 2010-11 too). Durant is amazing but imo he’s never been the best all around NBA player in NBA. He said Ben Simmons was a more athletic Magic.
@@tybones2222 That, the patented Step Back 3 and him being heliocentric. But that's pretty much where the comparison end. Luka lives for the biggest of games, takes the biggest shots, makes the biggest shots. He's also more willing to get physical than Harden. His bag is WAAAAAY deeper than JH and footwork isn't even close between the two. Luka's work ethic is a country mile ahead of Harden's too.
They double teamed Booker ….yup. But they do the same to Curry in every game! That leaves another player open to cut…which we don’t see the suns doing much,
I disagree. This is the 2nd year in a row I’ve seen Booker and Paul not rise to the occasion and choke. They’re great role players who cannot adapt to the pressure of being the star of this team. Last year we saw Giannis do this. This year we see Luca. Someone needs to step up or they can succeed as role players elsewhere. Nobody is ready to be “The Star” on this team when it matters.
Yes they both choke because in the playoffs, things get a lot more physical and both of them are finesse players who are not physical at all. Let's see: CP0 lacks the length, strength, and endurance to continue his dominance, especially since he is always injured and he lets his emotions get the best of him. You can physically see him agitated and worn out. During the Pelicans series, especially in the last two games, you could just see him panting and filled with anxiety in the fourth quarters. Moving onto DBook, he is a good shooter but when his shots stop falling, he has nothing else in the bag. His also lacks a game inside the paint and he is an average defender at best. Basically DBook becomes another role player when he is shot down offensively. Sad to say, but other Suns teams have been MUCH, MUCH better...think Charles Barkley era and Steve Nash era.
@@numbaz9172 Thank you. Ayton is the softest one of them all. Such a naturally talented player with the confidence of a teenager. I wish he would have grabbed a few big m2n mentors so he could turn into a man, but at this point he will be traded. Time will tell what will happen, but if things remain the same they will get the same results. The Suns are brilliant when things are going their way, but they struggle when things get physical once again.
Eddie Johnson is the most well spoken and deeply analytical commentator in the league with the best sense fo humour for any announcer. Gotta love it when someone is patriotic to the (Suns) Flag but remains super unbiased and loves the game as a whole like you did as a kid. Take note!
As a Mavs fanI missed game one of the Jazz series. Here in Dallas, the local broadcasts of basketball and baseball is a joke. I didn't see any full Mavs games all season. I tuned into game 2 of that series and THE first thing I saw was Kidd's footprint. I love Rick Carlisle and what he did for us, but Jason Kidd has taken this team to a new level. They remind me of that 2011 squad that he quarterbacked. They knew their roles and when I saw them against Utah, it was evident. Last year it was " stand around and et Luka do his thing". This year, they know what to do.
With Luka, you can just put the ball in his hands let him do everything. Imo Tatum is the best young scorer in NBA, but he doesn't have that playmaking ability. Luka can do both at an elite level. Plus, he's only 23. Historically, guys hit their prime from around 26-33. I can see him and Giannis as top 2 guys for a period like Magic, Bird and Kobe, Duncan
In the times we're living in now the younger ones need time to establish their game, get use to playing in the playoffs moreover get established with the hype it's gonna take some time for Luka GREAT PLAYER just can't see him beating the Warriors... Warriors in 6
@@aaronaustin1864 Luka's gonna ball, it's a matter of his teammates showing up. His usage is only comparable to Harden's Houston years with how much they depend on him offensively. He's the only consistent scorer they have. Get him a Middleton or Jaylen Brown and it's game over. As for who his "Magic" will be (though I think he's more of a magic than a bird at heart), it's shaping up to be Tatum.
@@lorenzo3473 curry doesn’t pass? You don’t watch basketball. Curry doesn’t defend? He’s a better one on one defender than Luka is and better with team defense. You do not watch basketball I say for the second time.
GSW going down next! Your going to respect Luka and the Dallas Mavericks before this season is over! And we probably take the Championship this year and yr early! Luka the Don! Mavs Rule!
Sure Dallas has a shot..Luka is confident..However Kevon Looney had 22 rebounds last game. The Warriors are excited, they get better every game because Klay has more time ..Warriors aren't fearful of the Mavs
Ayton it's not a max player let's be honest he was the fourth best player in his draft. Should have never gone number one overall stupidest thing ever. If the Suns want to get better they have to let him go Makiel Bridges who was taken nine pics after him is a better player and more needed for the Suns.
@@ParampamIm not true. Centers who can’t shoot are replaceable cheaply. Not an exact replacement but not worth big money unless you’re Joel, Jokic, etc
It’s weird, when Giannis won the title last year not that much love was given to Budenholzer. When Lebron won his title in LA nobody mention Vogel.. but Luka averaging over 30 in a playoff series is being glossed over and Jason Kidd gotta his recognition.. 🤷🏽♂️
The way Eddie Johnson was comparing Luka to Bird is downright scary. I wont be surprised if GSW gets shook as well, then gets swept. Celtics vs Mavs will be ironic. Boston will get to see another Larry Bird but this time they're against him
Jokic got back to back MVP's and Luka is by far the best player left in the playoffs and Giannis is in the mix too. How does it feel seeing the NBA belong to Balkan players lmao
Mavericks 4-2 as Stephen Curry is not the best 3pt shooter, Larry Bird would torch him and Bird was much more clutch, it's no comparison! Go view the tapes!!!
