A lot of knock-offs of those billion dollar companies’ products are made in the same factories in China as the name-brands. Furthermore, a majority of the knock-off manufacturers buy their leather from the same Italian factories.
That's exactly what I am saying. Luxury brands have the craziest margins imaginable. Their material cost is virtually the same as any other brand or no-name product. It's just at that point where they slap their logo on it, when this stuff gets so outrageously expensive. Why buy dress shoes from Gucci for $800 that don't really fit that well when you can get custom made ones with exceptional quality for half that?
As a child my father would compensate for this whenever he purchased a new belt for my brother and I. Long before he would ever allow us to get our hands on the belts he would thoroughly rub it down with a mineral oil and then lay it out on a table for a few days to set in and dry. It made the leather more supple and much less likely to dry out and start cracking anytime soon.
The belts are already piled before you purchased it, it’s also has a varnish on it to help make the leather last longer, especially if the leather is colored
@DaisyAppleJuice This was the 70's that I'm remembering and I'm not sure where he was purchasing them from but from what I remember, it was effective for making them last a long time. That was a common goal at all times with the budget being rather short.
"genuine leather" is made by taking all the "leather fibres" from the scraps and glued onto a fabric. That's why you get a chemical smell from it when it's new.
The problem is in nowadays product I and my family do own lots of Italian designer items older than 10 years they have incomparable difference what they use to sell what they mostly sell nowadays even fragnances are reformulated and couple of them are so diluted that do not project or last as in the year that they were introduced since majority of consumers are literally either novices or are blind in love to see the reality just Be Aware God May Bless you All❤
If you want quality then order hand made with true craftsmen. You can personalise everything from buckles, colour, design...and you are supporting people who are keeping old crafts on life support
I've known this for years. I have never, nor will I ever waste money on the "luxury" brands. They're overpriced, and made poorly. You're absolutely right to buy these items
These "high-end" brands are more status symbols than anything. Local shops have better quality at cheaper prices. You are paying for the logo. Not quality with these big brands.
When you buy from brands like this, you're breaking your bank for he brand, not for the product. It could be a garbage bag but because it's covered in logos, people will buy just to have the thrill to buy it. They are actually made at the same price range as really cheap brands before the logos are put on. That's why I love local craftsmen, you're actually paying to have a good product. Better material and much prettier designs.
As the quality declines in some of these brand's products, inferior quality is easily detectable by the naked eye for those who know quality. And they're raising their already astronomical prices. Will wealthy elites who can actually afford these brands continue to purchase?
When I explain between different grain of leather for furnitures, they’re mostly surprised to know genuine is not the best grain but the lowest quality!
No animal is killed on purpose for leather, since it is provided by the meat industry, for fur on the other hand animals are breed for killing, since most of the animals that have marketable furs don't have any other use
Plus i heard in school they would do bad things to the animals I think unalive them bad so the fur doesn’t get destroyed or I don’t remember the exact words bc It doesn’t make sense with the images I saw/ video I saw how they hit baby seals on the head disgustingly coldheartedly- like the argument was to save as much as gut as possible but how if they kill them by hitting them on their head…. But if i didn’t see the documentary with my own eyes I wouldn’t know. And those animals are tiny in comparison to human - so maybe 10-50 or even 100 baby seals must die so one jacket could be made…killing baby’s… But leather- like human eat sheep and cows so using their wool (is the less hurtful bc to much wool is bad for them) But yeah leather is death but the animal is being used even the ears and bones for dog food etc. I also heard that they ripp the feathers out from living animals (ducks) for our jackets and pillow etc…. Human are so disgusting for nothing at the end… for „looks“ or their own „privilege“ (well-being ) Ethically animals are animals so I don’t wanna argue - just wanted to share my knowledge😅 Ah and like those animals SHOULD be cared and loved for everyday (sounds strange to love and kill a cow to eat and use) but fur animals are mostly still wild animals that are also existentially threatened BECAUSE of humans killing them baby’s for fur….
I considered buying a Mercedes, then learned about their awful maintenance costs. Then considered an Audi, and they're even worse! Then looked at the price tags and decided to get a 20 yr old Honda instead. Couldn't be happier.
A lot of fast food companies do a very similar thing when it comes to burgers where they’ll advertise that they’re made with grade A beef, but grade A is actually the lowest grade of beef
I actually dislike the texture of full grain. How lucky am I to like cheaper material?!😂😂😂😂 But in general I dislike leather. Also... those high-end brands are more often than not, ugly. I can notice very clearly the difference in quality in their clothing (they ARE high quality indeed), but the accessories are usually ugly to me, regardless of quality.
