Thanks for posting more Lutterloh content Carole. The top does look great on you! Not something for a complete beginner sewer because you have to think ahead for example with the facings. What I like about the Lutterloh system is that you can mix and match the pieces - variation on a theme. Also if your measurements change you can easily redraft the pattern pieces accordingly 👍
Thanks for your comment. I agree Amanda, if your size changes or you need to make for someone else it's an easy alteration. I will admit I only attempt the designs that are similar to what I have made before with published patterns. That way I have instructions I could refer to if stuck. Have a great weekend 🧵😊
I’m sooo impressed. You did a fantastic job Carole.Im a confident and enthusiastic beginner.I plan to buy one of the kits. Sewing is all about geometry and putting a puzzle together.lol Thank you for sharing!
Thank you Brenda! You summed me up exactly, an enthusiastic beginner. When I see some of the things people make with this system I am in awe! Good luck with yours 🧵😊
I have sewn most of my life but I find the lutterloh system difficult to navigate and have had trouble with the fit. You are the first person I have see. Using it. I do ideas from the drawings to draft my own versions from blocks.
Thanks for your comment Nancy. They say you only need two measurements to get the perfect fit yet a lot of people seem to need alterations on their patterns so I really don’t know. You sound like you are incredibly talented to create your patterns from the designs, that is awesome! 🧵😊
Hi Carole, your top is beautiful. I was fascinated watching you draw it out, it does look like it’s a great system. But as you say you have to have a good deal of sewing under your belt before you tackle the system. Great job, your a clever girl. 😊 🧵🪡🇦🇺
Thanks Letitia! I'm not really clever if you see some of the garments that other Lutterloh sewists make! I stick to the simple stuff but I do have fun doing it. Thanks so much for watching 😊🧵
Thanks Trish! I'm not a champ I just choose the easy things 🤣. I do love a jersey blouse though, why have I never made one of these before?! On our way home today 🥲. It's been a fun but a full on exhausting week 😂. Hope all is well 'down at Pinky's Farm' 🐷🐐🐔🫏 xxx❤️
Carole! I LOVE the Lutterloh top!!! It fit you beautifully!! And I like the fabric, too!! My sewing is on hold as I’m very busy with working outside. planting flowers! I love flowers!!!! Enjoyed the top make, especially using Lutterloh!!!!
Thanks Kathleen. This is the time of year I struggle with sewing, when the weather is beautiful I just want to be outside pottering too! When it gets really nice I often move my machine outside 🤣. Happy gardening! 😊🧵
@@socarole66 sewing outside does sound lovely; however, I live on a working farm and I have way too many flies and bugs in general! But, my little sewing She Shed is almost like being outside! 😆
Love , Love, Love it Carole. I made it in a woven and l added just a little around my upper hip but it works as well. I too love the Lutterloh system.l had mine since the eighties. Carole you did an awesome job 👏❤. Thank You for sharing 😊
Thanks so much for your comment Tina and I love hearing from people that do Lutterloh! It's interesting that you made that top from a woven, it was odd that it was for a knit but it worked well. Happy Sewing and well done for using the system for so long! 🧵😊
Thanks for posting this Carole. Your top looks fabulous 👌 i thought the fit looked great on you, as do those colours, very flattering with your hair and skin tone. I saw another vlogger using the Lutterloh system yesterday. Such a good system and I am setting myself a Lutterloh sewing goal once I get more confident. 😊
Thank you so much for the compliments. I was so pleased with the outcome of this little top. There are some great Lutterloh vloggers on RU-vid, I love it when another one pops up! I did a wonderful collab with Kris from Sewnotes last year doing Lutterloh. Thanks for watching 🧵😊
You certainly have patience doing the drawing of the pattern. The top was lovely and a great fit. Think I might have been lazy and not made button holes if I could get it over my head 🤦♀️😂
Thanks Sandra, I mostly decided to do the buttons as I said to myself when I got the Juki I wasn't going to shy away from them anymore. It does buttonholes so well! Thanks for watching 🧵😊
Hi Carole, great job on that beautiful top, it looks like a perfect fit. You are getting so good at this system, can’t wait to see what’s next, maybe a jacket? That would be a great skill builder! Take care
Thanks Sue. On my list next I think is shorts, I did make some jeans last year? They were very successful in the end after some alteration. Not sure I will attempt a jacket as I never wear them (that's my excuse 🤣). The jeans were hard for me as no zip instructions, that really did make me think! Hope you have a great weekend and thanks for your support 🧵😊
@@socarole66 , oh that’s right! I forgot that you don’t wear jackets. Shorts are good, too. I have never been able to figure out how to draft patterns past pockets and facings, so it just amazes me that you can draw a few lines and have a pattern that fits you! You’re amazing.
