It drives me nuts that this guy gets virtually no radio play in Canada, there is so much crap day to day played but this pure talent is so overlooked.. how come??
I spent so many years listening to the classic rock stations until I thought the music died. I stumbled on to CBC Radio 2 and like a little breath of fresh air, I found out the music was still very much alive. To Luke, Melissa and so many other artists, Thank-you : )
Thanks so much for posting this. Luke Doucet has become one of my all time favourites. The album "Broken" is a timeless classic to me ; one of those rare works that never gets old no matter how many times we hear it. I have also grown to really appreciate "Blood's too rich". The first track is like rolling thunder - everytime I crank it our young boys stop whatever they're doing, come out into the dining room to dance and crash into things !!!
Saw them in Zoetermeer a couple of years ago. They toured together with Oh Susanna in the Netherlands. Realy liked the whole concert, although the music was totally unknown for me (then!). They signed CDs during the break in the foyer and I even got to talk with Luke about his white guitar, which reminded me of the guitars Stephen Stills and Neil Young played in the Buffalo Springfield and later of course. GREAT MUSIC!
I feel the power of intelligent universe in this track. Wow.! And The golden rules. ""Do to others what you want them to do to you. " Most important thing in the world. Just the facts! You know. I know. Everybody knows. :)
I write songs about my last relationship and my new girlfriend would get so upset. It's about art, music and inspiration. It's about story telling. It's not about jealousy. My new girlfriend was stifling my dream and my creativity. Relationships are about helping each other achieve dreams and happiness, not about keeping love in a box.
I imagine he'd cringe even more at this song now! I'm definitely experiencing secondhand cringe -- it embodies stereotypical young bitter ex-boyfriend song.
