Hi Graeme every time I watch a video like this it makes me realise what I’m missing not boat fishing anymore. I did have a few big bass back in the day from near the needles on whole squid baits intended for conger but never sport like that. I hope and I’m sure you do, realise what a lucky man you are having the chance to catch fish like that. Tight Lines

Yes,I do,that's why there are so many cutaway shots in the film which we had to use to cover up the plotter.Next time we will put a bag over it ,as just one commercial boat would wipe out the place in a couple of days if they found it and those fish would be gone forever.I personally have no problem returning Bass ,I prefer eating Plaice or Dabs.Makes me laugh when the "foodies" refer to it as "Sea Bass" ...what's that all about ?? It's has,and always will be,just a European Bass. They use the term "Sea Bass" just to jack up the price of the fish in the restaurant...Anyone else out there hate the new fashion term "Sea Bass " ????

TAFishing . Bass are Bass in this country and always will be to me at least! Foodies! Giving stuff fancy names just to make it sound interesting and jack the price up! Before my wife and I got too ill on her bucket list was a visit to a celebrity chef’s restaurant where I ordered ‘sea bass’ and they ruined it by cooking it in a water bath! Yuk! So overpriced for raw food what a rip off!! I’m glad you are hiding those markdown , because although I can’t fish them I would hate knowing that a two ‘pair trawlers’ had wiped them out! Your right about the humble dab too, absolutely delicious, let’s hope the ‘foodies’ don’t find out as the trawlers would wipe them out as well.

@ Easy Fishing Is that the needles on the isle of wight? I live on the island and fish the needles a fair bit in a kayak, epic is an understatement.

I used to fish for nothing but bass back in the day,loved it, cracking fish that love a good fight, my biggest is 16 lb 7 of Ryde pier on the isle of wight when I decided to not fish for them as a one off and try an catch a little bit of every thing and bang, was a cracking surprise.

I use mono as im broke .. or id be all over the braid stuff.. I used to use Dacron back in the old days lol ... for big shark and other pelagic fishies ... but right now I fishing for what ever eats bread and cheap tackle 😉💙... thanks again for a fun and educational class! ...by the by, the long shows are great ...like real life,.. I still enjoy the hour or more sessions as it is so much fun with you out there... right on captain 🤙 tight lines and you are a great part of this world my friend,

All my youth in my angling club they had me on lug,rag and sand eel, only now am I discovering the glory that is mackerel and squid. By god can those bass take some big baits! Looking forward to finishing this one must get a cup of cha first!.

Small worm baits fished hard on the bottom have resulted in some nice sized Dover Sole. Late evening and through the night on a rising tide seems to produce the best stamp and these balmy nights adds to the enjoyment. Best fish 3lb 4oz.

I think its a joke the average angler cant take a bass anymore and yet these trawlers can take tones....

I think the recreational angler has been "done up like a kipper" I think the old term is. The majority of shore anglers never get to even catch one Bass in a year ,and if they do its a schoolie. Also recreational anglers will often return the Bass anyway. Walk along your local beach and ask the anglers how many 5lb Bass they catch each trip. Most will answer none. That's in my experience anyway.

Not only the trawlers but here in Ireland I believe some foreigners are taking more bass then they should off the shore. Human greed has taken over sadly.

little tip you know the white clip on the cable clips with a nail in them take them off and use them as a rotating swivel,you will need to add an extra hole in the clip over bit but cheap as chips.

Glad you enjoy watching it over there .I wonder if the same techniques work in your ocean for the Striped Bass. The only stripers I have caught were in Lake Powell,either Arizona or Utah,can't remember,but it was in the Rainbow Arch area.

Boiling with mackerel and massive gars down here in Falmouth the last couple of weeks, the last two year's have been phenomenal for bait down here, it's like fish soup of the coast!

