That is one awesome craw....glad you touched on the subject of people copying others...because I'm a new lure painter, and I've written down alot of lure patterns (from multiple people) and yes I've written down quite a few of your patterns... but I've noticed that mine looks nothing like the originals, (just don't look the same)... plus I always thought that if others copy your idea the you are on the right path... glad you brought up the subject... keep up the great content
Very nice look. I luv my color shift paints. And you’re right. Only so many schemes that can be painted. It’s the little details that each of us apply to our baits that make them unique to us
Thanks for the honesty and insight on lure painting Frank. To me it's all about the fun and accomplishment of creating something cool looking. Thanks!!! to guys and gals like you that have RU-vid amount I've only been at it about 6 months, but I've already painted over 100 baits for friends that have seen my work without even trying. Thanks!!! again Frank for a great channel, keep up the good work it's much appreciated.
I don’t copy, I ain’t that good, but! When pattering after natural forage there will be lookalikes! But going full Picasso, I can see that as a copying issue, which to me should be a form of flattery! Folks are thinned skinned. I almost always lean towards natural forage patterns, yes colors change, but the overall lines are of forage patterns. I like you craws paint scheme, you are very talented! Most times I’m watching someone paint a lure, not for a painting lesson but a lesson in what is needed, how they use the tools around them, paint and what they use and more importantly what’s on their bench that can help me! Most times what is not said, is what I need!
Nice Video! I have been looking at getting a few color shift paints and have been talking myself out of it. Looks like its time to start playing with it!
@@customlurepainter I am very surprised at how good I am at this… I have never considered myself “artsy” but some of mine turn out really cool! I’m also really glad that you spoke on copying because being so new to this I am learning from all of you guys and have been worried about potential blowback when I use some of you and others techniques and it shows on the lures I will be using. I am selling lures with custom messages and logos, etc. but keeping the patterns simple and was worried what people would say
Great looking paint scheme. And i whole heartedly agree there are only so many patterns you can paint. I try to be original but sometimes following someone else's painting do something different to make it your own.
Thanks!!!! to guys and gals like you that have RU-vid channels I've been able to learn an unbelievable amount of knowledge on painting baits. Sorry it messed up this sentence when it posted???
AS Always .... This Look SWEET !! and for those who WHINE & CRY about Copying .... GET OFF YOU TUBE and watch your own videos by yourself 🤪!! Thee Endd QUESTION ??? will the UVLS shoot thru .30 needle ?? or do you have to go larger / or add reducer ?? Inquiring minds want to know ... 🧐 side Note I purchased from Amazon these Iridescent paints that are pretty nice ( cept the Red Is more on the pinkish side ) ABEIER Iridescent Acrylic Paint, Set of 18 Chameleon Colors, 2 oz/60ml Bottles, Color-shifting, the purple flash looks similar to this yours...
I love your work it's amazing. I have a question on billed baits and clear coat. I used to dip in kbs bit recently switched to 2 part epoxy sold by Lure Build. It looks awesome on lipless and swimbaits but I have either bubbles or stripes on bills sometimes both. Is there something I'm doing wrong or a trick to it. I can do dip on them but really like the look of this epoxy. Thanks and keep putting out great videos
Thank you , I put epoxy in warm water for 15 minutes before I use, then I brush on and use a small butane torch and go around lure to eliminate bubbles.
@Clarks Hill Custom Lures I do that on the body it works. It's the lips on Crankbaits I have trouble with. I tried torch on bills and it pops bubbles but doesn't seem to help on lines. I'll try warm water and see if it works. Thanks a lot
I'm from Brazil and I follow your paintings on artificial baits, you work very well. I wonder if you can tell me where you buy these beautiful eyes for the lures and stencils used for the painting? Thank you and congratulations for the great work. Sorry, I'm using Google Translate to write this message.
I was wondering about how much of the eye candy do you put in the hvls?? Get me in the ball park and I’ll figure it out from there..!! Thanks so much!!
Clark I’ve decided Im going to start painting my own lures. What airbrush pump and gun do you recommend? Any info helps! Im basically clueless to this.
My name is Frank, Clark’s Hill is the name of the Lake by me lol You could start with really any airbrush set to start to see if your going to like it. Masters has some affordable kits to start.
@@customlurepainter lol my bad! I’ve looked at the masters kits and thats probably the direction I’ll go, I can always upgrade. I love your videos. Im an avid kayak fisherman and 90% of the time I’m targeting bass. Can’t wait for this season to kick off!
