perhaps what should be more disgusting is that i didn’t factor race into building my tiny house but when i first moved it to a RV Park i then was made aware i wasn’t welcome with the use of the N word and other aggressions to the point of considering needing police presence to ensure my safety, instead i moved my tiny house. they made it about race, i didn’t. i was living in my house minding my business. additionally disgusting is a later time on a farm location when white men in their trucks felt empowered to ride through that private property to again make me, a Black woman, feel unwelcome and unsafe in the area so again i had to move and later someone was arrested in another incidence for “racial intimidation”. so… instead of assuming the necessity of my conversation about race and tiny house living is “disgusting’ perhaps you should consider and investigate why it is necessary. i’d prefer not to have to have the discussion of how Black people have to consider their safety to be part of the tiny house movement -however in order to be part of the movement the conversation is necessary, as my unexpected experiences have shown. i/we deserve to also be part of the movement, as well as be safe in doing so. so with that, instead of being over here on my channel disgusted try first educating yourself on why the conversation is required and then secondly go spend your indignant energy dealing with white people and their racism -which is the entire root of this issue and so many others. be well…
@@MsBohemianSoulTV it is sad that we even have to consider educationg privilege white folks about what we experience. We can start any movement and they lay claim to it as their own and it's accepted but in the small event that they do start something and we take part we are subject to be lynched. Welcome to AmeriKKKA
I LOVE that she is working to pair black farmers with black tiny home owners. Also that she sought out a black builder. This is an example of us helping our own to do well financially. She put her money and elbow grease where her mouth is!
I almost cried when you started talking about pairing tiny house owners/considerers with black farmers... finding safe and reasonable housing is always so difficult for us (especially the further you get away from the city and into rural areas) and rebuilding our communities is so vital and often overlooked. I can't wait to see what you create in the future bc I know it's gonna be seen everywhere as it deserves to be.
That’s what I loved most about the video. We should be helping each other as a community. We get so little already so we need to pool our resources for the greater good. Love how she thinks!

Not understanding why a white person, would come on a black woman’s video to complain that she is mentioning HER race and HER desire to create INCLUSIVE spaces because WE tend to be very UNDERREPRESENTED. The absolutely ignorance, entitlement, and gall of some of you people is fascinating. The world is your oyster, still you find your way in black people’s business. I think what she is doing is very incredible and I love this home.
For someone to even come on and bring up it's about race when this woman didn't say nothing out of place she's just embracing being a black woman. And she's beautiful and she doesn't owe anybody, a explanation or apology. I support this gorgeous woman 1,000%. Many of the Ws community are naturally very jealous. like they were jealous of blacks in the Black Wall Street. so they burn down their houses and burnt communities because of their jealousy. 🖤💛♥️💚 But oh well they'll get over it it's a new day you don't have to ask permission to do God's work. 🧐🤦🏻♀️😎😇
That comment by the lady was awful. I'm white, and considering either a bus conversion or tiny house, and after seeing this video all I was wondering is whether I could pay Ms. Bohemian Soul to help me make mine look as classic and spacious as this! It's awful how she was driven out of multiple spot by evil creeps. I wish awful people would just crawl back under their troll bridges and not come out.
once again if all we see is white. Then it goes unsaid that their target Market is majority whites, I'm sure they include others but bc I understand Marketing it can get biased. She can decide who her Target Market is when it's a minority in need population.
I never thought about having to park your tiny house, I actually like that your showing this to the African American community. Sometimes homeownership is hard and rent nowadays is insane!
A truly beautiful home. You are an inspiration to black women. I LOVE IT!! As a single black female in the UK, I had been looking at tiny homes for years on youtube, but not seeing anyone like me doing it. And today here you are. You have brought such beauty and style to the tiny homes movement. I would definitely like to travel and attend your workshops. Jennifer J need understand that this is not about race, this is about inviting black people into a movement that they may have felt excluded from.
Hi Debra. I live in the north, in the UK, and yes, without RU-vid, and now some US TV shows, people were looking at me like I was crazy, when I talked about "living tiny". I am not in any type of position to do it, but, boy, do I appreciate the beautiful simplicity of it. The very best of luck to you.
