It's not like a lot of teams couldn't have easily outbid Dallas in the trade market. OKC biggest need is rebounding and rim protection, and they literally gave the Mavs the pick they used to get Gafford.
@@imdbtruth Haha yeh OKC fans have to be pissed knowing they have way more picks they could have easily got him. As a dallas fan im going to start watching games again if they keep playing like this. Was hard to watch low effort games mid season
Luka's pinpoint accuracy with lobs for dunks from half-court is astounding. Alley-oops used to be done by players farly close together. To recognize and execute from the distance Luka does it from, is pretty phenomenal
I'm so sad right now. I had no idea my idiot Wizards traded Daniel Gaff. What a terrible decision but I am happy for Gaff that he has a chance to play on a good team. Being a Wizards fan means learning to appreciate good players while you have them and supporting them when they leave you for something better. Shout out to Rui on the Lakers too 😞
I feel for you. But since theyre in a rebuild and hes already 25 i get why they'd do it, maybe should have asked for at least another 2nd rounder or 2.
@skillsmachine9164 Every NBA team needs to pay a minimum to their team per year. So if it wasnt Poole someone else would have gotten the bag from the Wizards or they would have traded someone with a similair contract. But Poole is young and they thought he had alot of potential...
Im not sure to call this a super team, but they definitely filled in a lot of needs they were missing and added more vertical threats to make use of luka's passing.
It's not a super team but it's absolutely a fantastic roster construction, it's a winning team no doubt. This looks shockingly similar to the 2011 Mavs roster that got built around Dirk where they finally won a championship. Gafford = Tyson Chandler, PJ Washington = Shawn Marion, Derrick Jones Jr. = Caron Butler ... Just fantastic moves by Nico Harrison and boy teams will be worried to face Mavs in the playoffs if they weren't already
@DoPtRiGGa half a season isn't enough time I think for things to click. Even The dirk team had the guys play for more than a season together to mesh together. I think every recent championship team at least had most of the core players have time to get used to playing together as a team. Mavs made some huge changes to the roster so if I were to be confident in them it would be more likely next year. It's more like good building block for the future instead of a win now vibe.
It has been a while since I've seen a player make everyone else in their team better. Everyone contributes to a degree, but Luka puts it all together. 🔥
Gafford was a huge pickup. Only 25. Elite rim roller & paint defense. Team Friendly, multi-year deal. Different centers fit better in different team systems. The Mavericks need exactly what both of these guys bring. The Luka effect is def going to be in effect with Gafford & PJ. Just by being on the floor with him they'll get crazy lobs and wide open shots. If PJ can be that versatile wing defender they were looking for... the Mavs have a solid 10man playoff roster. Luka - Kyrie - Green - PJ - Gafford with Exum - THJ - DJJ - Kleber - Lively off the bench.
@@unknowntemptation97 idk bro his time will come he still got some work to do on his game but gafford looked extremely dominant and physical but if I'm wrong I'm wrong I like lively he definitely the future though
@@dude202020rdI'm pretty sure gafford will start at power forward and Lively and Maxi will share center minutes and in situations where lively is injured gafford is going to start at center and share minutes with maxi.
@@ZeroDivide-us9xwHow I wish.. I like Brogdon as he can create his own shot, can defend and make plays..I also like Dinwiddie back but he signed with the Lakers..And Yeah Olynyk is actually a good piece in a championship team..Lets see how far this new mavs roster can go
Kyrie and Luka aren't enough and the Mavs finally realized it. Washington and Gafford are STUDS, especially Gafford. Should be interesting to see how this develops.
@@de4ds1ghtcsgo94 Maybe. Maybe he’ll get to league average. But that doesn’t make him a “stud” today. Anyway, good luck to Dallas. I’d like to see you guys in the playoffs. It would be a good series, in my opinion.
Gafford going to feast with Luka being the PG. Went from Poole to Luka 😮 Also now Dallas will have rim protection in the court all game with lively coming back
PJ and Gafford are gelling well. You can tell they are feeding off of each other's energy and effort. I have always liked Daniel Gafford. I am happy for him.
Kylie and Luka are def trading secrets, they are two of the best scorers in the league and nobody is better than Kylie at finishing at the rim and now Luka is learning that sheesh they are going to be the best backcourt ever in nba history watch
That reverse layup from Luka was Kyrie all day. Kyrie is famous for squaring his shoulders up parallel to the baseline during his reverse layups. It looked like Luca just took his time step by step and made that amazing and one.
OKC was just off guard. It happens, new players tend to surprise teams as there's no scouting report on the new players and teams tend to play freely. OKC still are overrated but this is definitely due to lack of scouting report. Once teams get enough scouting report, teams will know what to do. Also FYI teams that has made trades mid season hasn't won a chip in a long time and rarely does. I think Raps was the last one and can't remember before that.
@@thatguy7187 Dallas fans said the same thing last season after getting Kyrie... Luka is overrated. This was just a result of lack of scouting report. Dallas won't make the playoffs and most likely might not even make the playoffs in
Gotta be the best bigs Mavs have had since Tyson Chandler. He was the last guy I remember that could do the dirty work and also was a threat to throw it down.
We all been saying it forever, get us a center that can get rebounds...now we even have 2 amazing big guys, and who wouldve thought, the team looks great
Wow, it sounds like Luka's new superteam is making waves in the NBA! It's always exciting to see fresh dynamics and talents merging to shake up the league. The mention of Daniel Gafford and the Mavericks putting on a dunk clinic adds even more thrill! It must have been quite a spectacle, especially against a team like OKC. These kinds of matchups really bring out the best in players and make for some unforgettable moments in basketball history. I can only imagine the energy in the arena with those high-flying dunks! 🏀✨
Man, can’t believe Dallas got an upgrade. Two or three days ago, I was thinking if they get into the playoffs, they’d be a hard team to beat in a series….but this upgrade…sheesh! Massive upgrades to Max Kleeber and Dwight Powell.
Kleber is really a PF just with the roster construction he always ends up playing C. Really will be nice to let him play his natural position and have a ton of size on the court
The mavs did good at the deadline to address real needs for this team. They went from playoff team to a real contender in the west. Even with an early exit this year, they are set up really good for next. They are Now at least the 3rd best team in the west
Powell is a great team guy though man we all knock on him for being not great, and he's not... but look at him on the bench when Gafford the guy who just walked in and took his minutes gets his first bucket, he's up on his feet cheering, there is something to be said about a guy like that on your roster honestly.
