I do have the same Lumos Kickstart with MIPS for the past few years. Absolutely love it. The weight difference is negligible in my experience. Indeed, it does add an extra level of visibility. The Lumos helmet should not be seen as an alternative to bike lights, however. Use them in combination.

I might add that the helmet is CPSC certified for the US market. I once bought a similar bike helmet from a different company and it was CE certified which is great for the European market but isn't certified for the US market.

I love lumos. I got an Lumos Ultra too. Also in a few days my lumo fireflies that I preloaded will arrive. Check them out if you don't know about them.

I don't understand why Lumos doesn't make a refresh of this helmet with the upgrades from the Ultra. The lack of USB charging makes it a deal breaker for me, and I wish they added a diffuser for the lights similar to what they did on the ultra.

i think the helmet is good for lorry/truck drivers to see you cars not so much
