China high speed train seating primer: A/F are always window seats, C/D are aisle seats. In 2nd class, seats are 3+2 with ABC on one side of the aisle and DF on the other. In 1st class it's AC + DF. In business class, it's A + F, or AC + F, or A + DF.

It's interesting for me, as a Chinese person who has always lived in this country, to hear about different experiences. Because of my business trips, I regularly take high-speed trains. I heard that you complained about the air conditioning in VIP class because it was too hot. However, I always need to wear more layers in second class. I think the key reason is that we have different temperature requirements. Maybe you can ask the attendant to adjust the temperature. I believe they will be glad to help you because it's their responsibility. Additionally, to avoid crime and other unnecessary trouble, I advise you to order a taxi using a mobile app (like Didi, similar to Uber in the USA) in advance or wait in line outside the station.
@thisiskevin1000
@thisiskevin1000 2 месяца назад
Didi has long bought Uber’s mainland China business as part of the US ride-hailing app’s cost cutting measures and reshuffling of its overseas operations. Outside of mainland China, Didi has presence in Japan (minus the ride hailing feature) and a number of Latin American countries under Didi 99 brand

@@josieliftsthingsIn China, a lot of elderly people complain about the AC being too cold. Also there is a saying that staying in a space with AC on full blast is bad for your health in general and would cause Arthritis (I am not medical professional so I don’t know if it’s true) That is the reason these trains have the temperature set around 27 C/ 80 F by default. @@shunchi691 I respectfully disagree. For one, the increasingly unpredictable weather patterns is causing significant flight delays/cancelations which would not occur as often with rail. Having a high speed rail alternative might also introduce more price competition with the air alternative that might bring down air travel prices. Ultimately, it would be preferable for Americans to have the choice of rail vs. air.

The next time you see them, you can reply "no" seriously and they will go away. Remember to choose a formal way to leave the station. Using the Didi app to call a taxi anywhere is the right choice. Every station will have a pick-up area for Didi platform drivers, and the platform will pay attention to your safety throughout the journey.

In China, there is a special software for buying tickets for high-speed trains, on which you can buy tickets online and choose your favorite seat. If the software doesn't support passport purchase (I haven't tried to use passport purchase), you can also explain to the conductor when you buy offline that you want and your favorite location, or if you have a companion, you can ask the conductor to arrange you together. Of course, because of the large number of travelers in China, it is recommended to arrange the trip one day in advance, so that the possibility of buying the desired seat is greater.

It can get really annoying, especially for people who don't feel good about rejecting others. Regarding the AC, most Chinese never buy the idea of "22~23 Celsius is the most comfortable temperature" for some reason. Chinese, especially the elders and women, are more used to 26 Celsius either because of energy saving or because they are just more used to it. Regarding the allocation of seats on the HSR, the situation is as follows: in case there are spare seats, if two tickets are booked at the same time, these two seats will usually be arranged together. However, if the seats are tight or if someone refunds the ticket, it is possible that the two seats are not next to each other. You can look at the seat numbers before you pay, and if you think there's a problem, you can cancel the payment and repurchase. This method also applies if you need a window seat.

But the new version of business class is only seen on the latest trains which usually just appear on the lines that connecting two big cities. If you see the sign of something like "smart" trian, that's definitely the new version one, so maybe you can try them again sometime.(you can just go for a very short ride and that will be very affordable, that's what we often do to try new products on the trains).

The pink ribbon on the toilet seat has two functions. The first function is to make it convenient for people to lift the toilet seat without touching it directly, as many men prefer to lift the seat and urinate while standing rather than sitting down when using this type of toilet. So they need to extend and lift the toilet seat. The second reason is that when the seat is put down, it sometimes makes a loud noise when it hits the toilet. This rubber handle can also absorb some of this noise.

There is a misunderstanding about the air conditioner on the train. The train,definitely is equipped with air conditioner and would be turned on if necessary. But as you can see,the train attendant even gave you a blanket ,because it was a bit chilly for most Chinese at the season. The body constitution is quite different between western people and Chinese people. Chinese people tend to get protein from white meat(like chicken、fish),while western people eat more red meat(beef,lamp ,etc). And red meat eaters tend to feel hot ,while white meat eater is easy to feel cold.

Kunming despite being the capital of the "poorest" or the second most poorest province of China still is a very very wonderful livable and gorgeous city.The Kunming metro is nothing like Shanghai metro so Cab drivers would come up to you which many Chinese literally prefer that. as guessing you went to Kunming South station which is at the very outscart of the city so pretty understandable. But that said, there could be others feeling a bit cold if they do. So it's going to be a balance act. It's a train serving general public at the end of the day so things like temperature needs to cater to most people not just some.

I am not sure why it is confusing. You book the seats available. It is printed on the ticket. They are not double-booked seats. So why is it confusing? If some other passengers want to swap seats with you, that is between you and the passengers. Why has it anything to do with the booking system? Please be clear and precise in your narrative as this kind of "misinformation" will spread.
@josieliftsthings
@josieliftsthings 3 месяца назад
What possible misinformation? You can select seats but you’re not guaranteed to get them when choosing VIP, because the configuration of the train is not known at the time of booking. I think you need to settle down a bit and not be so sensitive to such a small thing. It’s a bit of an overreaction.
@jimkuan8493
@jimkuan8493 3 месяца назад
@@josieliftsthings it makes zero sense. your seat is printed on the ticket. There is no such a thing as unknown configuration. You are not the first person filming the business class seats. I literally said VIP above, which is a different class to business. I caught both I this video. When I reference that I’m talking about “VIP class”. This is the information I was told by 12306 customer support chat. For the record, the configuration DOES change. When we booked business online it was a 1-2 configuration. When we turned up it was a 2-1 configuration. Meaning B and C were not seated together. They were when we purchased the tickets online. We literally didn’t even complain about it. Just shared my experience and you’re flipping out over it lmao. Calm down. Your lack of control of your emotions is embarrassing. Yes, I’m aware other RU-vidrs pander to the Chinese audience for views. I tell the truth. If you don’t like that, go watch those who want to make you feel good in return for money - there’s a lot of them.
