I am a videographer that is moving from canon to the Lumix. Knowing the battery issues from this video, I purchased a dual battery grip and the external power connector. The picture quality is so much better than the canon t8i 4k quality. If this works out, I will get 2 more as 2nd and 3rd shot cameras. I also purchased a rig that allows me to attach my rode mic, 🎤 LED light and LED display monitor. Thanks for the good review.

Great review. Regarding the autofocus. You can dramatically improve it's ability to stay focused by increasing the frame rate. There are other RU-vid videos at cover it in more detail.

I've just bought this camera, used, but like new. I really appreciate your thoroughly exposé on this camera. I love your honesty and your simple, but clear, honest way to expose its possibilities. The negative side, well, I can live with that, since I'm not a persnickety guy for details, but I'm sure it will feel my use of this baby. Thanks for your tests. Keep on sharing, bro!!

I really like this channel and have learned sooooo much. I'm a very green beginner with a digital camera but have reached a point in my life where I now have a bit more time to figure some of this stuff out so when it comes time for my next camera I will have enough knowledge to know what camera will be the best for my future needs. I bought a very basic entry level Panasonic Lumix G85 with just the stock lens 12-60mm Power O. I. S. Lens and felt it was a good place to start with the tiny budget and short list of needs at the time. It has served me well and I'm still not ready to move up to another camera just yet because it still does everything I need it to do and the 4k video was and still is important to me. I have come to really like this little camera even with it's limitations. Ok...so my question is this. I would like to buy wide angle lens without breaking the bank {new or used} and would prefer to find a wide angle with the built in image stabilization to work together with the camera. Not a deal breaker without the built in stabilization but certainly preferred. I knew all these cameras and accessories where expensive but gosh it's just sooooo much money every time I look for this or that. Sorry....don't mean to complain because I realize that's just the way it is so I will just have to deal with it. Anyway...I'm looking for wide angle lens options if anyone is willing to help with some suggestions that would be greatly appreciated. I would like to get as wide angle as possible without the fisheye effect. Oh...and being Canadian means an added burden of exchange rates since most of the best deals are in USD and with our "northern peso" it certainly does not make things any easier...hahaha.
@ocimaging
@ocimaging 2 года назад
I am happy to hear that you are well aware of the G85's limitations and still love it. For wide angle lens Meike has a 12mm manual lens, Rokinon also has a 10mm and a 12mm you can check out too.

Hello, OC. At first, I'd like to thank you for your great videos and reviews. At second, I have one question. My camera is Lumix G85, American model, obviously. I live in Serbia, and I shoot in 50Hz region. In my camera, there are only 24. 30 and 60fps settings, and as I know, no shutter angle setting, which give me serious flickering issue under artificial light. Is there some solution for that? Can I apply Australian or Hong Kong firmware on my camera? Will I get the variety of settings of that region's camera, or will I ruin the camera? Greetings.
@ocimaging
@ocimaging 3 месяца назад
Thanks for the comment. For the flicker I think the only thing that can be done would be to adjust your shutter speed. I really am not aware if those firmware would give you different options that would help with that.

Great video! Many thanks. After watching I have couple of questions, if don't mind: How effective is the G85's IBIS when used with lenses that do not have built-in stabilization? For example I like my Olympus Zuiko 12MM lens but I wonder if it (and other non OIS lenses) will still benefit. Also: I also have MANY great full frame EF L series lenses from my Canon 5D's. You mentioned the adapter (which is a great idea) but I wonder if the G85's IBIS with work with these Canon lenses, some of which DO have built-in stabilization. I was disappointed to hear you mention that the G85 is not great in low light and higher ISO settings. What would you recommend as an alternative that would better in low light but not cost an arm and a leg? Any additional info would be greatly appreciated and I know that others would appreciate this too. Keep up the great work!
@ocimaging
@ocimaging 2 года назад
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. It's funny that I am planning to do an IBIS test comparison of the G85 and the A7III (I have both and I'm no longer selling the G85). So far though the Sony doesn't even come anywhere close to the IBIS on the Lumix system, native lens or not. As for low light, honestly most APSC cameras are better than the G85 in low light and especially full frame. Not sure what to tell you as really only you can make that decision but I hear rumours of Canon releasing a new full frame mirrorless camera under $800, maybe you can wait a bit 🤷🏾‍♂️

@@ocimaging Thank you for your kind reply. I do have a little time to continue researching this since winter is approaching. I will see if I can find some info on the new Canon! The Gh5 also sounds great with it's low light capabilities and IBIS but too much $$$ unless I can find a dsal in a used body. We'll see. Thanks again and keep up the great work!

You need long telephoto, but they are expensive. So, if you are on budget, and you need lens for micro 4/3, then take a look at the lens Panasonic Lumix G Vario 100-300mm F4-5.6 II Power OIS, it should costs around $500 and will do the job.

@ocimaging
@ocimaging 2 года назад
I am very sorry for the late reply. I would recommend it and I also wouldn't. I would because with the right lens you can get remarkable images from this camera, as I have done with my 50mm Canon adapted to it. It will allow you to learn the basics and also manual focus. I wouldn't recommend it because for someone who's new it might seem too tedious and potentially make you give up on it.

The AD200 Pro is a strobe/external flash as you said, so that will need you to purchase a trigger as well. The other two can be attached to your camera. It's always good to have the trigger though because there are points where you have to use off camera flash.
