I WILL BE 84 IN NOVEMBER...BUT REMEMBER AS A KID TUNING INTO LUX RADIO THEATER EVERY MONDAY NIGHT AT 7 PM...BACK IN KANSAS CITY....SO THESE SHOW ARE A REAL TREAT...HOWEVER I AM TALKING 1947 ON...SO GLAD TO FIND GREAT ONES LIKE THIS ONE DONE WHEN I WAS A BABY....MY MOM WAS A COLBERT FAN SO REMEMBER SEEING ALL HER FILMS FROM "THE EGG AND I" ON......COLBERT LIVED UNTIL SHE WAS 93 I BELIEVE....BY THE WAY...EARLY ON IN THE SIXTIES I WORKED FOR ABC TV IN HOLLYWOOD AND OUR TICKET OFFICE WAS NEXT DOOR TO THE HUNTINGTON HARTFORD THEATER ON VINE STREET WHERE THESE SHOWS HAD BEEN BROADCAST IN THE FORTIES........STRANGE HOW SMALL THE WORLD IS..... GREAT MEMORIES....
I do love to close my eyes,and listen,and just only imagine,the characters, environments and the atmosphere...it's sooo therapeutic for me!!! 💯💯💯💯💯💞💞👍🏻
And in between those 2 installments, there was In the Good Old Summertime with Judy Garland and Van Johnson. There was also a musical stage play called She Loves Me. The "shop" was different in each of these 4 incarnations of the story, selling luggage and leather goods, musical instruments and sheet music, perfumes, and books.
Wow 78yrs ago!! Just imagine going to Liberia now!!! Maybe one of the most violent countries in the world but that's another story!! Another great story from Lux, it's a shame they don't do these types of shows anymore esp here in the UK.
I always love watching the older movies, and Claudette was one of my all time favorite actresses. I am enjoying listening to these radio programs, and I also enjoy listening to the commercials and that’s really saying a lot😁. Films produced in the 50’s lost my interest. Many things in that time frame started to erode our lifestyles, at a loss for a better word.
