Nice progress Brian. That bb is nice. Probably a little cleaning and lube will quiet it down a bit. Can’t go wrong with the old bb. I did that with an old athearn rtr unit. Not bad at all. I was surprised how there is no room in the shell. I had to cut that area out like you did as well.
Thanks Dave! It seems to be running a little better now after it's had a chance to loosen up a bit. Still need to do a lube and good cleaning though. It may become the switcher in my lumber yard...

Sounds like there is one or more split gears on the engine with that repetitious 'thump thump thump' it makes when running. Easy replacement. Just need to get new gears and slide them on the axles and away you go.
