Thank you! Bags are fun and not to be taken so seriously - you must get what love and not worry about what others think!! Get what love with your $$❤❤❤
Well said! When I retired from my corporate career, I learned that the top handle bags I carried & loved for 30 years no longer fit my lifestyle. I got rid of most of them, and now I buy bucket, hobo and clutch bags, which I never would have previously considered.
Thank you for sharing your Luxury Lessons! I have to hide my bag collection from my family and friends; they do not understand paying $3,000 and north for a handbag. But my lesson learned is that I refrain from sharing prices or having long conversations about my handbags. I say thank you when they give me compliments, and I move on. I enjoy the RU-vid family and appreciate bag lovers. Awesome video...
I’m so sorry you feel you need to hide anything from the people who love you. They should be happy for you that you have things you love, irrespective of how much they cost
I couldn’t agree more about bags not being basic. My Neverfull is the best work bag I’ve had. Also, I’ve learned to not care when bags are “out of style”. My LV Artsy is always on this list but it still brings a smile to my face and joy so I wear it with pride.
I always think it's interesting when people say that a black handbag would go with everything because I have to be intentional to wear one! I have a lot of bags and own a black Jumbo and 2 vintage mediums - I think they're usually quite heavy looking when I gravitate toward white in the summer and I wear too much black in the winter where I would prefer a pop of color. I'm trying to lighten up my winter wardrobe so I can wear them more often!
These are all great! A lesson I've learned is that it's ok for something to not work out. I used to have this idea in my mind that if I bought something new from the boutique, it needed to be a "forever piece" and I've since come to my senses that it's just not possible to know that. Sometimes it won't work out. You'll sell it, and usually only get a % of what you originally paid, and that's just part of it. I've made peace with that reality.
Thank you for addressing the "Basic" issue. I prefer to think of the "basic" bags more as "foundational" pieces to my collection. Long live the Neverfull and the Speedy! 🥰
So true! I also deal with a lot of guilt buying bags and with the small collection I have, but trying to have less guilt about it, I’ve worked so hard to get where I am and I deserve it!!
I started watching luxury content for research purposes because I write short stories and fanfiction. I got hooked on seeing all the beautiful luxury items. Of course I started wanting the handbags, jewelry and other accessories. I learned that I can’t afford them so I would feel sad about that. However, I came to the conclusion, I needed to get over not being able to afford the big items and decided to buy what I can afford like luxury fragrances or other items that could scratch that itch and I love that. So now I watch purely for enjoyment and entertainment. Great lessons, Meredith. Thanks for sharing!
Great video and very thoughtful. I really appreciate the fact that you advise everyone to buy what makes them happy. Not all bags are for everyone and may not fit their lifestyle. I strongly dislike when people share their opinion on how you should spend your money. Value is definitely a personal matter.
I am a black handbag addict! I am getting my first Lady Dior next week and am trying to get her in a different color but its hard for me. This is a great video love your collection!
My luxury rule is buy the thing you want. I've invested so much time and energy on purchasing the 'cheaper' item only to finally get the thing I originally wanted in the first place.
I have moved on a lot of bags that haven’t worked for me or I haven’t used for a long time …. My collection also contains bags that aren’t luxury but I love and use… loved this video
Exactly . I buy these bags because they make me happy . I don’t any black bags because I don’t wear black . I don’t prance my bags around . I just enjoy them !!
Love the rule that not everyone needs a black bag. Before getting into luxury, I never had a black bag because I thought they were really boring. With luxury craftsmanship and leathers, I like black bags now, but still I rarely carry them. Anyway, great video!
Gosh I have been watching so many of lux bags videos for years. How I just discover your content now! Your content is so much better. I do have a kind suggestion. I would love to see what bags you are showing from the picture of the video or the title because sometimes I am looking for a specific bag to scroll off. You outshine many of others with your content! If you are doing for yourself not for views, then no worries ignore my unsolicited comment and thank you for all your effort. Glad I discovered a gem !
The first time I heard someone say that handbags are an investment, my initial thought….that’s stupid. I learned early on that black handbags are not me. The color is too harsh. I have also discovered that with red handbags. I own two and rarely carry them. I would say that my biggest lesson is to carry what I like. I own everything from Chanel to cheapie Amazon bags. I carry them all like they are the finest ever. Life is too short!
My neverfull in black epi is my everyday bag, I love it. I love black bags also but I am a black wearer of clothes. I do have other colours though, mainly red. Thanks for your video.
I only recently got a Neverfull in empriente and I 100% agree, it’s the best travel bag. Nothing has compared and I have no idea why I let the fact they are everywhere influence me. I wish I bought years earlier!
