Yeah respect for that. I wouldn't be surprised if they had a hard time paying off the mortgage. The fact that they had a big house doesn't mean they were rich. Anyway they build a stunning house
This is a good book. Does provide a step by step introduction to how to build things ru-vid.comUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 , also does offer some steps. Includes pictures to give you ideas for layouts and such. If you are looking for a guide, this is not exactly what you want. But if you are trying to familiarize yourself with the way that pole barn building and other out buildings, are made, then this will work just as you need it to. A few things in this book are a barn (of course), detached garage, storage building, and coops.
Can I just say that I love how excited she is sharing features of the build that she just wholeheartedly appreciates. This tiny home of theirs is such a labor of love and it really is their lil' pocket of home.
Where? I’m asking because I was trying to figure out where they’re from. I am totally amazed at what they’ve done. They could become the worlds best tiny home designers!
This is a high-end Tiny House and I LOVE IT! Also, I think it's important to include ALL types of Tiny Homes on my channel. A few weeks ago, I published a tour of a Tiny House built for $25,000 with reclaimed materials. There is a huge spectrum for these houses, and it has nothing to do with size (they are all tiny). Instead, each house is unique for different needs, wants, and income levels. That's what makes this movement so special. In my opinion, showcasing Tiny Homes with different price tags proves that: 1). Tiny Houses can't be measured by cost per square foot, 2). You get what you pay for, and 3). Each Tiny House truly matches its owner. Don't make jealous comments if you can't afford a $125k house! You can build a Tiny for much less. Remember, there's no trophy for who can live in the most frugal Tiny House. If there was, I wouldn't want to win it!
I really appreciate you posting these more expensive houses as well. Even if I can't afford them, it's super nice to see what different people consider important, and tips and tricks that make every tiny home unique. Thank you so much :)
Thank you for posting a variety of houses. I may not be able to afford doing any of these designs yet but I am learning something from every video. As an example, their idea of the appliance shelves in the kitchen would save counter space even if I used a regular coffee pot instead or the separated toilet room in the bathroom are both good ideas
It's not a jealous comment lol. I think people are fixating on the price. It's really not that expensive. Condo around my area cost more for the same size. I am laughing at the sustainability portion of their thought process.
$125K seems like a bargain when you consider all the high end appliances, finishes, triple pane windows and doors, automation, and full solar and battery package.
$125K only for materials. The labor, the semi-truck, the tiny car are not included in that $125K. The labor is usually about 200% of the material, i.e. @250K. The semi-truck is probably $50K+. The tiny car, let's say, a cheap $15K. All in is about $435K.
@@Georgeqaws That's it exactly. You don't get it. They wanted something different that they created themselves. I love it. I'd take this any day over a Class A motorhome
Being a custom home builder myself, I would like to say that I am very impressed with this build. The attention to details and features are in this home are very well thought out. I would like very much to build a small home on wheels to enjoy in the near future. Thank you for this video, it is very inspiring.
@@Nordic_Mechanic lol! Some apartments are larger than some houses. A home can be an apartment or a tiny home. What I’m laughing about is that this home is not “tiny” to some ppl. That’s all.
let rich people have tiny houses if they want to, dont be jealous or criticize them because im sure they're happy traveling around the country minding their own business
Charles Bartlett living in that tiny house is extremely more sustainable than living in that mansion they have and if they’re happy that’s all that matters, they’re not hurting or bothering anyone, people need to be happy and let others be happy. Other rich people or middle class watching this video might want to change their lifestyles because of this video and that’s progress
Disappointed with the comments gatekeeping tiny homes. These guys designed and built it themselves, very personalized, creative with space, great for travel, and people are talking about losing the "spirit" of tiny homes because... they're wealthy? Is technology not allowed? Gosh. The spirit of a tiny house is living in a tiny house. Didn't realize the community was like this
I was astonished at the level of detail -- like they took every minor irritation we have with living spaces and created solutions. Very impressive! ( except for the fridge..... seriously-that thing wasn’t much bigger than a dorm fridge! 😄😄😄)
Because some people are loathe to admit they would love also to be wealthy because having $$$ gives you an abundance of choices. It’s easier to hand wring , bitch and moan about someone else’s fortune than to work toward increasing their own.
Hate to break it to you but all communities are like that. It's impossible to have a open community of people that doesn't have toxic and gatekeepers in it.
