This approach was used at my home by Xavier and at a neighbouring development - the results have been astounding. the approach covered in the video will be invaluable in helping clients prepare and communicate their needs to the designer and ensure a 'common language' which will greatly help the process deliver what the client wants. Ive been that client three times now and know this is going to be a massive boost to the consult/review/design/implement. It will also be highly valuable for other trades not previously familar with these capabilities. Brillaint work Xavier.
🙏🏾🙏🏾 Thanks for your kind words. I hope to be able to talk about RA3 asap. Not yet available in the UK where I’m based. But will try to come up with something soon 😉
Hi , good information...can you show how is the best way for Label the wire in the panel? I start work in Homework moduel in 3 panel, i want to do it right.😁
Good question and probably the most important part of a successful Lutron install. Labels in lutron panels are “fixed” let’s say and generating the wiring report from the lutron software will solve that. What you want is to assign a reference number for each lighting circuits so it also show in that wiring report. The best way is to use exactly the same reference used by the electrician - you all want to speak the same language! Hope this helps. Check out some of my first videos about “load schedules” and “lighting floor plan” were I cover those subjects. Good luck 😉
Question. Why use inline dimmers instead of the standard wall dimmers? I think the inline is more of a lifetime issue where as the wall plates can be upgraded in the future. Sorry if this was a dumb question.
This is not a dumb question! I fully understand why you ask for it. 1- I’m based in the UK 🇬🇧 and so far we ONLY have « in-line » modules. 2- I guess the fact you have access to wall dimmers offer you extra flexibility & options - specially when doing retrofit. 3- I understand the future upgrade situation or even the maintenance, but it’s seems to me that using wireless pico control or any wireless control for that matter it’s here to stay. Also if you job has been designed properly with proper records of where your inline modules are installed, it shouldn’t be too much of an issue to replace. Anyway this is only my point of view. Hope this helps ✌🏾
@@adelux I asked the same question. I can't figure out the value/practical reason of the inline dimmers. @adelux Lighting Control - Are you saying that in the UK you do NOT have Wall mounted light dimmers?
Correct! In the UK we don’t have wall dimmers in the RA2 select range. I guess the value here is to get the neutral wired to the dimmer as we don’t often find it at the switch location traditionally. Hope this clarifies. Many Thanks Xavier
Great video, I'm still trying to wonder why use dimmer module? What is the value? Is it merely so the electrician does not have to run a line down the wall to an outlet (ie hardwire option)?
Hi Xavier and I know this is late to the table but congratulations on very professional and easily watchable useful content - Thank you. Quick question about design of my first system... Electricians are keen to wire in line dimmers and switch modules to central location, rather than in ceiling etc. I know there not designed for this layout but will this work fine or do you envisage any problems? It will be near, easy maintenance in future, no signal issues and they have to run new cables anyway. Lutron forum users seem to suggest not a good idea but don't state why and official documentation does not seem to disapprove? Any help or info you can give world be gratefully received - Thank you.
Hi, thanks for your feedback and kind words. Very good point. There’re other wireless lighting control system that you don’t want to have centralised and close to one an other. But Lutron wireless communication allows you to do that. It is not written anywhere but lots of lutron dealers like myself done it successfully. I really like this centralised solution, especially for future access to the modules etc…lots of Lutron professionals are posting pictures of their Lutron RA2 select centralised install on social media. Hope this helps. Good luck with your project !
Wow, thanks for the prompt info which is really helpful and hopefully other "newbs" will find useful :) Looking forward to starting first project next week and will watch your videos with interest.
Thanks for your comment and kind words. The quick answer is that yes your system will still work even if your internet is down. The app won’t work but you will still be able to operate your lights and blinds using your Picos.
Thanks for your comment. Sorry, not sure I understand the question? The in line dimmer is already ...a dimmer? If is this about pre wire for traditional normal switch, I would call that “past” proof rather than “future” proofing the install. At the end of the day, my recommendation regardless of the system used, is to install it as it should be. Explain your concerns to your local Lutron dealer they should be able to guide you correctly. Thanks
@@adelux sorry should have explained better cancel out the switching part, I meant can you use dimmable in line modules on non dimmable lights, e.g the led strip so if in future you wanted to change to dimmable strips?
Thanks for comment. Not sure I understand the question. If your spotlights are part of the same circuit and if they are dimmable then you will need one in line dimmer. Hope this helps
Can i control alena QS D105 motors in this thing's? HQP6-1 has been installed at the my project but a little confusion is that can we integrate it from RA2 ?
Thanks for reaching out! I’d love to give you a precise answer but honestly I’m not too sure I understand the question. You have Alena QS on Lutron HomeWorks QS project and doesn’t work? Please could you clarify? Thanks
Adelux Lighting Control & Motorised Blinds no i have alena QS with homeworks qs system but i need to integrate these with lutron wireless RA2 system so it can be possible , in current situation only motorised curtains are controlled but i need to add lighting automation also like RA2 system. So it can be possible to integrate those alena curtains and wireless RA2 lighting systems. Just need answer in yes or no if yes so why?
