If I had a small crush on a girl and have the most badass romantic dance with her, I too would be a panicking blob of goo the next day. Amity's crush went from small to head over heels.
@@hithere2972 In Tangled the Series, there was an episode showing how Rapunzel met Cassandra and became friends, and they competed in an event representing their kingdom. One of the events was Ballroom dancing, and they danced with each other. You know, one of the dances being where they raise their right hand and make contact. Im using that as an example for anyone who doubts that two girls dancing together can be platonic.
Uncultured Swine I know, but I’m saying, just because two girls ballroom dance together doesn’t mean it’s romantic, and I named an example where it’s platonic.
The moment the fandom realized, Eda was there in the whole scene. And she could've gotten the letter..... And the fact that she probably knows about Amity's crush.
I just realized the two songs that fit Amity absalutely perfectly is *Little Miss Perfect & Just A Friend To you* *(Edit): Oh and The song "Seasons" By Cadimum*
My reasons to watch this on repeat : 1) the smooth animation 2) the amazing choreography 3) the smooth animation 4) the interesting fight scene 5) THE SMOOTH ANIMATION
Can't get over how Amity stares at Luz seductively and longingly. While Luz is just "wow THIS IS FUN!" except when she whips out the glyphs, that look in her eyes is what made me ship lumity forever
Ah yes, my friends and I totallly dance with each other holding their waist and all romanticallys and close like... but its totally platonic... ya know XD
Okay I've re-watched this in .25 speed rate and I have got to say the fucking details in the dance scene is baffling, When Amity did her split and drew a circle with her heels. The switch between their hands were so smooth that I thought they never release their hands Luz's right hand and Amity's left hand. At 13 secs, they animated the switch of the hands. Holy shit this was above and beyond. Even though the actions from switching hands were less than one second it was in the frame. Also I loved their dance roles keeps alternating from who's leading and who's following, IE masculine role and feminine role.
I know this is an old comment, but since you were talking about switching hands, at about 0:20 the glyphs Luz has switch from her right to left hand. They didn’t animate it switching or anything, they just animated it in Luz’s right hand but then had to change to the left ig so that the viewer could see the glyphs well
@@citrusmoth1103 I see it now. To add to it they didn't switch hand when she placed the Plant Glyph. It was till the right hand even though it was supposed to be in her left hand. 0:21. You take the good with the bad.
Why is no one talking about how careful Luz is when Amity drops from the thing at the very end and catches her? If you watch it with slow speed, Luz braces herself, which from her face probably hurt, Looks up and panics to Catch Amity. When she catches her she carefully supports her until she puts her down. I LOVE THIS SHIP-
When I saw Amity's top letter, I literally said: "I just saw the confirmation of the ship for 0.0000000001 second and if this ship dies then I will blow the entire universe up."
This is the single most amazing cartoon I've seen in years and likely the best scene in the show. This moment between Luz and Amity is truly magical and really helps put into perspective the dynamic of a same sex relationship. Though it's clear Luz doesn't have the same feelings as Amity and dances with her platonically, the dynamic is still masterfully touched upon. A nice touvh is Amity's sudden increasw in magical prowess, as her abominatiom on this scene is far larger than normal, hinting at happiness/love increasing her confidence and magical potency. Another nice touch is the crowns, refrencing the modern term of "queen" which is often used for female characters that are fan favorites in both cartoons and anime, as well as signifying that they are both the Grom Queens together, as one. On top of this, Luz and Amity are adolescents, which helps draw relatability for young viewers of all ages struggling with finding themselves and teaches tolerance of LGBT to others. The scene is short but masterfully crafted and beyond that extremely daring, giving it all the more impact. I'm glad my friend reccomended this show to me. It seems to have flown a bit under the radar, but I really think it's probably the best cartoon since Avatar TLA.
When Amity literally got over her fear and asked Luz to dance with her, she overcame the challenge. When Amity supported Luz, she overcame her fear of her Mama’s disappointment passed the challenge. Both earned the right to be Grom Queens and everyone knew it. Also that they are totally crushing on each other.
Man, I got spoiled that Lumity is a thing before started watching Owl House, but holy shit this entire scene (from the moment Grom took Luz’s form) was still so goddamn fire, I just can’t comprehend how someone watching blindly must have felt
I started watching it because of some promo images from this episode from before it came out. The fandom exploded right after this episode haha, I'm glad to have been along for the ride :)
I seriously cannot get over the animation in this scene. It's so fluid, dramatic, and so damn fun to watch. This is the only show that I've ever seen that I've been able to compare to ATLA animation
I love how Amity was going to ask Luz to prom but couldn’t do it so then Luz found out Amity greatest fear and ask her out instead but as a friend way. But that is what Amity wanted this whole entire time
If anyone's wondering, this scene was animated by Spencer Wan. He directs the show's animation overall, which is part of the reason why the show looks so good compared to most cartoons even in scenes he didn't make
I was so surprised when the ship was actually canon and out there! I expected it to be just shippers thinking too much or it's canon, but in a very very very VERY subtle way.
Contrary to the popular opinion, I don't think that the "that's what friends do" was a bad thing for amity. You know, seeing the gay panic attacks that she had and how she struggled with her feelings, doing this with no pressure surely was easier for her.
