So agree I have 6:50 on repeat right now as we speak. I go back to a Lil girl. I just turned 42 in May. To when I had his 45" and my daddy was a known gospel singer. He bought this album and said I can sing better than Luther. Tbh he almost did. But I will always have my dads voice singing as this song plays. Sorry I told a life story lol 😂😥😥
@@kirbyosborne7348No hate, it’s the truth👏👏👏 This so called music is pretty much Destroying the mind of the elegance of Love, Destructive to the heart and soul❤
This is one of the most beautiful songs in the history of music. I started listening to this man in 1983 at the age of 10. I am 50 now, and this is still the most beautiful sound I have ever heard. ❤
The whole arrangement is beyond amazing….i just close my eyes and can hear so clear! One of my aunts favorite song…. Good music never goes out of style
I’m 51 and when I first heard this around 83 I was in the backseat of my moms car coming from the mall and it was the first song that ever touched me deep in my soul
@johnnykirk2099 Same here. Only difference is it was 1983 that I put the pieces together! Realizing Luther's voice was the voice from two of my favorite songs I would hear during my summers in Jersey -- Searching & the Glow of Love! So his debut album Never Too Much just stole my heart after that. My Dad would play the album every morning when he woke up until he made it out the door for work. This lasted for several months. It was my Dad's theme album and Never Too Much became my song!
46yr and it still hit hard that now my 4mo old love this song it calms him down puts him to sleep. Every day my 4mo old hast to listen to big Luther. He also love Lil Luther
Amen brother sending prayers to your grandmother mine hasn't been in great place either all we can do is cherish the last moments with them let them no you love them and do all you can brother keep your head up cause age and death comes for us no matter what treat everyday like its your last cause well yeah you no the rest my brother godbless and keep ya head up my guy
I’ll never forget when my husband and I had front row seats for a Luther concert at the Fox theater in Detroit. One of the most memorable moments of my life.😢. They’re both gone but Not forgotten. Sing with the angels!❤️
At work driving to this song went through a marriage betrayal this song hit different now slowly getting my feet under me the world don’t know how many of us men shed so so so many tears
I'm so sorry to hear this. Especially when women like myself long to have deep connection with a man who's loving, kind, compassionate, empathetic, patient, understanding and faithful. I know all to well about the betrayal. Give yourself time to heal, be patient with you. God bless you!
I was a senior in high school when he released this. This was a huge hit. The high school dances, sitting by the radio so that I can record it on my cassette player. A Quiet Storm classic. I'm 56 and this song still touches my soul as it did in 1984. Luther Vandross, a master vocalist. He is greatly missed.
Chills.......fucking CHILLS. To this very day.....32 years after it's release.......Luther's rendition of "Superstar" STILL pushes my emotional buttons. The song is simply a work of art......created by one of the greatest male vocalists of our generation. I do NOT have the words to properly express how much I truly admire & miss the talent of Luther Vandross, and the impact he has had on the lives of my wife & myself. Love you, Luther.
So yesterday I was watching Family Feud with a black family and a white family. The question was “name an artist who’s music a lot of babies were probably made to.” Ok, the black family said “Usher and R. Kelly” needless to say neither of those answers were there (even though you could make an argument for R); the white family said “Barry White, Teddy Pendergrass, Luther Vandross & Marvin Gaye”! Now the crime here is neither Luther nor Teddy were on the board!!! Whaaaat…..with songs like this if someone or something doesn’t come to mind you really need to reinvest in your love life…
@@williethomas5116 ⁉⁉NO, he couldn't "out sing" them!! Such a stupid, worthless comparison. Luther was MAGNIFICENT. SO was Marvin and Karen and Whitney and Judy Garland and on and on and on. There is no dumb ass "competition" to be made of them.
@@greeneyedwarlock882 someone got trigger please go away. There is no problem with comparison. Get psychological help. Yes they sang the same song and YES Luther did sing it better. Don't like it, you don't have to.
Eve though they don't make songs like that now a days, they definitely don't sing with a passion like that either. Glad I had the chance to hear so many classic songs. Be Blessed Everyone.
Wow omg,,, where has the time gone??? This man rt here oh god, why does the greatest always fall??? I can remember listening to foxy107 foxy104 and waiting for this song oh my god ,,, this is real music!!!!! FACTZ
@ Craig Bailey….. you speak nothing but the truth! Luther was one of a kind…. never to be touched by another artist. His music has saved me on numerous occasions and now that I’m divorcing it has even more significance for some reason. Take care.
Luther never got the proper credit for his arrangement abilities. He blended the Carpenter's and Stevie's songs and made them all his own in one. This song is not only one the most beautiful songs ever made, but it was BRILLIANTLY arranged. PURE PERFECTION !!! R.I.P. indeed KING.
God I dedicate this to you for giving your only begotten Son Jesus to us! I DECLARE YOU KING OF KINGS & LORD OF LORDS! Please have mercy on us your selfish creations! Especially the Afro-American youth that's caught up in genocide🙏🏽
And thank you, Jesus, for simultaneously lifting the devilish vail of DECEPTION laid on humanity in these last days of LUCI's FAILING ATTEMPTS at dominion over YOUR creation, guiding us, to follow YOUR footsteps TO FREENESS, and eternal life. Amen.