I would be very interested to know what ones of your bags got the most use last year. I know you have your daily bag, so i am wondering if any of the others got used multiple times last year!! Thanks for always making us amazing content
I love your passion and honesty in this video lovely Meredith. You had fun with this topic and made some very valid points while doing so. A wonderful way to start my day. Thank you. Much love. Jenni. XX 💕💙
Great video. I hate it when Luxury influencers tell you not to buy a bag because it’s basic. I also think it’s funny when they say they usually don’t buy a bag in multiple colors but have 10 Chanel mini rectangular’s in different colors. It makes no sense to me. It’s the same bag. 😂😂😂
The lesson I've learned from Gwenny, and Amelia, is, how did you put it, "Don't buy for special". Buy luxury in the things you use day to day. As a Canadian who spends a lot of time walking in cold weather, I finally learned it was OK to buy designer boots, if I love them.
I appreciate vintage Luxury, some I bought years ago. I love classic styles which have wonderful quality. I bought 2 Chanel bags long ago which were vintage then. One is a black Flap Bag and the other is a small brown/black Wild Stitch Tote. There is nothing in my collection I would sell.
My lesson learnt is black is indeed the colour of choice for me! 😅 I was the opposite, have lots of black and brown/gold bags, and thought I ‘need’ other colours. Bought this beautiful, stunning iridescent pink Chanel bag, I was not happy! 🫣🙄 love looking at it, but just not me! ☺️ yes, I agree, we do what makes us happy. And bag is definitely not an investment. 100%.
Absolutely! I have never sold a bag before but I had multiple offers for this very bag. ☺️ I used the funds to purchase a reissue chevron in black with so black hardware instead.. ❤️😍
I have learned not to have Fomo, if its ment to be it will 😁 and also Im comfortable to trade handbags with my very good friends from our bag community , we all have different tastes ❤
I've learned that even if it's a crossbody I really need a top handle. I've learned that even though I like the look of some boho typestyle bags. Because the leather is really good. They just don't suit me. I like a nice structured bag. I've learned that even though I love to look at Louis Vuitton monogram. I feel weird every time I wear it. So recently all sold. Thanks for the video. i'd love to see how you style your new blue birkin. I have a bag in the same color and style but not sure how to style it.
just so casual and honest❤ I always love what I bought haha and true enough we evolve with time so does our choices. Btw you look stunning in blue haha😅❤
I agree with everything you said and I’m a big fan of black and white bags. I think we all have our thoughts on what we wouldn’t spend money on. For example, to me fabric bags are not worth it unless it’s embroidery or something of a kind. But who am I to tell someone else what to buy? An other thing, how many times now we hear that we shouldn’t buy any Chanel bag, it’s like a broken record on social medias. 😂I’m like girl, leave me alone, I’ll buy Chanel as long as I want, I’m making my own rules like it or not. One day I will wear my Neverfull and the next my Birkin. I don’t discriminate and I don’t need any kind of validation! ☺️
I (lightheartedly) take issue with one thing! I still have and wear a classic houndstooth tweed pencil skirt from when I was 13. At the time I begged my mom for it saying “I can wear this the rest of my life because it’s a timeless classic!” I don’t think she really thought I’d actually wear it over half my life though 🤔😂
My dad bought my school shoes in my senior years and the agreement was he would only spend the kind of money Doc Martins required if I was going to really wear them. I remind him regularly that in my 40’s, I have now worn them for 26 years. Pretty sure he got his moneys worth!
Love this video! 🥰 Jessiestyle here on RU-vid posted a video 3 days ago showing that LV is releasing the Pharrell Speedy in pink leather!!! I’m not sure when the release date will be but I know she does show pics of it in case you haven’t seen it! 😊 stay gorgeous!
Just from seeing the question on your thumbnail. The answer is no. I think you would feel much better rehoming that particular one to a dear friend who lives in the US!😂❤❤❤❤❤
Somehow, there is a pink speedy I saw on IG, just not in Australia yet. 😊 it is Pharrell line. But regardless buy what desires as long the individual is financially comfortable and no harm to anybody. Opinions will always be opinions. Have pride and confident carry it with grace. At the end it is yourself 😂🎉
LUXURY items are never an investment except for yourself. My friends and family do not care what I buy. And I never think about the resale value when I buy them (if I do, then I will better off not buying them)
To me, I don't think I need a NUDE color / Natural color that everyone says the color that matches everything. I do wear white and black colored bags most of the time but I find Nude is so hard to carry. I'm not a white and black person, I do wear different colors of clothing, but for bags, Nude is a big no for me. I only have one nude color, very expensive, but have never carried it out once!
They have the new pink speedy in the new collection!!! Personally, the price point of a speedy for an exotic is just my god, could not justify! But what are your thoughts on the frank gehry? Ever since i saw the monogram im trying to get my hands on one! Have fun at Savoire in Melbourne !! ♥️
The fact that people care if you sell your handbags blows my mind. I just sold off nearly my entire collection and purchased all new luxury bags I’m now more interested in. Why keep something you no longer want. It’s ridiculous.
What I knew already.. I only buy what I like, does nor matter if others thinks is not a good “ investment” because I dont “ invest” on these things .. just enjoy. My $, my choice
