Hard disagree on your comment about history not remembering the path to a finals win. Not all championships are equal. Coincidentally, Dirk's one ring is often given more praise than KD's wins while at Golden State.
While that might seem old to us (and it is because it’s been more than a decade for the Mavs and over half a decade for KD) they’re recent enough for us to remember and experience them. I remember watching a video that showed that not all paths to the finals are the same. In fact, one of the easiest championship runs was one of the five championships done by the showtime lakers. I think it was even easier than the bubble run, but no one remembers that. We just remember it as one of Magic’s five titles that cemented him as debatably the best point guard of all time.
@@youllneverknowgarcia552that’s a really good point I’ve never thought about that, we always have just had magic as the standard greatest point guard because of his accolades etc, most of us never took into account his path’s to get all those rings and what that era was like

Imagine Dallas torched the Celtics defensively and offensively, Kyrie and Luka had been playing great defense all playoffs and Lively being the centerpiece of that defense, and ain’t no way is Jrue gonna defend Luka and Kyrie at the same time, White is gonna get shut down and exhausted if the Mavs keep making him switch to Kyrie. I see nothing that Dallas couldn’t do against the Celtics except Lively’s consistency due to the injury, Mavs in 6
The Mavs were 13-1 against the West with their new post-trade line-up of Luka, Kyrie, Jones Jr., Gafford, and PJ Washington. Last time I checked, a 93% winning % was better than 77%.
@@western1224@western1224 - The Mavs are 16-1 with this new starting line-up in the regular season, 6-0 against the East, and 12-5 against 3 teams that won 50+ games in the playoffs. I hope the Celtics players think this Mavs team is the same they had the first half of the season.
Luka and Kyrie in fine form could obliterate any teams right now. Chemistry has been proven to work immacutely throughout the last 3 series. Mavs in 6 is my speculation.
I mean yeah, but that was a young brunson and I think Luka thrives more with a lob threat big rather than a shooting big. That's why I think it didn't work
Luka thrives in both. Look at Tobey of Slovenia and Tavares they both shoot threes too. KP just disappear LS when the game matters most, two of the clips series showed every eye that. He can't even back down pat bev man, Pat bev man.@@reddot7886
@@yourfriendlyneighbourhoodvue brunson is cold. Not taking anything away from him. But Ill take kyrie as a 2nd option anytime of the day alongside Luka. Plus, Dallas wasn't even willing to pay him the 100m he s worth. From what I know they prolly only had 50+m for brunson. And that's the business part of the game. it's a win win on both sides imo. Knicks get their star with Jalen and Mavs get their duo with Kyrie and Luka
"had a hard time against Dort" Yeah because Dort was just throwing right hooks and kicks the entire series. There is a slight difference in my eyes between good defense and just straight up fighting the person you are blocking.

55% mavs win chance, goes to 70% if they steal game 1, 60% if they only steal game 2, 90% id they win both, drops to 45% if they lose the 1st two. Itˋs either mavs in 6 or Boston in 7

yeah sure. they almost gave multiple games away to a bad pacers team. boston has looked bad for multiple stretches throughout the playoffs. they havent played anyone as good as the mavs. not saying they cant win but they could easily lose in 5 or 6.

As a Celtics fan, if they win (obviously, I think they will as a fan), it'll be in 6 games, and if they lose, it'll still be in 6 games. To me, this is the most realistic scenario.

