Thank you for mentioning the language myth. I also have no motivation to learn French, but I want to continue to improve my German, and I am very interested in learning Luxembourgish. I am planning to apply for a post-doc research position next year at the University of Luxembourg, and I will definitely be following your channel over the next 6 - 12 months. Also, the issue with traveling between Luxembourg and Germany is completely the fault of the Deutsch Bahn (DB), which has turned into a catastrophe and a source of national humiliation here in Germany. It is not the fault of Luxembourg's transportation at all. The Deutsch Bahn is so bad that Switzerland has started prohibiting many high-speed ICE trains from Germany because of the disruption to the Swiss national railway system. It is actually that bad. Visitors coming here from Luxembourg or Switzerland are continually shocked by the Deutsch Bahn disaster. This is one of the reasons I am proactively trying to relocate from Germany to Luxembourg. Thanks again for your videos, Magda!

I think you're comparing pears with apples when comparing Luxembourg with southern Italy or Spain. These are supposed to be the less industrialized and poorest areas of two relatively large nations, while Luxembourg is a microstate and probably you also have in mind the capital. You should compare Luxembourg city with Madrid for example. And also regarding the rainy days, one should check the statistics, otherwise you may have been just unlucky to get a lot of rain in two areas in which it doesn't usually rain a lot
@ByMagdaYT
@ByMagdaYT 9 месяцев назад
Hello, I just made a video with statistics where I comapre Lic to Italy on historical data from 20 or 30 years, you can check it out also I make comparisons based on my experience where I lived (nad it happened to be south of Spain and South of Italy) which I also highlight a lot in my videos 😌
@marcoac-sx6lq
@marcoac-sx6lq 9 месяцев назад
@ByMagdaYT the Wikipedia page on average annual precipitation puts Luxembourg above Italy, and much above Spain. Considering the mm of rains however it is not even a very good metrics, you should consider the number of sunny days instead. Apart of that, if you restrict the analysis to cities, in southern Spain and Italy you have some of the sunniest cities of europe by any statistics. Let me reiterate that you were just unlucky, and by any statistics southern Italian and Spanish cities are much more sunny and less rainy than Luxembourg

Luxembourg has loads of potential but it is NOT an easy nor welcoming nor fun nor cheerful nor organized nor safe nor easy place to live. Expect every little detail to be a challenge and micro aggressions or just full on aggression and xenophobia! Ohh but don’t criticize because people also don’t like to hear the truth including some expats who are in denial! Expect to be fight tooth and nail for everything. Of all the countries I’ve lived this takes the cake as the worst experience!

Hello, I'm so sorry to hear that because for me it's the first country I don't have problems to make documents, register in municipality, speak English or make a bank account. I don't feel like outsider and I didn't have problem to make friends and find my group of people fairly easily (and if you watch my channel I lived in few places already). You can't compare mentality of people with south of Europe of America (but neither Germany, France, Poland or Netherlands has as welcoming people as I found in southern countries) but never had rude situation or feeling unwelcomed or like an outsider. Also you have such a variety of people from many countries and cultures that you can ignore people who you don't fit with or find rude or unwelcoming. Speaking from a EU citizen perspective where I didn't have to deal with permits, visa or TB tests so maybe I'm biased or I'm just lucky. Again sorry to hear your experience is much different than mine 😞

