Thank you for showing off Mexico. I asked a world travel where to take my mom for her 50 birthday and my 30th. He didn't have to think long, he easily choose Shangrila in Playa del Carmen about an hour from Tulum. We went and couldn't believe the beauty of Mexico. We had the best time. We visited Tulum too. After that trip I moved to Mexico and spend 5 years in paradise. I came back to the USA because it was hard to find work in Mexico. I still visit every couple years.

Actually lived here when I was last there... pictures & video do not do justice, because the fragrance if the ocean, the bamboo & mud from the walls along with the luxurious & simple fabrics... the combination is just AMAZING & LUXURIOUS 💕💕 Thanks for the reminder. Oh, the day we arrived, it started pouring... was like a monsoon torrent coming down the thatched roofs... the sights & sounds were out of this world💕💕

Chukum is mainly used in swimming pools because it’s waterproofing properties but yeah some use it in houses too (as Mayans used to do). It’s great because it’s natural and low maintenance 🙂

We live in the country and we have an outdoor shower....it is the most amazing feeling to shower outside....we stayed at a ver unique, secluded off the grid home in Maui many years ago and it had an outdoor bathroom...I never forgot how cool that was so when we renovated our home and put in a master suite, we also put in the outdoor shower..one of the best renovations.

@@HouseofValentina Yes, it makes for a good story. We were in a cenote deep in the jungle in Puerto Morelos when my husband was stung 2 times. There was a scorpion in his life jacket. They say if you see one there are usually many near by because they live in groups. My husband was stung by a black one so he made it out okay, just was numb for a long while.

I live on the US Gulf side and we have weeds in the water for 2 months now but not as bad as them. We can still go in and see the watercolor through the seaweed. I wonder how long does Tulum get the weeds?

Yeah the seaweed was pretty bad. None of us really went in the water which was a bit disappointing because it was so hot when we were there.

It’s usually through the summer. We always go in February and it’s not there. Although some years it’s worse then ever. October through March are great times to go the humidity isn’t crazy then.

I 100% share your enthusiasm on this style and it would be an absolute dream to stay there - but somehow this style doesn't really translate well to video and photos. It's the same with Wabi Sabi, it's a full body experience. But when you know you know! 🤎
