what is like this? they were unique. people always compare them to VU but it's more like what velvet underground could have evolved into if they didn't self-destruct (that is not a knock on VU, i love them also). You might look for Indian Summer by Luna if you like this song. Sorry you never got to see them, the shows were even better than they look here.
to ed-u-me-cate all y'all...tom verlaine (television founder & guitarist, also plays on the studio version of this song...a wonderful album entitled "penthouse"...fabulous song and album...there's also a great version of "bonnie & clyde" w/dean & stereolab front-woman/genius laetitia sadier...dean wareham is truly a legend of the indie-circuits...his galaxie 500/luna/britta career goes unheralded...but so does much of the great unheard music of our lives...i implore u to all explore the unplayed
I just heard this song on the "alt/underground station". I love it. And they were around since early 90's? Why cant top 40 go away and play music like this and other lesser known bands. Top 40 sucks so bad. Thank you you tube.
for those who doesn't know the title refers to Suicide's concert in Brussels in the 70's that lasted only 23 minutes and turned into the riot and gave a name to their 1978 album "23 minutes over Brussels". Suicide is a NYC electonic protopunk duo. A legend basically...
saw luna for the first time at ferris booth hall (columbia's student union) c. 1995. blew me away. followed the band to many gigs after that, including a summer night in prospect park when they pulled out a cover of 'sweet child of mine' that was for the ages. i miss 'new york's house band', but all things must change. ps: check out 'tell me that you miss me' a documentary film (from which this clip is taken?) about luna's last tour.
The end credits to a wonderful film. Possibly the best music doc ever made - certainly the best film ever made about touring. Just to be a wise a**: I liked the guitar jam better the first time - when it was called Marquee Moon!
Just had a cryptic dream ...wrote down "23 minutes" after I woke up . Came here , among other places . Stones coming up out of the ground, balls of food or pebbles, 23 , that's how many there were (23) and that's what it is '23' , so now , the strange dream has a song for itself. A Discordian dream ?.... or is William S. Burroughs talking to my dream from the other side ? (^8
