This series is amazing

Luke is one of my favorite authors in the Bible, and much of what you went over is exactly why. I don't think God could have more perfectly chosen an author given just how careful Luke was with his sources. The various parables Luke includes in his gospel are another major reason he's up there when it comes to Biblical authors.

You should interview more scholars ip, would be interesting.

When people deny the early church’s testimony of the authorship of the gospels, they basically are saying that the early church LIED. It’s such an uncharitable and mean accusation without any evidence.

Thank you for this thorough work. I feel trained to doubt everything and have lately felt that this is not reasonable. If a tradition says something and its roots go back to a time close to the events, the burden of proof should be on the other side. Or perhaps it's better to call this a presumption of accuracy that needs to be overcome. In any case, you have done a wonderful job of documenting how, given a couple of centuries, scholars have given ample evidence to show that the traditional teaching was right to begin with.

What is most obvious from the Gospel of Luke is his source for the Annunciation, the Visitation, and the infancy narratives is none other than the Blessed Virgin Herself.

I'm not a scholar, so take this with a grain of salt, but here's my theory on the Synoptic gospels: Matthew was the first to write his gospel in Judea, writing a Hebrew or Aramaic version and a Greek version. When Peter was going to Rome (around 57 AD, after the letter to the Romans but before Paul returned to Judea), he had Mark write a less Jewish, more simple Gospel that would be easier to preach to Gentiles. He then took this with him to Rome. When Paul and Luke came back to Judea, Luke spoke with eyewitnesses, learnt oral traditions, and perhaps read the Gospel of Matthew. Once Paul and Luke came to Rome, Luke wrote his gospel using Mark as a base, supplementing it with extra material he had learnt.

Luke knew and worked with the original disciples. He only tells us what those original disciples told him (Gospel of Luke), or what he himself witnessed (acts). What more do we need? Skeptics are so desperate that they grasp at straws.

Also, what do you think of the fact that many of Matthew's teachings from the Sermon on the Mount are spread across Luke's Gospel instead of concentrated in Luke's Sermon of the Plain? Could the Sermon on the Mount as present on Matthew be a literary construction? Or it literally happened but Luke recorded other ocassions where Jesus said similar sayings to some of the Sermon? Those are a couple of questions I have about Luke's use or a Matthew-like source and the Sermon on the Mount (unless he didn't use Matthew at all and the info came from direct eyewitness interviews?) Luke did not use mark as a source. You cannot demonstrate this as the Greek even is so radically different. We can only show they have difference sources. Luke’s Vorlage/text has non-Septuagintal hebraisms.