Hi Graeme, it's boiling in Falmouth bay between Pendenis and stack point and there seem to be plenty in Carrick roads now. Where you anchored in Mylor is living with them too now, you can consistently catch them along the Trefusis stretch between Mylor and Flushing, tight lines 😊

The reason why Makerel numbers are gone is that their defensive silver underbelly doesn't hide their outline from below, or even above, from the eyesight of Squid. I feel like designing an underwater hunter killer drone that guards breeding grounds from Squid.

Superb fish gentlemen. It must be gutting not being allowed to take even 1 fish for the table when there's a foreign factory ship on the horizon hoovering up everything. I am a huge believer in catch and release and only ever take 1 legal sized fish, but it irks me to be told I can't take a line caught fish in my home countries waters when foreign factory ships and commercial trawlers can take tons of fish sell them to British markets and then I have to pay £20 lb.

It’s the very same here in Ireland we haven’t been aloud net bass since the early 80s and all anglers only aloud 2 bass per day then it went to 1 per day now it’s all bass to be released!! Then we hear a French trawler had to be rescued of rosslare in our waters with 13 tones of bass on board were is the logic in that it breaks my heart !!!

13 tonnes! That's probably more than all the line caught bass by leisure fishermen in the U.K and Ireland over a year. As you say it's heartbreaking :(

Graeme, granted we fish non-tidal fresh water in my area; we use drift-socks to slow our drift? Do you'll ever use anything similar to slow your drift? Our use is mainly for windy conditions on a large expanse. Love Your Videos!!! Picking up Loads of techniques for my travels!!!

I would love to see these pro's randomly fish a new area and see how they get on. I seem to have spent a long time off and on trying to catch a specimin. What really is the best tactic to catch big bass in a river or river mouth. I fish the river deben or river ore mainly.

did he keep moving the boat and putting the anchor out over and over.....I know they were drifting but just seemed odd that he would have his line in the water one moment and then he would be working with the anchor again.....just didnt seem like it was in proper order...but matters not since its your dads fishing talent that make the videos very enjoyable.....more please

No you are right,we had to keep overlaying those pics to cover the plotter screen as a commercial would wipe the whole stock out in short order if they found the spot...I aim to put a plastic bag over it next time we do any filming.

Some really lovely fish, Personally I wouldn't be grabbing the fish in the gills if you are hoping for a good catch and release. Pair of grips wouldn't go a miss. You might not think it but you are really damaging the fish .Great fish and great tactics .

Hello Ta fishing and I've recently just got back into fishing for bass but on the spinning side so my local places is going to be round by Eling tide mill and Weston Shore what could cause a lack of bass around these areas.🎣🎣🎣

I have never heard of those places so cannot comment,but Bass are slow growers and have been hit hard by commercial overfishing.

I’m just starting fishing.. I have been 1 time and I used a cheap £20 rod and reel, caught some bass but I had to let it go. I’m looking for a good rod+reel combo or kit, for under £75 because I want an alright rod to start off with. Any suggestions? I’m looking to do a bit of salt and freshwater fishing.

I know you have done vids similar in the past but how how about a new vid where you have a £150 budget and you go and buy the gear & then test it out? That would be awesome to see 👊

I don't do the tackle flogging bit,so I can't really help as I honestly have no idea what the makes and models are of all the new gear. I never go into a tackle shop,except maybe to buy bait..even then I have to crawl out the door in shock..I don't know what half the terminal rigs do !!

Any advice on purchasing a rod&reel in the region of 100-150 quid? Myself and my brother want to get back on the water to rekindle some of our childhood memories of our dad. We'd be boat fishing and rock fishing. Absolutely love the channel by the way!

Can't help with the tackle I am afraid,all mine is old/dsecondhand stuff. Try a local fishing club first,they might have some secondhand gear to sell.

Shimano but I now use either Fathoms or F/S as those baitcasters are not robust enough.

Its his newer boat "Thresher",previously he had "Taryn",also a 17-foot Wilson Flyer. But he does look after his vessels very well. I think "Thresher" is coming up for a couple years old,but looks like new.
