The song was originally by Dionne Warwick (in the audience 0:30 ) back in 1963, but she says as soon as she heard Luther's version of the song, she knew it wasn't hers anymore.
Wow, his voice. The crowd can't even keep silent, they're spontaneously hooting and hollering through the whole thing. Not every performer can cause that kind of reaction. He's got so much soul, he's pouring his heart into it. Wow wow, wow. Is there anyone today that even comes close to having a voice that rich and soulful?
The LORD Broke the mold when he made Luther! The most amazing talent listening in the audience included a very ypund Janet Jackson blown away!! Speachless!!😭💜👍
I saw Luther Vandross live in concert before he died. Best concert I’ve ever been to ever! He sang for 2 hours without missing one note. Luther was the greatest of all time - the GOAT! Concert of a lifetime.
I am so happy you reacted to one of his live versions. He was a master in making you feel each word he sang. He will forever live in us older folks hearts. Enjoy grandma's music...it's your gift to her.💓
Wow. His voice is so beautiful and soulful. I know I've heard his name lots of times, but I'm not sure I ever really listened to him before. Not even sure of the best way to describe the emotion I feel listening.
He seemed to sing so effortlessly. His voice was one of the most beautiful I've ever heard. Went to his concert and could hardly stay in my seat. He was mesmerizing!
Luther just captivates the meaning of love and wording it in a way you will feel it inside, I tell you, I'm 63, I still cry and feel like it's the first time I hear it. Then it's his voice. Like satin, like nothing I ever could compare him to. I love your reactions, I think you're a sentimental young man and sincere in your reactions. Thank you for being you!!! Enjoy this "time travel" it's a spectacular ride....
Gosh this opened the flood gates of tears. I love Luther from the 80s he was their singing of my joy of love to my pain I felt in a marriage and the end of it in 2001. Him and Elvis are my two top male singers.nobody touches them .nobody.
OH WOW I'M SOOO GLAD U DISCOVERED HIM... one of the legends gone😣😭😭... rest easy Luther... dance with my father again is another AMAZING song of his... LOOK UP AARON NEVEVILLE...
Saw Luther back in the late 80's as a teen. Went to his concert as a family event with parents, my sister, and an aunt. The emotions I felt were indescribable. Our whole family was in tears. His voice was mezmerizing. To think that someone could sound even better live on stage than in studio recording...it was just amazing. It was the whole package-live musicians playing on stage and everything. Of course, back then, that was the norm anyway.
LUTHER!!! The most beautiful person, singer, soul, this earth has ever experienced!! No one, no one...can you hear me??? No one can top, not then, not now. I'm going to go melt now into his voice. RIP LUTHER💜💜💜💜💜
YOUNG MAN YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!! ONLY ONE LIKE LUTHER IN A LIFETIME!!!!!!DAUGHTER & SONS, YOU ONLY GET ONE!!!! ONE LUTHER IN A LIFETIME!!!!!!!!!!TRUTH.
At the age of 69 this is still my go to Album during those Intimate Moments. Love me some Luther. Brother passed way to young, but left Humanity Treasures for the Ages. Keep it going Bro and much Love to Grandma🥰, rayray ✊✌️
Love Luther! I was 8 months pregnant in 1993 and he was performing in Memphis. My OB wouldn’t let me drive to see him and I’ve regretted not going all these years. Now that he’s gone, I think about that all the time. 💙
Hi julie .. saw this lovely man in concert in wembley arena u.k. back in the 90s ... miss that man , miss that voice .. was a memory will never forget 💕from u.k.
@Julie Ford, I was eight months pregnant also in 1993 when I saw him at Madison Square Garden. I camped out all night to get tickets and it was well worth it. The concert was amazing. I’ve seen him every single time he has ever performed in New York❤️
Young man, Ive got tears in my heart, getting choked up watching you hear luther van dross sing. It does my heart good to see the young generation appreciate the music I grew up with. Im 65, and Im still loving his music!
There’s some singers that just transcend everything with their voice! Mr Vandross is the ULTIMATE CROONER! Just close your eyes and feel everything he’s singing completely. You’ve felt or feel what he’s singing. Thank you Sir for the emotional journey through life! No one I’d rather hear expressing life’s ups and downs. Thank you!
