Hello Dave, We had to go a little aggressive with the pad due to the amount of paint, drywall dust and soil. We made sure we kept moisture down while using the green pad. Squeaky is our go to also. A good extraction tool / equipment is what really works, have to extract it or the dust will dry back on the floor. We have done multiple jobs with this process without issues. We also use the green pad to remove wax from wood floods. I’ve also used red pads. It just depends on the condition of the floor. Steps: vacuum, wet agitation, equipment extraction, and clean mop. I agree. However, no complaints from my company if the general contractors want to pay to have it addressed. Interesting part is on this job the floors were just installed during the project.
Hey Bro, You did your thing on those lvp floors. I have a dirt dragon and I was reluctant to use it on a construction clean up like the one in this video. You do excellent work.
Nice job. Was the painting complete? Looks like still some left to do. We try to wait until the painters are completely finished because as you said they make a complete mess. You can use a single disc floor machine and a green pad on LVT. A red pad will work most of the time. Always use the least aggressive pad that will get it clean. Any good degreaser is OK on LVT. Get the slurry up as quick as possible. Rinse well. We have been doing every kind of floor surface for over 35 yrs.
No the painting was not complete. We also do many post construction floor and general cleaning jobs. As you know the customer schedules cleaning stages based on inspections and investors site visits. Large construction companies do this to give off the appearance of progress to stack holders. This was a large apartment building with all units being renovated including hallways.

So the green pad on the Orbot Vibe didn't mess up the wear layer on the LVP? I was thinking about using my PF Multiwash, but thought my orbiter with any pad would screw up the wear layer. Was debating about using the Squeaky Clean, but wasn't sure if that would work on the drywall dust residue. I don't usually do residential construction cleans, just commercial with tile and grout, so doing a little research.
That was an excellent post construction clean up on that lvp. I’m in the ATL and I see all kinds of craziness on these sites. Can I ask what kind of brush or pad did you use to scrub the floors?
It varies depending on the condition of the floor. Sometimes a red or green pad. Some we use a mild aggressive brush on the buffer or dirt Dragon machine. The key is dry vacuuming first and having something to extract the dirty water up with post scrubbing. A mop doesn't pickup water contaminated with drywall dust well. Hope this helps.
