In recent years, Luke Johnson has quickly climbed through the ranks in NLHE cash games, and in this video, he takes his shot at $5kNL and finds himself putting in the biggest bluff of his career!
Well played. You'll know the feeling of getting caught eventually, you get used to it, then you'll fear it less. I got caught for 9K at the Wynn on NYE with gf present lol! (bare ace repping flush). Gutted at the time but recovered, it builds character. It's interesting that blocking his Kxdd helps you to not run into (KQ/KJ/KT)dd but having the Jd would block (AJ/KJ/QJ/JT)dd and having the Td blocks (AT/KT/QT/JT/T8?)dd so Jd/Td make it less likely to get caught bluffing but you may not have the offsuit Jd/Td in your range with the exception of JJ/TT. Also is this a 2 sizing spot or a shove/check spot? I think I would want to value bet AA/77/AK sometimes here(with a diamond?) for 2/3 so we need to put some nutted hands and bluffs in the small bet range. Assuming that any flush calls so it doesn't matter which flush we block, do you like adding TT with a diamond to the shove range or do we have too much sdv vs 88 and 66 and 9x? Great video, makes me think about allot of things. Thanks for uploading this - Slim
Hi Slim, Thanks for the reply! Although, it was a pity to read about you getting caught in front of your girlfriend. Your sizing comment was spot on. Luke mentioned that he has two sizings, 2/3 and all-in. The value range you assigned seems fairly accurate. We expect TT doesn't turn itself into a bluff as it has too much sdv as you mentioned.
You’re a sicko hell yea. Also, what software are you using in addition to your HUD? It looks like you have some showing the previous action throughout the hand and your pot odds etc. could you share what you use when you play? Thanks man
I think Ace high King high and maybe Q hi flushes, might seem wide but if we only shove the nut flush and never value shove AdAh then they can call the river with hands as weak as AdQx because that would beat everything we shove, so we need to be wider, if we look at his minimum defense frequency range we should jam any hand that beats half of it so that we aren't value owning ourselves.