I loved them!!! They seemed like humble responsible adults that are living their childhood dream of making a home and traveling around the world with it!!! Inspirational!!!
@@leylajames2902 Yes Captain Obvious, I’m well-aware of that. This couple may be rich but they are absolutely not humble. I don’t know what your talking about regarding Chile.
@@annajohns738 “Chile” in this moment is not being used as the country way but in a way of saying “child” and how would you know they aren’t humble ? Just because of a video you dont know how they act
You are funny😆"She will live forever" mainly because she knows how to enjoy / be happy in any size home and share her ideas genuinely❤happiness is within both of them. God blesd
@@bigmud Really! How do you know? Husband and wife are ONE, and contribute the same value (anything out of love to build oneness) differently. If not, it's not marriage and your judgment may be right in such circumstances. God bless ♥️
That’s an amazing tiny house, probably one of the most creative I’ve ever seen. They maximized all the space and made it all universally usable. Truly amazing, great job!
Regardless of their financial status, they built this beautiful, amazing, well thought out home and they should be proud of their accomplishment. They have everything that I would want in a home. I LOVE the kitchen, the technological enhancements and the beautiful finishes !!! What an extremely talented duo. Thank you for sharing your home and the detailed information. I will def follow on Instagram.
Great job guys well done. Your home is amazing. You should be very proud of yourselves. Luxury living at its best. I love that there is so much storage and is so well planned out. All the best of luck to you. Be happy.
One could definetly built something similiar to this for less money. It'll take a long time and you'd have to make technological/qualitative compromises compared to their rig, but it's possible. But if you have the budget, might aswell save yourself the trouble of putting 2 years into solely building your rig.
Wow this is nice. This couple thought of EVERYTHING. From building a wonderful tiny home, to owning a BIG TRACTOR half truck to move it and lets not forget that tiny electric smart car!!
@Kenneth Boyer Yeah, that was my reaction too. The truck was more expensive than they spent on the house. Also there is no way his "materials" cost included all those appliances as well as the car. Those were ALL high end appliances, at least 50K, plus automation. They have at LEAST $400K all-in invested. Probably closer to $500K.
Agreed. If you’re paycheck to paycheck and don’t have someone you can crash with while you save money, it’s not easily obtainable. Also, idk a good deal of people who have these luxuries in their “normal” homes lol
Lion in the sun that’s pretty presumptuous of you. No, not everyone could no matter how motivated they were. Patrick is correct in what he said. It is definitely high end and beautiful and beautifully built but also they didn’t mention the cost of their towing vehicle. The semi and it’s conversion cost would have to be added on. Then there’s their electric car... they don’t come cheap either. So, @Lion in the sun ... No one is whinging or complaining or feeling sorry for themselves, just stating simple facts. So, get down from your high horse and read what’s there not what you’ve decided is there!
This thing blows away anything from HGTV! Though they were lucky enough to be able to afford to go overboard by getting a semi truck to tote it around all over the place -- not everyone can do that -- it's actually very smart, and having a tiny car to tote _them_ around at each stop is also very cool. Really excellent!
This tiny space is filled in with cutting edge technology, inventive engineering solutions and mutifunctional pieces of furniture. The result is absolutely stunning. Such a nice couple - creative, modern-thinking, enloying a free lifestyle and still modest and grounded.
@@ShadeSlayer1911 The point is that people who see the "tiny home" as worthy of any consideration other than an expensive playhouse for children...have diminished expectations of themselves , their lives and the future. So it is actually a jail cell...a prison for the mind that says...this is all I can conceive of...no room because I have no family, and no future. In another way...it's environmentalism and concern for climate change on an absurd level.
I think that is the most beautiful, functional, and intelligent tiny home I have ever viewed. They left no stone unturned in the design. I am in awe of all the things that they included, and the fact that they built it themselves is astounding. Wishing Julia and Robert a long and wonderfully large life in their tiny home. Thank you for sharing.
It’s actually refreshing to see this ! They could have a huge home with a million bedrooms if they wanted to but they’re saving money the best way they can by living in a tiny home and I bet this makes relationships stronger living with your partner like this
This couple figured it out...broke free from the shackles of conformity and opened up the highway to adventure while still enjoying the comforts of home....well done!