Elite voices to be sure, but for elite and quintessentially unique, check out Karen Carpenter's version of this same song. Her voice and delivery, practically otherworldly.
@@johnboehmer6683 far be it from me to ever say this but Luther IMABHO actually does sing it slightly better. But could you imagine them both singing it?!
@@williethomas9953 I'll say this much, I like the arrangement and tempo of Luther's version better... I can't imagine the song working as a duet by any 2 singers though. It's a song about heartbreak and rejection, you know? Both are extraordinarily talented, but the song just fits Karen Carpenter like a glove. Her voice, and melancholy delivery is just made for songs like this, and dare I say even her persona? Luther's version in the end has a more beautiful feel to it, Karen exudes the pain the song conveys sharper (though the arrangement of her version's chorus throws that off with the almost happy sounding brass section). Which version did you first? Oftentimes this determines which one we prefer...
When my wife and me split up, this song got us back together . That was a good few years , till we totally threw in the towel , but Luther was there for us ❤
This will FOREVER be.. There will NEVER and I do mean NEVER be another Luther with a voice like this!! I can’t stop listening to this music 🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️❤️
I typed in Luther Vandross, as I do, this came up 1st & I clicked instantly! Now I'm @ work crying & I'm not heartbroken @ all right now! Luther, I dearly miss your voice, the emotion it evokes is unmatched!
I use to wait til late at night to record this from the radio station onto my cassette player ,Luther has been my favorite of all times he's smooth ,timeless and just amazing .

Honors to the one and only Stevie Wonder for writing "Until you come back to me" and the writers of Superstar! Luther rearranged the two songs masterfully!
Play it easy. Play it easy. Keep it right there. It's alright it's alright. Ooohhh baby. I wonder I wonder where are you at tonight. Are you holding someone else real tight. I wonder I wonder I wonder. 🤔
My mom used to play this song on repeat when I was kid. I always remember the very first minute of the song and how it was the most absolutely perfect intro he could have made for this song... This can never be duplicated...
I can only add a little more to what has already been written. Pure talent, beautiful lyrics and memorable music for generations to come. Love to you Luther always ❤

Arrived in California to visit my mother. She told me Grandmother had passed away. I felt a little sad but felt she no longer suffered, said my blessings and prepared for her funeral. That same day, I was told Luther just died. I cried, and still cry at times. God made him to sing--a messenger-now-angel.
I'm so glad that I saw luther live in south Africa I took my niece to that festival 2years down the line she passed away.. May their souls rest in peace
This music is so timeless ❤ We'll always miss this unique voice. Not much is said about the composers & producers, why is this world so afraid of giving credit to musicians?
This was my grandmother's favorite song to listen to and especially when she was depressed. I didn't fully understand as a child the struggle of depression......but I do now and it has become my go to song as well.
My Mommy had this album and played the ish out of it , she soo loved LV …I was 4/ 5 at the time and I was such in aww of this man’s voice. It became one of my favorite songs by him. Oh how I wish I could turn back the hands of time. I’m telling y’all If you have ANYONE that you love PLEASE assure them . R.I.P Mom & Luther .🖐🏽😘
I used to be sad, but now it’s alright, it's alright.....I wonder where are you again tonight, are you holding someone else real tight...Classic Luther!
2024/9024 this song will be here!! Rip Luther thanks for all your beautiful music well done sweetie enjoy your beautiful beautiful home in heaven ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏
I admire the transition of this song especially when breaking up with someone, thinking that you need them then after awhile you realize you’re better off without them and it will be alright. Like a happy ever after feeling 😊
This song is a TRUE LOVE STORY. I'm 51 years old and I'm just realizing that this song is so deep... Luther is singing about his Love; a guitar player. OMG!! In most of his songs he refers to a "woman", etc. but this song he NEVER refers to "superstar" as woman only "my baby". He says that he fell in love before the second show; and "your" guitar, it sounds so sweet and clear". I wanna be anywhere you are!!! Wow. Absolutely brilliant writing. Luther was in LOVE and was sad he lost his baby. I miss Luther so much!!! I wish he could have lived his truth and loved whomever openly. Don't you remember you told me you loved me baby You said you'd be coming back this way again baby Baby, baby, baby, baby, oh, baby, I love you, I really do Long ago and oh so far away I fell in love with you before the second show And your guitar, it sounds so sweet and clear But you're not really here It's just the radio Don't you remember you told me you loved me baby You said you'd be coming back this way again baby Baby, baby, baby, baby, oh, baby, I love you, I really do You look for me, but you'd be gone you want my love but you're on the road Don't you remember me anymore? Loneliness is a such a sad affair, sad affair And I can hardly wait to be with you again And what to say, to say, to make you come again, oh honey Come back to me again I wanna be, I wanna be anywhere you are
