I don't know how it's even possible, but country music can make me kinda nostalgic for a world I've never been and never seen. It calms down and gives a feeling of infinity of time as if our life is not so short at all. It gives me meaning and desire to keep living through this difficult time

I'm English and unlike most people my age (16) I absolutely love country music (old and new). I'm not a fan of the pop/rap/hip hop that's in the charts, I find that I relate so much to country songs. I listen to them and wish that it was the life I had and the life I grew up in. I may not be from the country but I feel that it's who I should be. I feel at home when country music is playing. That's what makes me country (Edit - 13/3/2021): I'm 18 in a few months and still love country music. I hated having a country accent growing up, having a southern family embarrassed me but as I got older I realized how unique and what a blessing it is to be from rural Texas! Many move here to Texas to play dress up and wish they had what we're born into!
I wasnt sure about this newer "pop" country but Luke Bryan did it right here. All music goes through evolution, 60s and 70s dont sound like 80s or 90s. Just like today, the sound is different but the message is the same. I've grown to respect the music for what it says, not what it sounds like.

What makes me country, I might not be as rough, or one to jump into danger or even on a horse without a bit of fear but I love everything about it. I like the river, the woods, the peace, the nature, the animals, the music. My love of country music started in 2015. I had an AM/FM radio in my 2001 Grand Marquis and was surfing through stations. All the stations I normally listened to were playing crappy songs. Even though I couldn’t stand country as a kid, I thought might as well see what’s on 106.1 (Milwaukee’s country station). I started listening to it and before you knew it, it was the only thing I played in my car. Now, obviously I went back to the stuff I listened to before (rap, R&B, rock, pop) but incorporated country into my music library. However, I just moved from Milwaukee to a much smaller city (Wisconsin Dells) and the change from city to small town life has caused me to mostly listen to country again. When I’m driving on the back roads around here, I refuse to listen to any other genre. In addition to the music, I’m also wearing more country style clothes and am thinking about getting into more outdoor activities. The jury is still out, but maybe after almost 30 years of city life, I’m realizing that the country lifestyle just fits me more.

grew up in Wisconsin & moved to AZ at 16. lost my country for a bit, but once i hit age 20 it all came back. now I drive an old 88 yota pickup, quail hunt every season, fish as much as i possibly can. If I'm having a rough day i lock the hubs and throw on my 4x4, drive as far as i can into the mountains and sleep in the bed of my truck. Country is, and forever will be in my blood!

The red in my blood and BFE is what made me country! I remember going mud digging (which we call tush hogging) when I was a teenager and also spotlighting. Whoever was on the passenger's side of truck was holding the gun and I was almost the small one (don't get me wrong I'm 53 now and 5 foot 4 now), but they always had me sitting on the sliding glass window spotlighting outside the truck!