The Celtics are the favorites in my mind. They have the best records in both the regular season, as well as the postseason thus far. They have the home court advantage in this final. While it's not the first time during the postseason, the Mavs did not hold the home court advantage , they had an audacious way of making the statement that that so-called advantage is irrelevant. Having stated that, I am not too sure if the Mavs can pull this out once again. If they could, it would've been one of the greatest run in the history of the nba. That narrative seems sexier than the Celtics' expected result, and the media wants this sensational storyline🎉. But let's see what happens.
I hate the fact that everyone praising boston tatum brown, but nobody gives enough credit to their best players that carry them every year. And they are the Refs
Mavs fans will be happy to give a good applause to KP. Not seeing why not. There were never any issues. They traided him, because they wanted to try something different
@Physics_Dude So your only reference is that the celtics have won their previous matchups against the mavs, and you deduce that the celtics won't win more than one game Pretty sound logic
@@benbelleville2006 - I was commenting on your lack of logic. The regular season has nothing to do with the finals. The Mavs are a completely different team. The starting 5 have the best record in the NBA. Mavs have the best defense with this new line-up and also the best 2 players on the court. Mavs in 5.
Its either the mavs squeezing out clutch wins, or celtics blowout lol I don't think Luka can dominate Tatum and Brown the way he did game 5 vs the wolves, but I also don't think Celtics can contain kyrie and luka either. Mavs are gonna have to fight hard, but they're good at that. I'm rooting for the mavs though! Either way its been a great season for them and this matchup is gonna be fun to watch!

IMHO, Mavs having the more challenging path towards the championship might actually be an advantage for them. Compared to beating injury stricken teams. With respect to boston and their players, i think that if they played tougher match it would've shown how much greater they are as a team further solidating them as a better team, and not being in the state where it's 50/50 who will wim between the 2. But, we'll see...
That's just goes to show, west sucks. I was facepalming all series lookin at Gobert tossing the ball and praying it to fail and missing miserably. God that MN series was horrible, made me doubt MN motives

As a Celtics fan for well over a decade. Regrettably I think my Celtics will choke. I pray they don’t but we just don’t have that “DOG” mentality from our Js’. I’ve watched us wilt in so many clutch playoff moments however, My heart says Celtics in 7 but my head says Mavs in 6.

Celtics overrated af, how many years theyve been in finals? Most of the time Tatum Kobe wanna be and Chris Brown didnt show up and choked. This time, they will be having a duel againts clutch guys who been knocking down game winning shots and combine 60+ points per game. Watch your Celtics fold.
@@lapdance2122 Celtics have too many guys they can rely on. If Kyrie or Luka have a single bad game they are cooked. I want Mavs to win but Celtics is so stacked its unfair like 2018 finals.
I really hope the Boston players will be thinking the same way. They have no idea what is in store for them. Game 1 wasn't even close to looking like this Dallas team. Game 2 was soon after the trade, and the two studs, Gafford and Jones, only played 13 minutes off the bench. This current MAVS line-up has a better WL% than the Celtics. Mavs in 5.

Regular seasons stats really don’t matter just off the simple fact the other 29 teams help inflate those stats. Out of the 30 teams only about 10 are truly competitive 😂💯💯.
Bostons defense will lock the Mavs up. All 5 starters are elite defenders. They have the best shot blocker in the league and he happens to be a 6’4” guard. lol.
Celtics sweep. Mavs haven't shown they can stop them. Luka and Kyrie CAN'T stop their offense and their wing pair won't stifle a heated Holliday and a hungry KP. Kyrie will be 0-15 against Boston since leaving the team. It won't even be close.

You know it I'm from Texas Dallas Mavericks Tatum cannot get it done Dallas just baked the number one defense in all of the league and they didn't just beat them they beat the s*** out of them. They could've won game 4.🎉🎉🎉😮😮
The wolves struggle with on ball pressure and the Mavs ranked one in defense in the last 15 games. Gobert and KAT are also liability’s. The Celtics actually match up nicely against the Mavs. Luka is great you can’t take anything away from him, but the Celtics do a lot of match-up hunting. JB is going to be a problem for the Mavs.
That reg season record seems to go out the window. Look at who the Mavs beat to get to the finals and look at their records too during the regular season
5th seed has never won NBA championship all the odds are stacks against the Mavericks, they are against the number one offense, number three defense and number one net rating and 60 win Celtics team. However, if the Mavericks win this, this is one of the biggest choke job in NBA history and its not even close