Hi Carole. The top is fabulous and thanks for doing another Lutterloh. As you might recall I ordered a new Lutterloh but it arrived damaged, was returned but they had no more in stock so my money was refunded. It seems that it’s been rather popular recently so wasn’t easy to find a replacement. However I’ve found one on Etsy which is actually from 1974 (and apart from the outer box being a bit torn, it seems to be unused), and while I’m away at the moment, the seller has very kindly agreed to hold it for me. I’m looking forward to getting this when I return home. 😊
Hi Ann, I still think that was awful about your Lutterloh set. There has been a few postal issues judging by the Facebook group. However I think you will now have exactly the same one as I have! I hope you got it for a good price. To be honest, all you need is the precious measuring tape then you can buy the supplements. Keep me updated when you receive it ! Thanks for watching 🧵😊
@@socarole66 I suppose that because my order was via Create and Craft and the system was shipped from America, that once they’d sold out that was it, and there was nothing spare. It’s just one of those things. Yes I agree it’s the measuring tape which is the main item but I’ve just bought some lovely fabric which is very much 70’s style so there’s bound to be something I fancy making from the original patterns. I will be getting some of the supplements too. Yes it’s a really good price probably the best I’ve seen from shopping around 👏🏻😃
Very nice top! Well done!!! The color of the buttons you used (from what I can tell) blend in with the fabric print very well. I find the Lutterloh system intriguing, but don't think I'd ever buy it. I need sewing instructions. Will live vicariously through you and enjoy your successes with it. xx 🥰 BTW: Thanks for posting a vlog while you are on your birthday holiday with your daughter and grands. Hope you are having a wonderful time and that the weather is warm and sunny.
Hi Dori, thanks so much for stopping by. Lutterloh is definitely not for everyone and I don’t think I would have tried it if it wasn’t my Mothers kit. They are fun to do though! Katie and I are still on our hols and having a wonderful time in the sun, lots of pool fun and games! Hope all is going well with you and the packing 💕xx
Your top looks gorgeous Carole and is a great variation of the usual t-shirt top. I really enjoy watching your Lutterloh videos and they would certainly help to develop our sewing skills. I look forward to seeing your next Lutterloh project.❤
Thanks Trudy. What it does for me is help me work out what I know and don’t know! So far I stick to the easy designs but then that is my Lifestyle anyway. Thanks so much for watching and being kind 🧵😊
Thanks so much Karen, I also appreciate your feedback on the buttons and may keep them on there for a while. It's a fun system to play with. Have a good week 🧵😊
Your top came out wonderful. Nothing is better than a custom garment made to fit just you. It is totally worth all the effort it takes. Quite a few years ago I took a class by Connie Crawford (she designed patterns for Butterick) I have never had a pair of pants that fit as well. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
Hi Carol, that sounds like a fantastic experience you had! I am very envious as I haven’t ever done any sewing classes except for my dreadful school ones. Thanks so much for your kind comment on my top and yes, it does feel very satisfying making it from scratch. Have a good weekend 🧵😊
Thank you Pamela! I did really enjoy making this one and didn’t come across many problems this time. I will try and do them more frequently. Thanks for watching 🧵😊
The top is lovely and the white buttons are great with the white jeans…I love seeing your Lutterloh pattern making.,you do a great job explaining….Thank you. Your mother must be pleased that you are using the system..