Yes, my first time watching this many years ago left me unable to find words to express just how amazing it was, but simply to say it is the greatest male vocal live performance I have heard or seen is sufficient. I've lost count how many times I've watched it but it never grows old. What a talent. Thank you Luther ❤👏
I'm 58 years old. I've seen him in concert before. His songs are amazing. He's passed away now. He had issues with his weight. So sad he's gone. One of a kind.
Luther Vandross is one of the greatest singer of all time. His singing speak for it's self. There is another one I would like you to play is a beautiful lady Phyllis Hyman singing You Know How to Love Me. Thank you. Thumb up to you.
I've been asking many people who do reactions on here lately to please react to Luther. It's hard to find them. It's like many forgot about him or don't know of him in regards to the people who do reactions to musicians on here
That was Mr. Luther Vandross. You cannot duplicate that. He had a gift from the Lord. I am so glad we are able to listen and appreciate it. RIP Luther Vandross.
When you can make The Great Dionne Warwick smile and cry in the same same song, you are special. Luther’s voice is/was so complex. He would tease his notes, and then release them so perfectly. Special special talent.
Just watched this reaction. I felt your tears.. Because Luther was an icon. I saw him live .. TWICE ... He was amazing . Please react to more of his songs !
Did you know that David Bowie discovered and kicked off Luther’s musical career? David hired Luther as a backup singer on the Young Americans album. There is an incredible track you must see that displays both their talents. Luther has said it was the hardest session because of the structure David had in his own head, but the end result is nothing short of obsession with the song. It’s called “Right”. Find it! I promise you will not be disappointed! 💫⚡️🔥
There is almost no one that Luther Vandross did not sing background for . He also did a lot of arranging of the background vocals . He was a master at it. And if you ever went to his live concerts, the background singers were part of the show period they were so choreographed every move they made was part of the show every note they sang had a bodily movement that went with it period his shows were so glamorous, because the background singers were acting like such divas, it was almost done in cheek. So good. he actually had too early albums before his well-known first album period one under the name Luther, and "This Close to You. Both had some very good tracks.
Every time I see this performance it gives me chills. Luther was a hell of a talent. Massively talented. I’m talking HUGE talent. There is NO modern day equivalent
Dionne Warwick did House is not a Home in "64?? And shes very impressed by Luther's singing...You're right about his voice...there is no one better than LUTHER !!!!!!!!!!!!!
You should see him live at Wembley Stadium! He gives an amazing performance! I saw him on Valentine's Day at Radio City Music Hall, center section about 50' from the stage! He delivered a riveting performance from beginning to end!
I felt that Luther was singing the song to Dionne Warwick and from her reaction i think there was mutual love ❤️and respect there. An absolutely amazing live performance, Luther was a vocal maestro and no one can match his vocal skills and ability. He was truly amazing❣️
Luther Vandross is one of the greatest performers to ever perform and there will never be another Luther he is an icon and we were blessed to be around to enjoy his music and see his live performance on TV. Those moments can never be Live Again by this generation. My generation was definitely blessed to be apart of Luther Vandross Legacy.
I know you are only about 24 or 25 years old and haven't seen it all..............but, dude, I'm an old 76 year old white man, and I totally agree with you that it is possibly the best performance by anyone........EVER! OMG!
Great reaction‼️. Luther has brought me to tears for decades. I am so grateful that young you tubers like yourself are being introduced to great artists for the first time and can appreciate those ultimate artists that sang and shaped our lives. ✌️🦋👏👏👏
So good. I love your reaction. I remember watching this when it aired. Such good memories. He shut that audience down... Blessed that I got to see him perform LIVE a couple of times. Nothing in the world like it🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼💕💕💕My entire family loved Luther Vandross! The 80s were everything and the music, talent and artists were unmatched💕💕🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 #RIP Mr Vandross..
I have a long list of singers I love but Luther is on a list all by himself...no one as far as I'm concerned can come close...his vocals are AMAZING!!!! I saw him in concert 3 times and believe this or not...he sounded even better in person!! I cried when he died...RIH LUTHER
