I've watched this beginning to end about 20 times in the last year when it pops up on my feed, this gets me motivated to build cars and race them WFO! man this is awesome lots of strength in the car but by far lots of skill by the driver. If I ever put a show on like you did, man I would be so proud... Good job!
Very good Demo'er and a great build! It was interesting to see you pick a car and just pound on it relentlessly until you kill it. I mean you would pass on sweet hits to go after your target of choice. Your car played a big part but the driver is why you won. You would place the strongest part of your car right into the weakest part of thiers. Good Derby!
Which are outlawed in most derbies. Old Chryslers and mid 70's chevy wagons and caprice are good. Whetever you run if you dont have a SB Chevy in it you might as well not even try.
im not gonna lie the majority of the success in this video seems more to do with the driver knowing where to place his shots rather than the lumina being a beast i mean fair enough it held up quite well but he just knew where to hit and when to hit it.
What year and motor is that lumina??? I want one to drive on the streets!! That car seems very solid and safe and the engine,,it took lots of abuse!! Love the video great job driving
ya I know nothing about derby. jus been doing it for 14 years. I guess I have a different outlook. I've been around derby's my whole life my dad started wen he was 18 n is now 65. I started at 16 but I've been in the stands all my life before that. I use strategy but I also put on a show
reggie lantagne going into my 5th year. You gotta start somewhere. I ran 10 this past summer. All around Ohio and cleaned house in Kentucky. My family ran for years so like you I've been in the stands pretty much my whole life. Idk what you run but around here a W body is king. Maybe it's just the fact of this guy beating a bunch of decent built Vic's. Yeah we're there to put on a show. But going out to trash a car you have good money in is pointless. Unless your winning something like bash for cash, blizzard bash extra:
That's an invention not a lot of people talk about, get a good 2g carb and a universal plate adapter and all you gotta do is cut a hole in the intake and hotwire the rest :)
This is why full size cars go after the compacts/mid sizes that want to run full size. Embarrassment. He was putting on good hits. Someone should have taken one of the tilted fords and drove right up his ass. Good driving with the w body. I'd wear a seat belt if you were ever to roll a lap belt.
I wasn't familier with the luminas but a buddy of mine told me how the manifold is on them it makes sense now that was a nice run I run derbys my self but just 4 cyl classes never have time for big stuff
+Jordan Scheurer we have a 97 lumina with the 3.1 motor. It was my grandpa's car. He used it and babied it for about ten years. Then he gave it to my mom. The car is in great condition and runs fine to this day. The only thing that went majorly wrong was the altinator. Fixed that and the car is like new.
That would be an immediate black flag from me the moment I noticed it. The people in the stands see one person get severely injured, they'll never come back.
Out of curiosity... I know the car is down to bare bones... no AC no radio no lights.... nothing but the engine trans and fans lol... So why 2 optima batteries the red top and yellow top???? Seems like overkill...
I'm a dumb dumb lol... I'm not a demo derby driver... I've helped build a few many years ago... but they were beginner class derby cars... thanks for the response... that makes alot of sense now... I didn't understand it at first lol... we stripped everything to barebones... so more juice made 0 sense to me...
+Caleb Inabinet being a Lumina it would be 1989 at the oldest? we had a 1989 Mazda 323 that had the other style seatbelts? perhaps it could of been a option? seems odd
I know it’s a 1 year old comment, but I don’t want anyone to get misled. V6’s DO have 2 manifold thus would have two headers, that’s why My team only puts headers on our Camry 4’s
Actually those are battery’s ... yellow and red top optima and one for starter other to run accessories linked together to charge both threw the alternator
@@jeffcarlson1025 stand by my statement Optima dosen't consider their products as batteries it's a step above they call them energy cells and the overall performance is way beyond a typical battery and for the most part running an alternator on a derby car is a wishful idea you have to be prepared for the belts to fail from jump street and that's where proper energy comes into play most winning teams don't rely on a alternator at all
I can what this driver is doing wrong. He is not using his indicators for starters, or showing any courtesey to other road users. He is certainly not sticking to his designated lane which will infuriate the other drivers. He will never pass a driving test, so please, someone, help him. Regards from England, January, 2024.
that is NOT a lumina!!! a lumina wouldve been pulverized along with you in .5 seconds against those beasts. absolutely no frame to work with, fiberglass everywhere and yea you get the pic. the engine is worth some cash though:)
Obviously you've never wrecked a Lumina.. These bastards are tough! But this is a pretty tame driver too, he's very selective with his hits. The other cars killed each other and he reaped the benefits