Thank you Pamela, my Mother did make some lovely things in the beginning she just can’t remember what! Yes, she is very glad it is being used after many years in a cupboard. Thanks so much for watching 🧵😊
Hi Carole! That top came out amazing! You are very talented, to be able to get that from measuring and drawing! 🥰Thank you for sharing such a different (to me anyway) technique! 💗💗💗
Thanks Mary! I am really not talented, just maybe I have a lot of patience 🤣. I do feel like a real dressmaker though when I am drawing it out. My Mum made me a coat out of the system when I was little 😱. Thanks for watching ❤️🧵☀️
It must be even more satisfying to make a lutteloh pattern because of the process Carole. I think it's a very wearable piece and thanks for sharing your lutteloh experiences.
You are right Annette. You do feel like you have really achieved something from a little puzzle! I do love this top as it is different to a T shirt or plain jersey top. Thanks for watching and your comment. 🧵😊
Thanks so much Sheila. Do you have the Lutterloh system? If so you can buy past supplements like I did for this one. If not I really do think one could adapt say NL 6217 and split it down the front adding button plackets. I may give that a try as well! Thanks for watching 🧵😊
Thanks Lara, I love the fact that is smart yet a jersey top! It really is a fun thing to do and makes me feel like a proper seamstress 🤣. Hope you are having a great weekend 🧵😊
Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. I invested in the system in the early 1980’s and hope to dive into the adventure in the near future.
Thanks for watching! I hope my video helps a little. Try something easy for your first project. There is a wonderful Facebook group for Lutterloh with some amazing talented sewists on there for any of your queries. 🧵😊
I really like the tee shirt and I think the colours look lovely on you. I have the Lutterloh system I got it earlier in my sewing journey ( I shouldn’t have done that) I must get it out and have a go, we will see. 😊
Carol, I didn’t know you had Lutterloh as well? The trouble is there are no instructions for any of the designs and that is what puts people off I choose designs I have an idea of how to make up, I’m not good enough to tackle the complicated ones just yet! Good luck when you get around to them. Thanks for watching 🧵😊
I just love when you post a Lutterloh video. It's so fun to see you draw it out and hear your thought process as you go. You have such a good mind for solving a math puzzle. I love all your content but I especially love these. Oh, and your new top is beautiful. Thanks!
Thank you so much Diane! I am never sure how my Lutterloh videos will be received but I get so many lovely comments when I do post one, I should do more. They are just like puzzles you are right and I learn so much about my own sewing knowledge every time I do one. Thanks for watching and your feedback 🧵😊
Hi Carole. I was really excited when I bought my Lutterloh system for Christmas. But I've quickly become frustrated with interpreting some of their visuals. No clue what they are trying to tell me. Your videos are invaluable for me as you show how you work it out. The system of drawing the garment patterns is fantastic, but I think it's time for Lutterloh to add more instruction details. Don't you? I like the top on you a lot. Thanks and please continue making these videos.
Thanks so much for your comment Rita. I will admit the only video I have watched was one from Sewveryeasy channel which was very good. I was handed the old kit by my Mother who really couldn’t remember at all how to use it. As you can tell by my earlier videos I really was working it out as I went along 🤣. I thought the new kits came with DVDs or something? My version only has scant instructions. However there is a wonderful Facebook group that has so many experts on there, there is always someone available to help. I will keep up the videos and glad they help 🧵😊
Really cute t-shirt! I think the buttons look great - they provide contrast. I’m thinking about buying this system but I’m concerned about the lack of sewing instructions.
Thank you so much Susan, I have to say this blouse has become a real favourite of mine. I understand your nervousness of zero instructions with Lutterloh however I try and stick to designs that are fairly simple or I have made similar ones before from the main pattern companies. You can then if you get stuck refer to their instructions. Sometimes it frees you up to just make it up as you see fit. There is a wonderful Lutterloh Facebook group with lots of experts on there who help out anyone that's stuck! Let me know what you decide 😊🧵
Had leftover stretch cotton sateen fabric that I’d made a sheath dress from and made this top. Still have the top, not the dress. I’ve experimented with the upper bust measurement and FBA (G cup), but ultimately get a better fit just using the full bust measurement…but I have very broad shoulders. Lutterloh is great “bang for your buck”.
