A short look inside my Luxman C1000 preamplifier and how it functions with my Luxman T110 FM tuner and M2000 power amplifier. The C1000 (see link below) was produced between 1975 to 1979. Luxman also produced a similar looking preamp called the C1010 (1978 to 1979). These preamps were designed by Tim de Paravacini when he was working for Luxman.

That is really nice. In the 1970's I bought a brand new set of Luxman L110 and L100 Tuner for $800 at Pacific Stereo in Calif. Loved that stuff until I blew up the L-110. I would buy your setup in a second! Very cool video.

beautiful and your touch-mute works also. i have one and the touch-mute doesn’t work, it sounds superb but after a few minutes the sound gets very muddy so it needs to be serviced. Happy listening!

Nice to see this beautiful quality gear restored. I would however be afraid of 'toasting' the preamp with the power amp underneath.

Hi Henrik, thanks for watching! When I first installed the amp I had several inches of space above it. There are 3 air slots on the cabinet below, on each side and on the shelf above. I have the back of the cabinet wide open too. After swapping tuners I needed more space so I dropped the shelf. Truth is the amp runs really cool even over long periods of time. Take care 😀

is there a processing difference between pre-out and the speaker wire in?

Yes in terms of using the headphone jack on the C-1000, as the jack is dead with a normal preamp to amp connection. Connecting speaker wire from the M2000 amp back to the preamp allows you to connect two sets of speakers, like bookshelf speakers for example, and activates the headphone jack. Took me quite a while to figure that out without an owner’s manual.

Hello Sir.. what y oi u think of c1000 preamp.. I can get one for 200 usd and will have to restore.. does it worth spending money or just get something new? Thanks

It’s a very nice sounding preamp and a beautiful one too. See if you can have the seller demonstrate the C1000 before you buy it if possible. As shown in the video I had mine serviced and recapped. Hopefully you will know of a good service technician in your area. Good luck!
