The celebrated Ukrainian classical music festival LvivMozArt, founded and directed by the internationally renowned Ukrainian conductor Oksana Lyniv, and the International Mozarteum Foundation present the premiere of the documentary film
Since the founding of the LvivMozArt Festival in Lviv (Ukraine), the top priority has been to strengthen international cultural ties and exchanges between Ukraine and Western Europe. In 2022, when the people of Ukraine suddenly found themselves in the new reality of war, this aspiration became even stronger. That summer, the holding of the festival in Lviv was made impossible due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Eight renowned Ukrainian artists therefore met in Salzburg. Inspired by probably the most famous composer of all times, Wolfgang Amadé Mozart, they came together at the original places of work of the musical genius to talk about their experiences, the power of solidarity and music.
The project "Lviv - Salzburg: Mozart for Solidarity" is connected with the personality of Franz Xaver Mozart and the women from his close circle in Lviv. In the music film the audience hears a special repertoire composed in Lviv (Ukraine) 180-200 years ago. These pieces were performed for the first time in historical places and on the original instruments of the Mozart family in Salzburg. The precious original instruments of Wolfgang Amadé Mozart were used: his violin, built by the Italian master Pietro Antonio Dalla Costa (1697-1770) and his fortepiano. Further recordings took place on a grand piano from the hand of Konrad Graf, whose aesthetics are very close to the original tonality of the works of F. X. Mozart and Robert and Clara Schumann.
The program includes works by Franz Xaver Mozart, his pupil Julia von Cavalcabo, one of the earliest Austrian female composers, the highly talented daughter of his mistress and sole heiress Josephine von Cavalcabo, and Robert Schumann. This cycle will be complemented by works of contemporary Ukrainian composers Bohdan Sehin and Valentyn Silvestrov.
Internationally renowned Ukrainian artists will take part in this project.