Thanks so much for your comment. I was so interested to hear you made the top in a stretch sateen, that would have had a very different look to mine. I bet it looks super and smart! That's also interesting to hear that instead of an FBA using the bust measurements worked well. 🧵😊
Your top is really cute, Carole! I recently bought the Sure Fit Designs dress and top system. It has similar features as your system, but works better with my brain. Watching you and Joy Bernhart work with the two systems is fascinating. Thank you!
Thank you Lynn, I have watched Joy many times with that system and she really is an advocate for it. I loved this top as it is a causal blouse, right up my street. Hope you have a good weekend 🧵😊
Thanks Izzy, I really like the fact it is a blouse yet comfy like a T shirt! That's always a win for me and I will definitely make another. Hope all is well with you and have a great weekend. Sun is still shining over here in Mallorca 😁☀️🕶️ xxx
I think that looks lovely, and I love the fabric, I’ve been interested of the lutterloh, it’s the cost outlay if I don’t like it, 😬so what I did was find a printable of there ruler which seamed to print ok and laminated it, stuck it to one of my tapes, then found a pattern to print, I’m going to try that first and then if it works out buy one of the supplements, everything else I have so 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Well I've never heard of that but if it works that sounds a great cost saver! They do come up quite often on EBay I am led to believe. I wish you luck and have fun with it, I love drawing out the patterns. Good luck and keep me updated! 😊🧵
Great video. I’m not interested in doing Lutteroh but I watched your entire process anyway. What is it about watching others make something that is so fun? Do I need to get more of a life or what? 😂 The top is adorable.
Oh believe me I have watched a few crafts on RU-vid with no intention of ever doing them 🤣. You just kind of get swallowed up into don’t you and I’m honoured you stuck with my video, thank you! 🧵😊
Thank you so much Linda. I have searched for a big 4 pattern that is similar and I just can’t find one that isn’t in a woven, that is what really attracted me to it. However, I can only search online though as I am away at the moment but will look through my patterns when I get home. Thanks for watching 🧵😊
Great job, Carole! The top came out really nice! I’ve thought about trying the Lutterloh system. If you had not been gifted it, do you think you would purchase it? 🤗
That is a great question Nancy. In all honesty I probably wouldn’t because most of the time bought patterns fit me fairly well. If I had a lot of fitting issues then it is certainly something I would certainly try. Thanks so much for watching and your kind comment 🧵😊
What an interesting pattern system. Where did you get all of your sewing rulers, especially the ones to add a seam allowance? The top is lovely and unique.
Hi there, thanks for your comment and watching. The rulers I bought from a seller in the US on Etsy, Stitchbuzz. They weren't cheap but I've just checked and they are on sale at the moment. Hope that helps 🧵😊
I think your top looks great. I also really like the fabric of the top you are wearing and wondering if you know where you purchased it from or the maker.
Thank you so much. The top I am wearing in the video was a mix of two fabrics and I'm really sorry I cannot remember where I bought it from as it was years ago. It was a bit of viscose jersey and to be honest isn't great quality. The top plain bit of blue was some bamboo jersey from Minerva but again, years ago. 😊🧵
I'm so grateful for this! I've had the Lutterloh set for a while but hadn't yet worked up the courage to try it. So being able to see it used in anger 😅 is a real bonus and has sparked my enthusiasm to give it a try. Can I just ask - did you stick the pin in your cutting mat - I'm a bit nervous about my dining table so I've got some cardboard but wondered if the cutting mat will withstand the pin?
Thanks for watching. As Lutterloh have said, you can use a bit of cardboard or I have even used the back of a place mat before that is corked backed. My dining room table saver is so old it works really well. It has a kind of leather finish one side and thick felt on the other. No chance of breaking through! Have fun with your system and stick to the simple things like I do! 🧵😊
I think this is very pretty. I love things that feel like Ts but are not! How do you know which sections of your curve tools to use to span between dots? -Kelly
Thanks for your comment Kelly. That really is a question about those curved rulers and my answer is it is pure guesswork 😅. There is I'm sure the proper way to use them but for Lutterloh you need to join at least 3 dots together to get the right shape so I keep moving the curve until I do. 🧵😊
It is funny, it appears to be difficult but actually it is just plotting numbers on paper which is good fun if you like puzzles. Notice how I do the easy ones though 🤣. Thanks for watching 🧵😊