I love this. Truly inspiring. I am 23 years old & have been considering building a tiny home. I currently reside in Washington, DC. Occupying a 1 bed, 1 bath, 549 sqft at $1,200/month. Electric not included. Pricey much. Of course I would like to purchase land first so my home could be anchored & not worry to much on placement. A great path for any person making their means for work them not against them. Especially black people. Pointing us in the right direction. Ownership is what I want to establish before 25. Having assets is what we all need. You’re completely right, we don’t have to sacrifice luxury. Thank you for more insight. I truly appreciate this video ☺️❤️

I'm in the same boat as you are Tee. DC, living in 1 bedroom, bath, $1200 rent. I started looking into tiny houses probably last year and this is the first time I'm hearing about not needing to give up something to go tiny.
Beautiful bald woman is what caught my eyes. I'm going through a chemo situation and loosing my is a possibility. I was shopping for wigs yesterday but now it's on my mind to rock the bald look. My hobby is photography and I'm thinking of doing a book of Beautiful bald woman also. Thanks for the inspiration.
NOBODY has a Tiny house as gorgeous as yours. I loved the building of it on HGTV. You were honest and forthright about wanting a larger closet. You knew what you wanted and you got it. Inspiratonal.
Jewel your home is beautiful! I loved hearing how you began the process. Many of us are so used to being surrounded by stuff. It clearly took a moment to get used to being without some stuff. Kudos to you. Spending money for something that’s YOURS. Absolutely amazing and truly proud of what you’ve accomplished. Thank you so much for sharing and inspiring.
Then you clearly haven't seen the breadth of creativity in the tiny home world. Appreciate this design but don't arbitrarily ignore the many others equally as beautiful and unique.
Society shows us we have to live in mansions to be super happy and comfortable but this video right here shows us we also can be super happy like this I love it
I saw your original build on the tube and it was the first tiny house I'd seen that screamed out luxury and home! It is so cozy and so open (love all the windows you did) and it is nothing but relaxing to the eye and spirit. I'm not in the market for a tiny home but if I was, I can say that yours is an inspiration for anyone who is thinking about it. Well done!
Tiny house living has been a dream of mine since I was in my 20's. Im 44 now and Ive been living in my tiny home a year and a half now. This is indeed a labor of love and Im taking my time creating my space exactly how I want it. 400sq feet on a resort and I have ZERO regrets. I am so glad we are now realizing the joys of tiny house living, and I get to educate my friends and family about it.
You are truly a jewel to black women for many reasons. Your confidence and pride shows through your videos. Thank you for everything. Keep being a role model through your design, clothing, decor, persistence, etc. 🥰
1000% agreed. Your style is SO beautiful and lovely--surely top of any tiny home style I've ever seen and it clearly radiates from you. You are very remarkable and please keep being exactly who you are because you are so inspiring and amazing.
Your home is a vibe. I love the “Black Wall St.” sign detail on the black wall. This video shows the beauty and depth of tiny house living. I appreciate the transparency and openness concerning this lifestyle. Love love the video
Same issue arises with building earthship houses. local permits won’t be given. I was introduced to earthship homes around the same time and back in those days a lot of people were being donated materials and volunteer helpers. It was as low as 7k to build a fully sustainable home that’s alleged to withstand earthquakes due to them being built in an erected/mound style. I’m glad to see some representation from back in the day on the tiny house topic. The house is lovely
I saw her on Stephanie Perry’s channel; and, she was one of the best to come on that channel. She’s a straight shooter, very articulate and she’s not messy. I immediately identified with what she was saying; and, had realized how I myself had been traumatized in a gentrified neighborhood.
Tiny house is excellent for me 74 year old lady needing to downsize and none of my children want me as I get older but want me to help them. Now I need to help myself. I want my own land in Texas.
I'm obsessed with watching tiny home tours on RU-vid. This is one of the most beautiful and unique designs I've seen. Love the whole tiny house movement and how it is allowing people to think outside the box and "design their life."
