This great winter hike near Obergurgl is not intended for normal winter tourists in the Ötztal, but is mostly undertaken by snowshoe/ski tourers and locals. The tour leads through the stream bed of the Gurgler Ache to the Schönwieskopf (2324m) to the Schönwieshütte. A challenging and wonderful winter hike in incredibly beautiful nature. Top recommendation.

Gurgl - “THE DIAMOND OF THE ALPS” is the advertising slogan of the exclusive ski resort. The Ötztal Nature Park is directly adjacent to the ski resorts of Hochgurl and Obergurgl. It encompasses several natural areas of the Ötztal, including the Obergurgler Zirbenwald natural monument and the UNESCO Gurgler Kamm Biosphere Park. A beautiful area at the very end of the Ötztal.
