It’s just a basic line used to describe the mentality of a credit card, it’s not a big diss just logic be used to good effect If you decide to buy a lambo, you might have to sell your fridge
@@korhol2065you know the comment he made about people who wants to make themselves feel Superior by thinking they make others people feel inferior?? He was talking directly to people like you. You're not as important as you think you are.
What if I have 10 million dollars and buy one expensive bag I didnt need. I still have like 9.9 million dollars at least, I wont have to sell what I need anytime soon from buying a single thing I didnt need. This quote can be inaccurate but I suppose it applies to middle class?
@@jefftickleschitz1265 because people don’t know about luxury fashion. Case and point, the bag featured in the video is the Dior Lady D’joy which starts off at $3.4k for the micro size but $5k for the size pictured. The average person isn’t going to know this stuff and it’s ok! This is why you shouldn’t buy bags to flex but because you like them
Most of the time brand bags you can use for years. The problem is if the quality is good more that you want to replace it but bassicly dont have a reason 2. Unless you scratch it inbetween something the materials are pretty high quality, better zipper etc. Of course you then still can have bad luck, or a bad production but its made with the idea you can use it for years. However brands like Valentino ,guess etc probably give same sort of quality same as Zara sometimes. Massimo duti more expensive but it comes from same company. But i can act like a Versace sunglass is the same as a rayban....But it isnt. Same company behind it. But there are extra flexes on it, sometimes you cant buy somewhere else. Sometimes you can, and of course you must like it bassicly.
A house in the country is a much happier commodity than a designer bag, and living in an expensive house next to Metrotown USA! And no amount of overpriced cologne will help you if you or a loved one suddenly falls ill; just buy a cheaper brand that smells exactly the same.
"Money can't buy happiness, poverty can't buy anything" 😂 You do get "happy" after coming upon money and having your needs met without constant worrying and also having improvement on qol but it only make ones happy up to a point.
Here is a story when I was a kid: I once bought an ice cream when I was a kid for Rp.10000, but then I found out that the ice cream I bought for Rp.10000 was actually Rp.5000. It was a scammy situation I'll never forget.

Recent findings have shown that majority of public has been spending less on luxury brands. Many of them have been turned off or disillusioned of brand loyalty since it's not as worth it as in 90s where luxury brands like Prada, Gucci and so on were the go-to brand in fashion trends.
I hate people who flex their designer clothes and items, like I give a f*ck, I could care less, I don't need any fancy clothes to be happy, I like the clothes I have
I'm so out of the loop on fashion that I wouldn't even know what most of those brands' merchandise even look like without being told. I just buy what's affordable and comfortable.
That’s right, i swear by this mentality like why would someone waste money on a Cadillac Escalade when they could save half and buy a Toyota Land Cruiser and use the rest to go on a cruise and a trip to Europe, that way u have a more enjoyable experience and create memories and have interesting stories to tell unlike an Escalade that we will get bored of and just depreciate in value over time.
@@Ranvirgrewal2792 because not everyone can travel and some people like cars. When the world shut down because of COVID, I took the money I spent on flights and bought a cute Chanel. I love that bag still. Then in 2022 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. During intravenous chemo and radiation my travel was restricted. It still somewhat is. While I personally went for a Toyota highlander ( love that car) I can understand why some might splurge on a luxury vehicle. If they have the money and not going into debt and saving/investing well, let them enjoy their life
@@Lovemonniibee well i get it, if im a big shot celebrity as in a famous actor, athlete, or RU-vidr, i would splurge on livery also because I have a steady income to support it, but if i have a hundred thousand dollars that I saved up for, for years then splurging that would be a waste and I would rather spend that on experiences or ways to make myself more comfortable during a global pandemic.
@@kaith-xc3um ain’t no story love. I have documented my surgeries and treatment on IG. I’ve got scares and burns and nerve damage all throughout my body from many rounds on intravenous chemotherapy and radiation and I still take oral chemo twice a day. I’ve got tissue expanders where my breast use to be that cause severe body dysmorphia. Cancer treatment isn’t something to joke around with.
@@Ranvirgrewal2792 to each their own right? I think the most important things are 1) before you spend, make sure your savings and investments are sound 2) don’t go into debt buying non essential items and 3) buy what truly makes you happy. Because then it doesn’t really matter what others think. Want to take $5k and take it and travel, invest, buy a hand bag, go out to a restaurant-it’s all your choice 😊
Buy only within your means. It's okay for rich people to buy these bags because they can afford to buy this and not lack anything in their life, but if you have to use your essential needs fund to buy this, then clearly you have a problem.
