God began his plan of salvation by calling one man (Abraham) to leave his people and become a nation that would bless all nations. Passover was the beginning of Israel’s exodus from Egypt. It became an annual celebration of God’s power to deliver. But God’s plan was always bigger than the deliverance of one nation. In Jesus’ sacrificial death the story of Israel advances to include people from all nations by inaugurating the new covenant, offering forgiveness from sin, and joining in the Lord’s mission until the kingdom of God is fulfilled.
