This performance wipes me out. It's that good. Awesome vocals by Ryuichi. You can really feel the emotion. Filmed August 9, 1998 at Yokohama Stadium. From the「真夏の野外」"Manatsu no Yagai" DVD
Usually noone pays attention to drummers, but Shinya is really amazing. This song wouldn't feel half as amazing if it wasn't for his drumming. Thumbs up for Shinya.
For sure! They put another 1998 performance of this song on the 'Never Sold Out' CD and it totally muted Shinya's drumming in favor of SUGIZO's solo and after hearing this and other performances of this song on RU-vid, Shinya's drumming is just mesmerizing!! I honestly wasn't the biggest fan of this song when SHINE came out, but I could watch/listen to this all day because of Shinya!
@@mirainoivuyo984 I think it's important to remember drumming is not just about speed. It's also about the sound, the feeling, the tension it creates. Sometimes very minimalistic drumming can actually make a song more powerful than never ending noise. I think, for Luna Sea, Moon is also a good example of a song with amazing drums. 90% of the feeling is created by Shinya.
Totally my favourite Luna Sea song (along with Hurt and G.). I love it so much. The guitar, the bass, the vocals, the drums, aaaaah.... seriously, A MUSICAL ORGASM.
Never appreciated this song until watching 真夏の野外 with this performance. The studio version and even the NSO version does not highlight all members of the band and Mai Yamane the way these live performances do. Even NSO doesn’t sound “right” with Shinya’s drumming drowned out when it’s clearly so powerful here. I honestly can’t stop watching this. It’s near perfect except for RYUICHI flubbing the lyrics. 9.99999/10
IMO the best songs from LS are Another, Ra-Sa-N, Ray, Forever and Ever and Up to You...and Genesis of Mind as opposed to other popular catchy songs. They shone in these songs and showed how wonderful a band they were.
holy **** the live is amazing.Ryuichi is the vocalist I idolize the most (second goes Kyo from Diru :), his vocal talents never seem to stop amazing me *drools like the fanboy he is*. Seeing the live of this song for the first time, damn really how does he have such a powerful vibrato like in this song and Gravity *___*. I hope I can develop my vibrato to last as long as he can.
I didn't know this song until I saw them live recently; it's quickly becoming one of my favorites. Miseichan, thanks So much for uploading, may God bless you... Miseichan様、お疲れ様です。先週初めてライブに行って、あまりそこまでこの曲は知らなかったよ。ただ、もうハマっていて、アップロードしてくれてありがとう!
wow I found this totally radomly, this is great! just wish i knew wht he was saying...Lovesum of this. also 'Luna' is my favorite fictional character and my fav song (smashing pumkins)
So, my girlfriend and I have come to the assumption that the lady who is vocalizing is none other than... Mai Yamane, the singer of the song "Blue" from Cowboy Bebop and the anime series' various other songs. Of course, this is all speculation, but until someone tells me otherwise, I'll just go with this. I wish I had the CD booklet for Shine so I could know.
who the fuck said that this sounds like stairway to heaven? Stairway to heaven has completely different chord progression (and that song is boring btw, seriously) but this luna sea song is a killer tune! Bravo!
@TheWISHANDGUSH ????!!! Dream On has completely different chord progression but plucking and etc is kinda same...but that's just another typical ballad, like this one
I remember buying the vhs tape of this live back in 2004 for $80 just for the live version of this song. Sadly, I was disappointed. Everybody is off except for Shinya & J. Ryuichi is off key throughout most of the entire song. Inoran misses notes on the main riff on almost every chord. And Sugizo missed the first note of his solo.