True but still, what a rip-off. If I'm a rich folk that have these bags and can afford multiple, I'd still be offended that it turn out to cheap. It's like being sold diamonds only to find it's mossianite.
I love fashion. One of the main things that got me through the toughest parts of Chemo. I have a lot of feelings about LVMH and their markup ( as well as ethical work practices). But as a fashion lover I can tell you right now, a lot of us buy these things for ourselves and not to flex. For years I never really showed my collection because I was worried people would think I was trying to show off. In reality, it just makes me happy. I have a tote that cost $50 and one that now retails for $2.3k and they both make me smile. There are definitely people who buy things just to flex and that’s not a sustainable way of thinking. But also realize not everyone who loves fashion is vain or thinks that way
I love fashion but ill never waste my money on luxury priced items. I find a similar affordable version. I stopped buying most things in 2012 and use what i have.
@@arfriedman4577 hey to each their own! I love a good dupe! Luxury fashion most certainly isn’t a need and I don’t feel people should spend money they don’t have on it. I spend a lot on luxury fashion and fashion/and beauty in general. But I put more in investments and I’m not going into debt over fashion.
I whole heartedly agree. It makes me happy. It's not to perform for others. But to enjoy for myself. But I'm also not a fashion victim. A brand name in itself is not enough to sway me into purchasing it. I'm sure you agree.
Understandable because there are some things that I myself have purchased in the past and soon came to regret. The temptation to buying something is extreme and there are two reasons why people can easily regret making decisions like this. #1 Because the thing we bought was too expensive. #2 There was supposed to be something better than the current item that’s already out.
This is why almost everything I own is the cheap knockoff version of the original. The only designer item I own is a purple Coach wallet and that was a Christmas gift. I like it, but I haven’t used it in a while.
You can’t measure the value of some bag by looking only the material. People’s creativity, the design is not free and building the name of brand is not easy. Same as paintings, the canvas and the paint is not worth that much.
Unfortunately my aunt was like this. She was OBSESSED with designer handbags, but at some point she bought a gucci handbag and couldn’t pay for rent or groceries. She was evicted 2 months later due to overdue rent. Last time I heard of her, she was selling everything that she owned. She’s homeless now (I assume), not sure what happened to her.
Funny story, I once bought this gold Alfred Sung watch with a green dial for $30 because I thought it looked neat. Over the next few weeks I had people around me glance over it and give me compliments thinking it was worth thousands. One guy even offered to buy it for $500 to which I declined cuz I didn't feel right scamming him. It was than I realized that branding is all based on perception not value
alot of luxury brands arent even expensive because of the quality but simply just for the brand name and the reputation it has and the supreme brand is a good example of that
People will pay stupid amounts for brands that match their social status. Happily getting ripped off when you can get the same quality stuff at Walmart
my grandparents drilled into me to never buy anything on credit and now i am 68 and dept free while other people i know with credit cards are drowning in it. its too tempting if you have one to buy the stuff you dont need.
Yep!! The same goes for the people who buy Hermès bags that cost between $5k - $250k. The way grocery prices are rising, it'll be a luxury to buy meat, especially steak.
What’s also pretty sad is that many people who aren’t among the mega rich are willing to spend a fortune for “Luxury Brands” In order to feel somewhat high class, or just to flex. When you buy a name-brand product, You aren’t paying for the bag, you’re paying for a logo.
It reminds me of a satirical movie about the German fashion designer Rudolph Moshammer, who, in the movie, hired a "simple girl" in his store in Munich. He took her to the basement where his clothes are where he shows her cheap clothes and then he tells her: "I will put my label on and sell it for a price 10 times as high. You think, it is a ripoff? No. I don't sell clothes, I sell a lifestyle. When [customer who was presented in the movie] is buying things with my name on it, it makes them feel better about themselves. They are happy. I am happy."
Well... when you live in a "Democratic" Country where half of the Nation's voting population rabidly "defends" and unwaveringly supports the idea of electing to the Highest Governmental Office in the Land a CONVICTED FELON who has repeatedly admitted that he plans to be Constitution-subverting DICTATOR who'll actively retaliate against anyone who is not "Loyal" to him, then why should such excusatory behavior toward Corporate Greed be all that much of a surprise?