How about you tell the truth about 98% of those international friends and people moving there and then leaving after two years because Luxembourg is boring, expensive in a way that you cannot save enough money to buy a place and most work places are toxic which makes them jump from one job to another? What about the "friends" that you see twice a year because everyone will try to escape every weekend making it hard to keep up with your "friends"? Stop over-hyping this depressing place where you see people coming in and out and the only 1-2% staying are social climbers and nouveau riche people who wouldn't make it far in their home country and finally feel privileged because they get to speak English and brag about how rich they are although they live in shared flats paying half of their income in the insane rent and not to mention the excessive food prices with the worst waiters you will ever see.
@ByMagdaYT
@ByMagdaYT Год назад
Hello, I'm sorry to hear that's the experience, mine is different (nobody made me speak positively about Lux it's my opinion based on living 2 years here and definitely I know people around me who agree, I try to avoid people who don't like the place, as I say you can always move out nobody holds you in Lux). About the money and how expensive is it, I recommend you to watch one of my most recent videos about how much I send a month living in Lux because trust me I can save money and same my friends 🙈 about toxic work places, you have them everywhere, here at least they pay and you have a freedom of change for many people who work in the offices in other countries they're toxic but you may not be able to change.
@matthewmic12345
@matthewmic12345 Год назад
@@ByMagdaYT There are a few cases where people actually like it in Lux. However, it Is unfortunately a fact that the majority leaves after two years by average because the money isn't as great as Luxembourg makes everybody believe (maybe when you're from FR, PT or Eastern Europe). And the majority leaves because they are bored and the dating scene is just pure sadness. In terms of work, it's really representative of how bad the work environment is because people change their jobs like their underwear. Glad you enjoy it there but there are plenty of more beautiful and exciting places with interesting and kind people in Europe. Maybe with lower income but definitely with high standards of living and quality of life such as Switzerland or Austria. Actually in Switzerland you make more money in Lux and you pay the same for rent and groceries. But the best part would be the breathtaking views of the beautiful lakes, mountains and the people who are way nicer than the social climbers and nouveau riche in Lux.
@ByMagdaYT
@ByMagdaYT Год назад
@@matthewmic12345 I personally know more than few people who are happy here, I think it really depends what you expect from life. About Switzerland, I haven't lived there but my brother did and when I visited him I didn't have a good impression of the country (we call it in my fam police country, your dog can't even bark at night...), About Austria never lived there, never been so convinced as a country that is welcoming but maybe you're right (I'm not personally attracted to it). I used to live in suppossidely great countries (Spain, Italy and if you want we can add also US). For first two, yes people are nice (actually in Italy, in Spain for me not really but I was in relatively small place - Cordoba), suppossidely nice weather (I lived in south and had the coldest winters and most rain in my life but I guess it's my luck haha) but unfortunately those countries are not possible to live with my degree and salary that they offer (and work places are much more toxic than Lux ones hahaha) also unfortunately very probably in few years they won't be possible to live in for summer as it's getting super hot :c anyways I am happy here and you don't have to convince me how bad it is, I've heard it also changed over years, idk when you were living in Lux but honestly it has a lot in offer nowadays

@@ByMagdaYT unfortunately that's your impression about Luxembourg and maybe your friends. I am speaking on behalf of all the people, the majority, who have left by 98% every year and on behalf of every single person who is thinking the same that Luxembourg is simply overrated and overpriced. It has not changed much in the last years except for the events the city organises just to make it look like it is a lively city but at the end of the day the theme stays the same: nouveau riche meets nouveau riche, social climbers enjoying the fame they get when they say they work and live in the highest paid EU member state (although given the small number of inhabitants that is really debatable whether it is really rich because it doesn't have a lot of millionaires parking their money in LUX and just one billionaire who doesn't even live there). It is such a taboo to criticise Luxembourg and this is a shame that people like me are being censored and shamed just because we are brave enough to speak out our mind. If you enjoy it: perfect for you. But it is undeniable that the majority leaves as it is sadly not the exciting place as depicted in the propaganda. Just consider it like this: if there is no room for criticism then there is no room for improvement nor development and compared to excessively rich places like Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai or Zurich, Luxembourg is just stuck in the past believing that it is filthy rich and modern just because it has one tram (apparently for free although it is financed by public funding meaning tax money). Luxembourg has potential but the narrow-mindedness and it's endless self-glorification makes it not competitive with incredibly wealthy countries or places with high standards of living. That's probably why it is never ranked in any of the top 10 countries of the best cities to live in numerous international magazines or surveys. Let us have a voice as many have left the country already and many are shamed for speaking out about the problems of Luxembourg. Think outside the box.
@ByMagdaYT
@ByMagdaYT Год назад
@@matthewmic12345 first of all nobody has taken your voice away or tries to say it's not valid what you're saying, I just have different experience and I'm not sure how your experience is the one that majority has (where did you get this certainity that people are leaving and that 98% of them think like you and not like me or that they are just indifferent?). Also, you see tons of families with kids here, not all of them came here after having kids so I guess they didn't stay because it's so terrible and other places offer such a better life? Or maybe they really don't enjoy life and stay here "forever" just to torture themselves? Again my option, not a fact, if you wanna speak up about your bad experience here in Lux nobody stops you to make your own channel and spread the info that in your opinion is true ☺️
