I am Swedish. I don’t mind, it’s charming 😊 but I can learn you how to pronounce the name of IKEA-products and tell you what it means. For example Bestå, the å is a kind of o, like oh, or in thought, or more, in this case a looooong o. Bestååå means consist, continue to exist, like the song in Titanic, my heart will go on, a verb. And Ridspö means riding stick. Even though a desk usually is named with Scandinavian boys name. Other things have the name after a lake, a city in Sweden, islands in Denmark or just crazy things, which we in Sweden have difficulties to understand as well. It had been said that the founder of IK-ea, Ingvar Kamprad had a problem to remember numbers, thats why they have name at all. A world trend from 1948 😊
I live in Paraguay and have never been in an IKEA! I am told it’s an experience so, next week when I travel to the states, I will make sure and visit one😊

Such good quality for everything, even flipping the pancakes or crepes style pancakes we make here. 🙂

Hi Valentina, we bought the desk. Its glass is meant to be used to draw 'to do' lists on. We stuck a piece of white paper in the drawer so that you don't see the contents of the drawer and now my daughter writes with glass markers on it.
Actually it's 'or' but as a British English person would pronounce that, if that makes sense. With less emphasis on the 'r' than American English. Search for Å pronunciation video by Say It In Swedish for the proper pronunciation. Edit: Americans it's pronounced like the sound in court (cOUrt).
So IKEA fell into the Halloween trap too. Too bad! Surprised to see Valentina buying seasonal items like that (prints, pictures) when she mentioned in an earlier video that she is not into that. It's great to see though what's new. Unfortunately i have noticed already before that IKEA in the US has items in stock we dont have yet. :( Not sure why the company makes such a difference.

A specialist I used to go to had a desk with the open section on the top that he kept his different sized needles for injections in…..lol…..not sure why anyone at home would wan that but thought I’d add that …..

Hi V, did you see the Lime,Basil & Mandarin black glass candle? When I last went to IKEA in the Spring they didn’t have it & they also didn’t have a space for it either so I assume they’ve stopped making it. Gutted as it was my fave 😢 x

Yeah, I actually keep telling Jack that we need to move it because it's an optic illusion on camera. It is purposely off center to account for the tree, and the height is correct but on camera it looks weirdly low. Isn't it so funny how there's decor for living and then decor for the camera?
I am so frustrated with the fact that IKEA is Swidish i.e. Europe based company, but for some reson we do not see at IKEA 50 % of furniture which is being avialble in USA and Canada 😤 some pieces of sections, beds, coaches, are never - ever seen at our shops 😢 or they are - but in much worse quality materials…. (Claiming they are eco-friendly) WHY ???
There's such a wide range of options but you are so right that it is much more limited and I think they cater it to the area where the store is located, so ours was super focused on college/dorm and kids' rooms, but in Denmark and Sweden they were always family homes. Very interesting, right?
I agree! I think I also have a knack for finding the most expensive (I'm so sorry! It's a gift... hahahaha not really!) But seriously, I thought $2400 for a sectional was kind of expensive compared to what you would get at West Elm. I think you just have to shop around but it's always fun to see what they have!
I agree. We were shocked last week when we saw some of the furniture prices. A sofa was $1300! My sofa from Lazy Boy was $1200 and much better quality. Glad we bought bookcases, tables and dressers right before Covid. We’d be paying 30-40% more now. We walked out without buying a thing…..that was a first . I’m also not looking for any more ‘cute’ decor.
ehhh well it might just be me! I pronounce all the names with a Danish accent... and then half the time I just make it up because I don't want to annoy you guys trying to pronounce things over and over! hahahaha. I always feel the need to apologize to my Swedish viewers. It must be so cringy!