Sis, you were stunning with your hair, and you're even more stunning without it! I recently had to shave my head, due to my cancer diagnosis, and I wish I could look this beautiful. Anyway I've been watching you for a few years, and I was so impressed by your elegance, style, and how beautifully your home was decorated. Several of my neighbors just relocated to TN, from TX, and purchased tiny homes. Yours is truly remarkable, and when I'm ready I'll definitely be reaching out! God bless you, and thanks for so many great ideas 🙏🏽🌹
Sorry to hear about your cancer diagnosis. May the LORD bring healing, peace and HIS comfort to you IN YESHUA JESUS NAME AMEN🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽😇😇😇💞 Check out black seed oil and Dr Sebi mucus free alkaline diet, also check oregano oil and holy basil. Stay blessed 🙏🏽😇💞
I think she has a porch I can’t tell, broke my glasses. But the main trailer seems to be 400…I like adding an enclosed sleeping porch. I have tons of furniture and accessories I just need the structure.,selling my house and buying my own land. Away from nuts…
Hi there- so glad to see you and your beautiful house again. I watched you on that Tiny Home building show through your entire process. Back then you didn't call yourself Ms Bohemian and you had hair so I wasn't sure if you were a new owner when I first saw this. Your build was my favorite of all I've seen because you put such class and elegance into your design I was blown away. I love the porch addition for extra space....still beautiful. Sad to hear of your troubles in finding a safe place to park but you have persevered, good for you!
Yes👸🏾👸🏾👸🏾…. Beautiful home & tour I wish I could go back in time & tell my ancestors your cabins will be popular to live in 400 yrs from now in the future & they will be affordable homes called tiny🏠s (just with a more fancy interior)…. I love the positive twist
I remember watching this on TV. I was so happy for you with your walk in closet. No woman wants to give up all her clothes and we want hanging closet. I'm glad you have a wonderful living space. Keep helping and blessing others. Trish 9/8/21
Thank you for taking the time to read my comment. It meant a lot to me. Just letting you know we were out there in the 70s. Back then camping was all about family and friends getting together having fun sharing secrets to cooking and camping. Telling jokes, playing games and movie nights.
Ms as a young sista living in the Netherlands. I love this and I do understand why you mention the black community! Because we often think not so out of the box if we think about having a house or building of ourselves. Here in the Netherlands, most of my mother her generation never thought about buying property and now 30 years later a lot of them regret. All they were thinking is to buy a house in the motherland. Wich now makes it harder even for me to have a place because I could have gotten their house here in the Netherlands. Please don't listen to the haters! ♥️✊🏿💪🏿
I remember seeing Jewel's tour of her tiny home years ago and thought that it was one of the best and most livable tiny homes I had ever seen. It is so wonderful to see that Jewel is still living and thriving the tiny lifestyle. Much love to you, Miss Jewel.
I was so motivated and inspired after seeing your episode with everyone I knew when it aired. I'm so glad you came across my feed again. Your design is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing your story and being an example of choosing to live the life we want to live!
I have been looking up tiny houses for about 2 years now and yours is my favorite so far! I love that "you don't have to give up luxury to live in a tiny house".🖤
You will always be legendary in my eyes. I always read or watch anything about your journey. Your home is my ideal because it is lovely, afrocentric, and practical/liveable. Also no bending,or crawling!
I've seen some of these "tiny house" videos and I must say that this was the most enjoyable!! I'm a black older woman and I really enjoyed this video. You mostly see white folks commenting on these projects and it was nice to see a woman of color create something from a vision in her mind. Thanks for sharing!!! I'm all about sharing information.
I am currently living in 390 sq feet with my daughter this video has changed my life. You are one amazing women and I love this video. We own land and they have approved our blue print but our issue is the high payout to do this without funding. I cant wait to speak with you further maybe you can help us get further. You are the pioneer and trailblazer.