Maybe not but the Houston Rockets won the championship as the sixth seed in 1995 which is obviously even lower than the fifth seed. They only won 47 games during the regular season yet they swept the number one East seed, Orlando Magic in the finals. Not only that but they won back to back that year, repeating as champions. Lowest seeded team to ever win the championship, if I'm not mistaken.
the problem with what you’re saying is if they had to this starting line up all season then they would’ve been 1st seed. that shit really doesn’t matter after the trade deadline they became a way different team who beat the 1 seed in west, beat the team who beat the nuggets. superstition aside it looks more 50/50
History absolutely remembers the paths to the finals That's why people rave about some runs over others and if Boston won, there could be an asterisk put by it in people's memories, especially if either Luka or Kyrie happen to get injured in the series. Saying people don't remember that stuff is crazy.
If you asked me 3 to 2 months ago, I would have picked Celtics, Nuggets, Timberwolves, Thunder, and even Clippers over the Mavericks. But after rewatching 26 regular season games and watching all of the PO games. Here is I think what will happen. - Boston has very good 1v1 defense, is very good at switching, has very good perimeter D, has decent interior D, below average PnR D, can do Zone effectively but not great at it. - Dallas is also very good at 1v1 defense, good at switching, has very good perimeter D, has excellent interior D, has good PnR D, and excellent at Zone. - Boston likes to spam the 5 man spread (just like the OKC Thunder), someone will drive and kickout to an open man for an easier drive or an open shot, they also good with PnR, they can do post up but not that good and they also rely heavily and are very good on iso. This team's offense basically live and die by the three and they have very good 3 point shooters from 1 to 8. - Dallas offense is actually dynamic, they can do 5 man spreads (only decent on this one), they spam the PnR a looooot (beyond elite), they are great in iso (beyond elite), they can do post ups very well (beyond elite), there is basically no offensive sets they can't do because they have one beyond elite playmaker and another close-to-elite playmaker. - Having said all of that, Boston will try to beat Dallas on the 3 point line and see if an open drive is available. - Dallas will try to PnR/Lob Boston to death, and try to get those easy switches. Also if games are close, Luka and Kyrie has the edge here by a huge mile over Tatum, Brown, and the entire Celtics. - I don't think there is anyone on the Celtics that can stop Luka from getting his usual numbers. Jaylen is their strongest defender in the wing, but if I were the Celtics, I won't be assigning him to Luka all the time. Reason why Ludort was able to guard Luka well, was because he is heavier (he is basically an NFL player) and that is his role. Same for Tatum, Luka will get his numbers against him too. I think Celtics will have a better chance against Kyrie, but if the latter decides to be more of an offball player this series, even he will get his usual numbers too. Celtics will try to prevent those corner threes from becoming open. - Dallas defense will make it hard for Tatum and Brown, and the rest of the Celtics to score inside. They will force the Celtics to try and beat them on threes, they will designate a roamer and leave 1 Celtics (presumably the worst shooter) undefended or half-defended, very risky because Boston has many good shooters but Mavericks will still dare 1 player to beat them. They will force Tatum and Brown to be passers more than inside scorers. I do think that Dallas has a better chance of defending against Boston's threes than the latter's ability to defend against the former's PnR plays. - CONCLUSION: If Luka is 100% healthy, Mavericks in 4-5. I don't trust teams who live and die by the three, I trust more complete offensive teams to win. And Dallas has elite, lengthy, and physically stronger defenders. If Luka is not 100%, toss up but I think Mavericks will still win in 6-7. I just don't trust live and die by the threes teams, and Dallas was feasting against those lineup builds in the latter part of the regular season and against OKC. If Luka's injury is severe, is limping, or Boston averages 50% plus on their threes the entire series, free win to Dallas' opponent.
Let's not forget that Dallas is the most clutch team in the league and Boston is the least clutch. I don't see Boston winning more than one game. Not even hating, but Dallas. Is that good with gafford and lively
