Lupang Hinirang: The Philippine National Anthem Animation for Independence Day 2012 

Symbolism of the sequences (for those curious): 0:06 - 0:20 - The Philippine flag and its appearances in nature (the setting sun over a clear sky) 0:26 - 0:37 - The arrival of the Malays in the Philippine Islands, the ancestors of the modern Filipinos. The ships that they were in were called "balanghai" or "balangay" and are cognates to the modern Filipino word "barangay," the smallest administrative subdivision of government. 0:40 - 0:46 - The romanticized representation of Inang Bayan (the Motherland) as a young lady. They are in a boat, echoing their ancestors, and are boy is engaged in "kundiman" or a romantic song with her. 0:47 - 0:56 - The Philippine Revolution against the Spanish. 0:57 - 1:08 - The Bataan Death March, which pitted Filipino and American soldiers in a march from Bataan to Capas, Tarlac, after they were defeated by the Japanese in World War II. The Philippines was the last Allied country to have fallen in the Pacific Theater. 1:09 - 1:17 - The foothills of Mayon Volcano, known as the only stratovolcano with an almost perfectly-shaped cone. 1:17 - 1:22 - Family with child. This goes in sync with the last line of the song "ang mamatay nang dahil sa'yo" (literally along the lines of "for it is to die for you"). Either this goes to the child (to die for his/her brighter future), or to the original intention of the song, that is, to gladly die for the country.

We have declared independence from the Spaniards, Americans and even the Japanese. Now it's time to declare independence from our own greedy selves, from the widespread indifference of our country's future and from the belief that we cannot go beyond our present, decrepit situation. We have a long way to go but I believe we're on our path to the future we dream for our children. Happy Independence Day, my dear Filipinas! :)

Yan ang totoong Pilipinas. Isang bansang agrikultural. Pagyamanin muli ang agrikultura. Wag nating ipilit na industriyang bansa tayo. Hayaan niyo na yun sa mga karatig nating bansa. Maging iyong "Ang kislap ng watawat mo'y tagumpay na nagniningning..." but the scene shows the defeat we had during the Japanese regime (death march). Taz, para sa akin, masyadong makaluma na po ito, as in sooooooo past. Parang hindi pa po tayo nakaka-move on sa mga wars, tragedies, hardships ng manual work, atbp. Since ginawa na itong "modernized", sana pati mga images na nakikita rito ay tugma sa modernong panahong ginagalawan natin pero tugma pa rin sa lyrics ng Lupang Hinirang.

I'm sorry if I tell you my personal opinion regarding this video. Our National Anthem is one of the best anthems in the world, and the animation, although it's 2D, is impressive. Pero iyong sequence ng mga eksena, para sa akin, hindi logical. Halimbawa iyong sa night on the lake scene. Sana tumugma iyon sa "May dilag ang tula at awit sa paglayang minamahal," kaso nai-timing siya sa "Lupang hinirang, duyan ka ng magiting..."

This was wonderful. For me..it would be used in my classroom in the morning. But alas..I am not a country women, only moving there in a few month. The richness of the colors, the strength of the visual. Strong people, proud people... Be blessed.

If I was president, I would make the anthem bilingual, just like the anthem of South Africa Tagalog, Cebuano, Moro, Ilokano, Chavacano, Ifugaonon, Waray, etc I would replace some words from the original anthem with a certain translation

one word: HISTORY. As for the maritime part, I would agree that more exposure would be good. Still, the trail was actually telling a story how we acquired the independence. It started with Lapu-Lapu then moved on to Rizal (if I'm not mistaken), then the katipunan who fought against the Spaniards, the death march, the Japanese occupation (bakit wala ang Fil-American war? hmm)..and it ended with our INDEPENDENCE. Now, If you want to fast forward the history, we can respin the anthem three times :)

Mas gusto ko ang version na 'to kasi walang mukha ng mga naging pangulo ng Pilipinas, ang pinapakita ay ang tunay na pinagdaanan ng Pilipinas from 1521 up to present. At ang ipinapakita ay ang tunay na bayani, hindi mga pulitikong nagpipilit maging bayani. hahahaha

Mas maganda itong version na ito kesa sa mga nauna na ang pinakahighlight ay ang mga past presidents ng pilipinas, tsaka ipinapakita dito ang mga nagawa ng mga tunay na bayani, hindi tulad ng mga pulitikong nagpipilit na maging bayani. Happy 114th Independence Day! Long Live Democracy!

Some people think that Filipinos has already lost all of the men that have the fighting spirit to literally die for God and the entire Philippines. But NO some still have the spirit like me and very few of my classmates at the age of 12 (current age) are still wiling. so don't go thinking we already suck at fighting.

Two thumbs up po dito. Pero mas maganda siguro kung more of the modernized Pinas ang meron sa latter part ng video. Dont erase the past pero emphasize more of what we are now. Masaya siguro para dynamic. Opinion.

Clearly you miss the point why the creator made it this way. Open your eyes, I mean your mind to the symbolism found on this creation. Do not focus on the literal things.

0:50 was the reason why our Independence Day was changed from July 4th to June 12th to honor and remember these men who fought and die for our freedom against tyranny.

I do not think they walk in defeat..they walk in victory. Tired from the struggle but knowing...the fought the good battle. The future is shown by the family holding the baby, the next generation. I thought it was excellent.