This is a beautiful tiny home. I'm so glad I found your video. As another Black/WOC that's a fan of tiny homes, it's great to see your video. I've been encouraging everyone I know to look into it as an option if they're able, as an alternative to traditional homes. I heard recently that a state (it may have been Vermont) is changing their regulations/laws with regard to tiny houses, and where they can be built or placed so they can be treated more like a traditional house. I think this is very promising for new and first time homebuyers, land owners looking to provide alternative housing for their families, and for the housing crisis for those having possible homelessness. Edited to add: as I was watching this video I kept thinking this house looked familiar, especially with the distinctive closet and arched window. Then I realized, I saw you on an episode of a Tiny House show on HGTV. I'm subscribing for sure. I was wondering where this journey took you, because there are so few BIPOC on the tiny house shows on HGTV.
So glad this popped up in my recommended section, your tiny home is everything ! I've been doing research for a while about tiny homes and that is the route that I have decided to take, thank you for sharing your space with us!
I love your home. I was inspired by one of your videos and others and did quite a bit of research before I built my tiny house, which is located in Creek Walk Tiny Home Community in Travelers Rest, SC. My home is called Tall Cloud Tiny and it was built to specs for my height of 5’11” and with my multi cultural aesthetic in mind. I have moved a lot of my personal belongings into the shed because I am renting it out at the moment, but I will be retiring soon and will be finishing the interior of the shed and the back porch to make it ready for me to live. Love your place and want to see more people of color go tiny!! My home cost about $103K and is 100% mine.
i’m familiar with that community and had planned to visit it and just never have. i’m glad to have been part of your inspiration and happy to hear the build of your home included a cultural aspect, i think that’s important to actually create home. i’m sure you are looking forward to being back in it. i too hope and look forward to more people of color (or people of the global majority, as i am now saying) being able to embrace and join this movement.
I’ve been following the tiny house movement for a while, but your story made me fall in love. You look like me (locs with red patch). Still have my locs, but still in love with you, what you do and the doors you’ve opened for people like “us”. Keep living. Keep inspiring and we’re here to watch it all…..
Omg this is so beautiful 😍 It opens up my eyes to think about being able to own a home one-day without spending so much due to the hard times knowing that I can dream to be a home owner is all that counts 😊
Your tiny house is so beautiful. I always tell my family I want the tiny house and they think am crazy. It's so inspiring to see a black woman in a tiny home because I watch endless tiny house videos and barely see any black people within that community. Your African art and colour choices are so harmonious. I am in love with your home ❤️❤️
This makes me so happy. I admire what you did with the tiny house idea, helping black farmers too. I saw this before but I had to see it again. Truly beautiful, the black zen feeling.
I remembered when I saw your show air. It was a sigh of relief I wasnt going crazy. I’ve been wanting to go tiny since 2000. I graduated from college in 2002 and I didn’t know where I was going to be but my home could be with me. Everyone thought I was crazy. Then your show. Once my kids graduate from high school, 2025, I’m doing it and it’s your home I love. It was the walk-in closet for me. I love it all. Many blessings.

You are definitely a trail-blazer. You’ve inspired me to look into Tiny house living. I absolutely fell in love with your beautiful home when I seen it on HDTV , years ago. Thank you for creating an opportunity to learn from your experiences. I am definitely interested in using your consultation services. You are amazing!!!!
This is the most beautiful tiny house I have seen. Looks like a small, stylish city apt unlike the typical tinys you see. I also would need a walk-in closet and bathroom counter space! You have inspired my design for my future tiny home. All the best to you, sistah. ❤🖤💚
Ive always thought tiny house living looked interesting, but not for me. I respect that you all are respecting the planet and choosing not to take up more space than you need. This is the first video that made me consider it as a permanent residence. I've been considering home ownership but I'm not interested in the lifelong mortgage. I love this as an alternative. The way you decorated it, and the design of the home itself: ICONIC! Lovely home, queen! ♥🖤💚
Beautiful Tiny Home! Love her style, outdoor space, and that her loft is a full sized loft and not a crawl space. I also love the idea of creating communities with Black farmers so that way they can create some sort of revenue to avoid losing their land and in turn, there are safe spaces created for those who choose to live Tiny. Often, there are lots of single women who choose this lifestyle so this is a very good idea.