We moved from a big house to an apartment and I have loved the downsizing! So easy to cool, heat, clean, and so much time for all of us. Our last child is about to be 18 & we r now planning our next step. We’re not sure what state or continent we will be in but then I want my tiny home!!
Uhm, she rather has an european sense of what a full size refrigerator is. Keep in mind that 96% of the worlds population does NOT follow the "american standards". To put it into perspective, as a family of five we never had (nor needed) a refrigerator larger than what she has there, without a freeze compartement mind you. Very handy in the typical german "normal sized" appartement. Plus the energy footprint is probably 20-25% of the stereotypical american fridge.
A colleague shared this video recently and I was blown away by craftsmanship of this self made Tiny House. Everyone knew JS was a rock star at work, however seeing the life she has created with her husband was beyond comprehension ... WOW. JS... Im so proud of your thoughtful, innovative, sustainable friendly masterpiece. Life is about living healthy, loving people and having faith in something bigger than yourself. JS your new life exemplifies all the best in life Wishing you both the best now and always LLS, EY, NYC
I love this tiny home. I love that they followed their dreams and not listen to their friends. I bet their friends are considering joining them now that they see this lifestyle ☺️
Thank you for showing this beautiful tiny house, Jenna. Its a bit disheartening to read some of the negative comments on here trying to invalidate this couple because their home doesn't fit into what some people consider a tiny house. Having resources to build your dream home is something I wish for everyone to be able to do and something I aspire to be able to do some day. This house is perfect, for them.
Dude they're"limiting their footprint" by hauling it around on a tractor trailer. All the power to them for the $200,000 tiny home but call it what it is. They want to glamp for a year and there's nothing wrong with that but they're increasing their footprint massively with this thing.
@@CrosswaIk incorrect. People used to say this about my Tiny House when I was pulling it with a Ford 250. It annoyed me so much that I had an environmental engineer do an analysis to educate people who makes blind comments without research. I have the engineer all my stats, and he compared my lifestyle to that of the average American household. Even with towing my house 25,000 miles in one year, I was using less than 25% of the carbon a typical household uses in the USA. This house is larger and heavier than mine, but it still would not even compare. To understand why, you have to also include the amount of gas a typical working couple spends going to and from work, every day, with two cars. This couple works from home, and when they do drive during the day, they use an electric vehicle. Yes they move their house on occasion with a semi truck, but 7 mpg is also what the average Class A RV gets. Heck, I even got 9mpg with my 10,000 lb Tiny House and truck! You must also calculate their electricity (solar), water usage (heavily reduced with the compost toilet), reduced heating and cooling. I'm telling you, it doesn't even compare to the average household in the USA (which is alarming), let alone the 5,000 sq foot house they lived in before.
@@CrosswaIk Well yes, burning all that diesel does not diminish your footprint. Reminds me of those big bus motor homes or bus conversions. And since there is a lot of conversion parts within this home such as deck, tables, and ladder, hope neither one gets an injury or their beautiful home will be on the market. They did an amazing job building it.
Tiny House Giant Journey thanks for this response. I get so tired of people judging and complaining about what others have. Living tiny doesn’t mean living poorly. I’m renting a 700 sq ft condo that I would never be able to afford at over $800,000. I could buy a custom tiny 10x38ft, loaded for $150,000. All the same amenities and finishes in a smaller footprint but a smaller price per square foot. A 300 sq ft condo where I live starts at about $519,000. Thanks again for your great videos. Have a great weekend.
This is one of the nicest tiny houses I have seen. Well thought out and plan out, no space went unused which is brilliant. Hopefully one day I can own something this spectacular and still be able to travel around in
@@bajiraosingham9495 Actually! Sketchup is a free great entry to designing your own stuff, being a small trinket for a 3d printer or something like this.
First off, he says in the video that a lot of the stuff was thought up by his wife. Secondly, these aren't new ideas. There's a lot of workshops you can take that teach you this stuff. He even said he took one.
They really thought of everything with this build! Love the roof deck. To me, this couple built this as a permanent residence, thinking of their future.
That was probably the coolest tiny house I've seen yet. Really like the open kitchen into the deck option. One thing u didnt touch on was water storage. I imagine having a washer and a dish washer requires alot of it.
Why is everyone hating on the semi? Wasn’t it in the last video where the tiny house slipped of the jack and crashed... at least they are taking the extra precautions to keep their investments safe.. I mean the two Tesla batteries alone.