Some high end jewelry brands have beauty jewelry. In India the inclination is not that much towards diamond maybe that's why I find those beautiful but yeah if we overall see as jewelry then you will always find better and more unique jewelry in jeweller shops, they can make whatever you demand. If we are going for gold and gemstones and work then there are such beautiful jewelleries here that I at least don't see on websites of the mostly popular brands. There are few like Amrapali who is good
Yeah true! This guy acts like it's a huge problem but it's just real leather which is perfectly fine for non-harsh working conditions or anything else which requires it to be crazy high quality
You act like they use VERY bad materials but that's not true 💀 Sure, it's not the best of the best leather most of the time but guess what, it's not made for harsh working conditions, it doesn't need a thick grain layer to make it heat and abrassion resistant. It's a handbag and it's meant to be careful with. It's not fake leather, it's not topped with a big layer of polyurethane, it's just fine
I have this old coach wallet made from water Buffalo leather. The wallets over 20 years old I've carried it on my pocket everyday on construction sites and while paving roads it still looks and feels great. Last winter I went to the coach store to get a new one to treat my self. They don't make it anymore just one covered in there dumb logo
This is why I've always said if i had the money, I'd pay for an artisan to make a bag for me. I love the classic shape of a Hermes birkin or Kelly, but the price is a rip off.
They're not trucking anyone. Everyone knows that a 1000 dollars is not what the materials are worth. You pay for the design, the history and esthetic of the brand and the art
Luxury brands are trash anyway. My husband and I bought Gucci wedding rings and 6 months later the gold was falling off both rings. As the video said "buy local".
I understand your guys make those INCREDIBLY AND I MEAN INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL TOP GRAFE PRODUCTS… but people are paying for the brand… unfortunately. I’ll never understand
Meanwhile, family and friends asking you money coz they spend theirs for these luxury items. Think first before lending them, they wont pay you back for sure.😅
None of the handbags I bought at Temu as genuine leather were even low geade leather...be careful! However the faux Foxtail key chain was indead genuine fur to my surprise, however wasn't a real tail, instead fur stripes stitched & glued together to a tail shape...which ofc for me was a pleasant surprise... PS: no disregard to your opinion... I'm a passionate animal lover, a very responsible & relliable pet owner, yet I'm also a carnivore, my feet love leather shoes & my skin prefers leather goods!
My faux Lacoste leather wallet lasted longer than a real Lacoste wallet (been using it for 14 years) probably because the fake one is made of real high quality leather
This is just wrong. The Louis Vuitton bag pictured is made with a material called canvas. It is significantly more durable than leather. The accessories are made with leather yes, but they are in no way cheap pieces of leather. Same with Gucci, who literally started making leather luggage, also uses an extremely high grade leather. Not sure about YSL, but please stop spreading misinformation. Louis Vuitton bags are expensive but they are extremely durable. I have a LV canvas piece that was once my grandma’s who passed to my mum who passed to me and it is still in good condition and I use it everyday with care.
That's not true my boy. It's still a leather which isn't topped with a big layer of polyurethane or paint, you can litterally see the texture of the skin. It might not be the thickest leather but its real and it's more than ok for items like bags. It's not meant for heavy working conditions no shit
Says that: Goes and looks at wife's CoachxDisney purse I paid around $100 for. Nope def looks a lot closer to Top Grain than Genuine. Where you Christmas shopping bro? The guy on the street corner?
That really makes sense my friend have a Dior wallet and Dior handbag when I am feel the detail and look it is a same quality as a night market quality 🤣
I bought my shoes in egypt and its top grain leather/ full grain i bought them for 1175 egyptian which is 30 GBP so i call a steal and i have had them longer than these genuine leather shoes from the uk and they arnt detoriating any time soon
My leather jacket is Full Grain and cost £200! So my locally hand made leather jacket is better quality than a £2000 brand product 🤣🤣🤣🤣 that is sooo funny.
Genuine does not mean high quality at all, if you though that you need to get yourself a dictionary. Because all it means is real, not fake, actual, not an imitation, the real McCoy!
Listen. I appreciate the FYI about the leather scale, but You didn’t have to tell me that they are all I scam. I figured that out when a white T shirt was 500 FUCKING DOLLARS
Nowadays, everybody wanna talk like they got something to say, but nothing comes out when you move the lips, just a buch of different (?), just motherfuck when they forgot about D.R.E.
