This issue in rap about who the Goat is, is corny to me. There always has to be a number one. To me different rap Artists do different things. Nas is a great storyteller, Scarface is a great story teller, Eminem is great at lyricism, Tech9ne is a great all around Artist who makes a variety of music, lyrical, high energy, emotional, Busta Rhymes is similar, Lupe is great at triple entredres, lyrically layered content, Currensy is the Vibe King, a one man playlist, Lil Wayne is the eccentric lyricist, Kendrick the poetic lyricist, JCole the Everyman, I could go on and on but each artist enchances the genre and I can't say one is the better than them all Let's appreciate our Artists but everyone has their favorites.

Felt like a totally different person, one was soft spoken and polite, almost lawyerly. The man here is confident and smooth, but in a street way, a little more violent and harsh sounding in the tone of his voice. But they're both polished. Tetsuo & Youth became one of my fave albums next to The Cool. I was always interested in the album art - now almost 8 years later I find out he painted it. Brazy
@MysticMayne
@MysticMayne 2 года назад
I think its better than The Cool, T&Y doesn’t have filler. He talked about the painting in a DJ Skee interview when the album dropped in 2015, if i’m not mistaken the painting used for the T&Y cover is called The Man Eating Tiger.
@koolkai4299
@koolkai4299 2 года назад
@@MysticMayne Tetsuo & Youth is a more "cohesive" album with lighter sounding production, but The Cool is the more "accessible" album with a lot of replay value Hip Hop Saved My Life, Superstar, Dumb it Down, Streets on Fire, Little Weapon, The Coolest, darker sounding production. The Cool is to Drogas Wave as Food & Liquor is to Tetsuo & Youth.
@MysticMayne
@MysticMayne 2 года назад
@@koolkai4299 Lighter production?!?! Mural, Blur My Hands, Body of Work, Chopper, Prisoner, Madonna, No Scratches, T.R.O.N don’t have light production and thats over half the tracklist. The Cool is only somewhat accessible due to it being a single driven album, Atlantic could’ve tried to push more singles honestly, i find it funny one of the best tracks on the The Cool was a bonus track called Blackout if you bought it at Circuit City and it definitely wasn’t a single. What about The Cool also having filler whilst T&Y doesn’t. Anyway, i hope you’re not saying The Cool is better because it was more accessible, as if that equates to quality. All eyes were him at the time but its unfortunate because 2014-15 Lu can easily rap circles around his 2006-07 self. Tetsuo & Youth and Food & Liquor are his best in my opinion though, to each his own i guess.

I just listened to Drill Music in Zion and it’s just filled with meanings but sonically the album is ON THE NEEDLE, PINPOINT. It’s amazingly produced and nothing overdoes itself. Lyrically there’s way to much for me to put my finger on what exactly the theme and main ongoing meaning is currently. I can say I’m really enjoying the album though and it just may be with the purchase for those who still buy albums like me.

I feel like the theme in Drill Music in Zion is very similar to Tetsuo & Youth. The duality of life. Finding the good in the bad, finding balance. Seeing that there is a Mural song on T&Y, Drogas Wave and now DMIZ, this is like and unofficial trilogy of albums that blend well together

I don't know much about the guest but I will pay respect to any artist that demonstrates their art and integrity are more important than the money or fame that they might have been on offer. And especially the ones that did it for the long haul. See Robert Plant, Jonathan Richman, Billy Holliday (Strange Fruit) or Nina Simone. All those people are way cooler than the Rolling Stones just because they aren't sell outs. Compare Lupe Fiasco to Jay-Z, I wonder who has a more fulfilling life? When the guest got interested in painting he came at it from a place of respect and humility, apprenticing with more accomplished painters, apparently learning how knowledgeable people approach the art form. That is a serious person. Take it from the man.

Love Lupe, but I just wanted to say: I do agree that HipHop shouldn’t be the poster child for violence in America, nor should violence be unique to HipHop, as it is an unfortunate aspect of the human condition. But, there is something to be said about the amount of murders occurring among rappers though. And that is unique to HipHop. Just as Black Metal (certain aspects of it) can’t take responsibility for the cause of racism, it should at the very least take accountability for the racism within it.