I didn’t know anyone was hating on the semi. If they do, they do not understand how semis work. I agree that they do a much better job than most houses and even most apartments at being affordable, yet their method of transportation is better for the environment and they don’t even need a driveway.
I think people are hating on the semi because the couple kept talking about how eco friendly they were being, but the big polluting semi was sitting right behind them. I was impressed by the gas mileage. I hope he was being honest and that truly is their towing mpg. I tow a 26 foot camping trailer and I only get 6 to 7 mpg!
By the way they built the tiny, you know why they are rich. Because they are so precise, organized and pay attention to details, and they are very hard working!
I love the fact you have your own truck. You really are self sufficient! The high end features and the beautiful design make this so inviting. I could easily live in this gorgeous home.
I would make the bathroom ceiling lower so the bedroom ceiling could be higher. Apart from that I wouldn't change a thing. Exquisitely and cleverly done!
@@carloscervantes836 50,000 dollars. But I have 10 other bidders on the upper piece as well, so if you want it imma need you to put down a 4,000 dollar payment in order to secure ur spot.
I cant believe people seriously think 125k is a lot. Have any of you *seen* the prices on homes? I’m from California and have been surfing through realtors for months now and my God, they’re expensive. Cheapest houses range from 200k-400k. Any lower and it’s a really terrible house or an apartment.
Imagine this setup being hauled by a Tesla Semi. Sure the cost is ballooning to over what a traditional high end home would cost. But zero emission, no compromise, mobile tiny home is very attractive to the nomad in me. I think as starlink internet becomes more widespread in America, this type of setup will be more attractive My dream would be to take this beast from national park to national park, build AirBnB vacation homes near the parks, and use the Tesla smart driving to keep me from crashing and killing someone, haha. The latter, though expensive, is necessary considering I’ve had trouble parking u haul trucks lol
Probably took them well over a year to build. That's around $100,000+ in labor easily. Not to mention that Volvo semi is easily $150,000 + the smart car, so add another $250,000 to that price tag
I'm a retired C.D.L.-A, long haul Trucker. I am definitely impressed with your 'rig'! Cozy and practical! You definitely got the wheels in my imagination spinnin' as I explore "Tiny Living" as my path forward! Thank you!
This may not be your idea of aTiny, but it is one. They built it themselves so it has their wants and needs just like every other Tiny House builder. Why should you skimp just because you downsize? Perhaps people are forgetting the sale of their large home made this one possible to put in better appliances.
Like i said if i ever moved into a tiny house it would probably be like that one. If you can afforf it why not and its really not that expensive.125k is extrememly cheap for where i live. The condo used to live in was 3 times that and about the same size. But calling it sustainable is laughable.
@@Blahrg I think they were calling it sustainable in comparison to where they used to live... A tiny house is definitely more sustainable than a 5k+ square foot house
I love the use of space… storage in the ceiling, in the floor? Such a creative idea.. and all her “slide out” kitchen stations that just pack away.. They did such a good job with this one!
This is one of the best designs I have seen. It’s tiny but so spacious at the same time! The energy of tThis home is just amazing and quite extraordinary!
This is definitely the coolest tiny house I’ve ever seen. I watched a lot of these videos and love most of what I see but this blows everything else away. My opinion only.
That's an incredible tiny home. It's wonderfully built and a move from a large home to a tiny home that does everything they want is amazing. I love that smart car and the truck, it takes it to a whole new level. Just Beautiful! Thank you for sharing your home with us.
This thing is amazing! Some of their design ideas are absolutely BRILLIANT. The luxury aspect is a bit much for me, but it is clear these folks are super happy with what they built themselves(!) and considering they were living in 5,000 square feet...it's amazing they even thought they could downsize their physical space like this. Another thing about this to consider: A couple like this, who were using so much before, has a bigger impact on the environment when they switch to a tiny lifestyle. It may go against the grain for some in the community to welcome "rich people" in, but if folks are serious about the tiny movement helping the planet, you gotta get the biggest consumers involved too.
Well, it is a considerably smaller footprint from 5,000 sq ft to 300 sq ft. Then there's the fact that that they built it themselves, that is just amazing. It is well laid out and fully planned to the last inch, very efficient.
Why the hate? They have managed to build something wonderful and if it's luxurious as well then kudos to them. I enjoyed this episode just as much as I have enjoyed the previous one.