Same concept as: If the only thing unique about a personality is that they're famous for being "famous," you need to seek out your inspirations & influences elsewhere.
Yo bro thanks for the suggestion I’m in Türkiye and I visited sarkeci. It was nice. However apparently food all over Türkiye is expensive now. Even the local taxi drivers are saying that. Our food was 100 dollars for 4 people for a medium sized meal (and no, they charged locals the same price, I checked). Apparently economy has been bad recently. But the city is beautiful. I’ll go to eminonu next.
While I agree mostly, but the argument of how much it cost to produce is dumb. That is like saying the Harry Potter book only cost $5 to print but book store is selling it for $50. There is design involved, and before anyone start to say it looks so easy to design, everything is easy when it is done. Also, functionally same doesn't mean it is same, the fact is most designer bags are much more aesthetically pleasing than those you find in Walmart or Target.
1) Buy a normal-a** handbag, made of good quality. (Can be second hand) 2) Buy some supplies that look nice, and some glues. 3) Design that bag however you want... BOOM! You have yourself a fully customized designer bag; and YOU are the designer!! ROCK THAT STYLE!! 🔥😎🔥💯
If someone tries to flex on me with something like that, I will actually look down on them because all it tells me is that they have careless spending habits
Audi once did an April Fools joke in Japan by debuting Audi A8 that comes with a built in rice cooker. If someone asked about that specific A8 trim, they would automatically win a FREE Audi branded rice paddle as a reward.
I at least buy things that make me happy and these things do that a very long time! Even if it's just Hobby stuff other people would say is useless, but it makes me Happy, so I think it has a Big use. These things are videogames, special edition stuff about my favourite games, artbooks of my favourite games, anime figures, anime and gaming merch, gaming figures, necklaces, Drawn pictures and posters. On and on with these things! Btw I think you can buy happiness and that is nothing wrong to do! Love your Videos btw Ali!❤
When im shopping I tend to buy the middle option. Not to cheap and not to expensive so I got a guarantee of quality while being able to not waste money
I love my purses and handbags, but I purchased them second hand for about $5 to $150. Then googled the retail value. The retailer always sold them for $250-$1000. Ik the manufacturer cost is low so thats why I always purchase second hand.
imagine what our world would be like if we didn’t praise company names rather we upheld quality and price above all else, the competition and consumer variety would be insane 😂
Same can be said with expensive cars. Really vehicles in general. Mostly expensive ones. The cost is the same or cheaper to make than regular vehicles. But because some will have the basic "bells and whistles" to it, somehow makes it more expensive. Even if the only feature added was a sunroof....
Word is that the company Dior doesn't seem at least bothered by this report, even with all the accusations of slave labor and the actual cost of this handbag. It is like business as usual for them. 😢😢😢
remember there was some A minuscule green handbag that was sold for over 63,000 dollars atleast you can see the bag from this video easily and don't need a micro scope
I hate to admit it but yes, ali actually saved me from buying a watch which was like 25 percent of my current salary. I had my eyes on this beautiful watch for a long time but then ali popped up with this video today. Its better to spend on something useful rather than dumb luxury brands which i cant afford.
"If you buy things you don't need, you will soon be forced to sell things that you do need" That's master oogway wisdom right there. He will be proud. And for the gen alpha kids who think I'm talking about the youtuber master oogway I meant the character master oogway from kung fu panda franchise cause you gen alpha are confusing us older generations. Like there's a gen alpha thinking nyan cat avatar is a gay avatar and no your favorite content creators did not make the first whatever video they make if you think somebody is stealing the video check who made it first.
In the end, someone has to pay for the expensive rent, the fashion shows, the marketing and expensive advertising. That someone is you, me and everyone. The irony is that (for designer clothes at least), it's actually cheaper to go to the same country, have world class fashion designers create the same outfit for you, than to buy it locally at the same store.
You could find a similar handbag for the actual price it was manufactured at and no one could tell the difference. If you’re gonna buy a bag, then get one that you’ll actually use.
Even if I was "rich," I'd still live frugal and shop at thrift stores, bargain retailers, and budget grocery stores. Seriously, I'm proud of my cheapness. There's a reason Macklemore wrote the song "Thrift Shop", it was to mock the people who buy Gucci and expensive shit.
These fashion products aren't so expensive because of their use they are only expensive because of their brand value you can literally stick a gucci tag on a bag and sell it for thousands of dollars