I love your home. In 2003, I built a stick built home, 3 br 2 1/2 baths. By being my own general contractor, I spent $138,000, which included some of the newer furniture for the place. It turned out too big, too rural, and I was very unhappy. I sold it for less than I spent-oh well-i am happier now. I am now on a lake in a 1 br, 1 1/2 bath condo. I love it but I have zero family here. I did not miss the family situation until covid’s isolation. Now, I am dreaming of a tiny house that I can move around a little in, so that I can have a part of many worlds. I would love to be near a lake or beach in summer, but in a cold mountainous area in winter. Also, I love to see you “gardening” from a not so permanent location. That’s pretty 😎
I get nervous in tight spaces so tiny houses aren’t for me but this looks so peaceful and relaxing. By far this is the best tiny house I have seen! No lies
Your tiny home is so breathtaking. It is so creative and full of character. I just love it and i am inspired. I have been researching and binging tiny house information/videos.
Not only is her skin immaculate but she is so fearless! I love this I’m going to actually do some research I want to hear about Other black women who are doing this is it safe what stating like most importantly how do you use your electricity to do your hair? I’m just so curious now thank you for sharing your story
I love it!!! Owning and living the life you see fit irrespective of what people might think of you. This is beautiful with all the African art!!! Guess what? If she one day retires, and wants to relocate to Africa, she could ship her whole house to Africa where land is cheaper and are more accepting of tiny houses so long as you’re a legal owner or renter of the property.
There are so many African Americans who own land here in America as she mentioned, I do hope she will collaborate with some of them to make areas for tiny houses as some have inherited it and do not necessarily want to live on that land.
Love this story. I live in a tiny house on wheels in Africa. The majority of people in Africa live in small homes. Your home is stunning, very elegant, and a real home. Thankyou for sharing.
Such a productive move in going forward to be self-sustaining... I hope our black farmer's are able to come through the systemic obstacles that are placed in front of them a unity community would be wonderful for us all👍🏼
Dang momma! You read her for literature!!! And you did it holding no punches _while_ being graceful, intelligent, informative. Your tiny house and you are beautiful.
Your spirit and tiny house are such a vibe! Your space has so much soul. Such a serenity space. Thank you so much beautiful for sharing your story, the co-op idea and your amazingly beautiful tiny home with us.
I've watched plenty of tiny home shows and I don't recall any of them talking about the necessity of having to move around a lot during to county/city restrictions. Thanks for highlighting this aspect of tiny home living. Makes me reconsider a bit lol, but good to know.
How has the construction held up since owning ? I know you’ve moved your home several times, and I was wondering has that impacted the structure. So glad to see an updated video. I always wondered if you’re journey was still going strong, love your home😀
Wow! Your home is just stunning. You've done a phenomenal job, and it has amazing personalization and character. It's obvious a lot of thought went into this project!
This is absolutely amazing!!! 💖💖💖🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿 Love the mutually beneficial relationship for Black farmers and Black tiny home owners, the sustainability, empowerment, and support of community 💕🤗 The house is GORGEOUS! Love it! 😍😍😍
I really like the interior design, and the fact that you're educating people through the process. While tiny homes, have been out for a while. The problem most people run into is finding parking space for the tiny home. And affordability for a tiny home. I'm happy that you're addressing these issues.
being outside the city isn’t my first preference, but it allows me to be in my home and work toward my “retirement plan” and there’s a beautiful peace and stillness to be experienced here.
Just a Beautiful Tiny Home, and a Beautiful Soul. I have been looking and researching tiny home living, for the past 3 years. I too am not able to give up some of my beautiful arts, and etc. This is the best so far! Love and Peace to you
Your home is soooo cozy, warm & beautiful ! It’s inspiring to see what you’re doing. I love what you’re doing to pair black tiny home owners with black famers ! Wishing you all the best with that as well! ✨🤎❤️🙏🏾
So beautiful. This is what I imagine when I was thinking of my tiny house but someone I was discussing it with laughed like you can’t make a tiny house fancy but look at you. This is so nice!!!

Oh my goodness! Your gorgeous home rivals the most chic NYC Apartment/studio. Glad you’re bringing to light the options that are available to ALL who sadly were unaware of these options. LOVE IT. You are a beautiful woman with an amazing gift.