I love this featured house as well as the owners. I appreciate the diverse houses you feature and completely see the point you are making by featuring this one. This one really inspires m
I agree ..Often when we are viewing the Tiny houses the idea is that it inspires and its not always that we can afford such a house or that it would be practical for us/me...I am not in the position of this couple, who are a real partnership, with money and a good relationship, who are inspired and also very practical....for instance there is no way I could imagine driving such a monstrosity ...and its cost will be at least the price of the tiny house if nor much more when you factor in the car and fuel...this video is for dreaming...wonderful ideas and also beautifully filmed, thankyou Jenna.
Brilliant and efficient! A legit tiny house, blessed with high- tech extras, a truly tiny car, and the safest, most efficent vehicle to tow it. Yes, it is. You'll not get 8mpg with a pickup truck this heavily laden. 21k# house + 2k# car is more than the beefiest diesel pickups can even remotely tow, much less safely maneuver or stop in emergencies. Yes, they invested a lot of money, but it's worth it. They're off grid, they're happy, and this was a wonderful video!
I’m so impressed with what they’ve done. There were more “conversions” that had to be done than I would be able to do... but moving things back and forth and shifting things for multiple purposes is what tiny homes excel at. I would have to do a bit less of that to enjoy it. But, hey, it’s not about me! THEY LOVE IT! And I’m so happy for them. What a unique way to spend those empty nest years.
Probably the nicest tiny that I have seen. The designed it to live in! So many have features that you will never use because it is too difficult to get to them. I saw one where the lady was excited to stack all her cooking dishes and pans in a storage ottoman in the living room 😮
This is one of the best inspiring Hi-Tech Tiny Homes on wheels I've seen so far. Simply love the idea of parking within nature overlooking the beautiful blue ocean Congratulation. Much love from Malaysia.
The bathroom is always my favorite, weird I know, but I love that u have a separate room for the toilet 🚽, I think that’s AMAZING, they should have their own room. Plus I love the shower, it’s not tiny. I also love the pot filler above the four burners.
Janice Hamilton - I never said anything about the compost toilets having a smell or not, I was just saying it’s nice to have privacy when using the toilet, especially if someone is in the shower.
I love this couple so much! Very positive about tiny living, and sharing the inspiration they had, with others, to live the dream. Their house is so well thought out..well done, tiny couple!
I love this. Let them travel in their mini manison! Its awesome that they want to be part of the movement instead of looking down on it! Just bc you have money doesn't mean you don't want normalcy ! Well some of the time lol Love it!
This is gorgeous. That mother of pearl tile is stunning! To me, all these tiny houses that are featured are unique and beautiful in their own way and that comes from decor design of each individual owner and their style. Love this channel!
What a lovely home. I love the wood stove with the oven feature. This home has so many unique things about it. I can completely see it was made with all of their needs to fit their lifestyle. Amazing job on the shower too!
What a beautiful house. The owners pulled many useful features I've seen in other builds, but coordinated into a luxury home. A few items caught my eye. The shower is tiled in mother-of-pearl? Whoa. Lightweight, but not the most durable of substances, but since it is just the two of them and if they are careful, it should be okay. I bet the shine is incredible. I've seen the decking stored under the frame before and it is one of my favorite aspects. It is not often you see a tiny rigged to be a "party house" complete with mini-wine cellar and pizza oven! I also love their towing setup. Room for a small car and a comfortable, safe ride. I wish them well and many happy trails.
OMG every day I see more beautiful Tiny House. Tiny homes are just getting better and better and more functional and luxurious. I am so jealous. My dream living someday🏡❤️ this is absolutely a beautiful Tiny Home❤️❤️❤️💕💕💕

When he said "Okay Google, turn on all lights." at 11:44, it activated MY home assistant lol. 😂 By the way, absolutely love their home! Awesome work, Julia+Robert team! 😉
I was skeptical at first, but I gotta admit, they are very sensible, logical and intelligent. They used the space well, and executed well thought out plans. Also, they didn't spend much more than what some of these tiny home manufacturers now charge people. They did it themselves and so they were able to use high quality items and materials. I respect that a lot.
One of the best videos I‘ve seen on RU-vid so far! Love their style and way of thinking. Acting as responsable and eco friendly as they do is s true inspiration! Thanks for sharing this beautiful home.
